Yeah, but Shiner has the history behind it. I don't think Kev was lobbying for its greatness as a beer, but for a LONG time that was THE beer to order in Texas. I don't recall Texas having a vast selection of micro-brews when I lived there and I'm sure it has changed, but Shiner has its place in Texas lore.And my god, I'm about to dump this Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale.

I'm pretty sure beer nerds from the northwest don't care about the place in Texas history for a particular beer. If it makes you feel better, I still drink a bunch of Lone Star, usually six packs of tall boys, and I always leave them in the plastic rings so that I'm drinking the last can with the evidence of his five fallen brothers in plain sight for all to see.

I've been drinking a bit of Lone Star myself. I think they changed the recipe from last tiem I drank it ( decade or more ago). I also dig the camouflage cans, so I can drink stealthily

I had a giant Frito Pie with a bunch of Lone Star Tall Boys the rest of the night. I was not the most popular guy at Atones that night, good christ were those belches horrid.

I've never seen Shiner in Texas. Moving on to New Blegium's Shift Pale Lager. I like this one quite a bit. A good session beer.

That's fair. One of the things I love most about my job is I go in when I want and leave when I want. I guess my big thing is that I never get a mental break from it and its nice to have a little time to myself. I'm enjoying myself.

Thirded. And if you're a soccer dork like me, there's something on during the weekends from the time you get up until 10 pm or so. Can't beat that. The only advantage of the East Coast is if you're up late on a weekend, you've got West Coast bases/hoops on until 1 AM or so.

i work between 50-65 hrs a week, but dont have to take it home with me too much.

Merry belated Christmas (or what-have-you) to my fellow GMTANers. Hope you've all had a relatively stress-free and enjoyable time this last week. A few things:

1) Most importantly, I need to provide an update on my secret santa gift from Guster. I mentioned in my list of items that there was a knitted something-or-other in a plastic bag that I was afraid to open. Turns out, this was smart. Mr. YSR got home from TX on Saturday and on Sunday morning, he was going through all of the items that were still out on the table. He is the one who opened the bag and laid out what was, yes, an actual dickmitten. Shortly thereafter, I got a PM from Guster confirming that you can, in fact, purchase these from etsy.

From what I've gathered, LED > Plasma, but costs a bit more. I believe the greater the refresh rate, the better the quality also?

Anything else I should be looking for when comparing prices? Any one know of any companies running some good deals?

I've started looking into this (55', LED, at least 240hz), and am seeing anywhere from $1,200 - $3,500. Also, a lot of televisions still offering 3d? I'm not really interested in 3d but I mean, if it comes with it, it comes with it

I chuckled at him being stressed out by his sub 40 hour work week too, but unless you've ever been in a job that you don't really ever leave and is always on your mind, it's hard to understand how much that wears on you. Especially if you don't ever get a vacation.
