GM's thread about nothing (69 Viewers)

That's only 5 years old? Do you live at sea or something?
No, it's just not a Weber and well used/abused. I guess I live about 3.5 miles from the sea. This thing was also covered all the time when not in use.
Yeah, I bought a poor man's grill last year and while I love it and it's served me more than well most of the time, I've also caught it on fire twice and have had to replace some nuts/bolts. :bag:

Krista4 > Watched Wires Season 4 final episode last night. I get the slight feeling that life on the streets of Baltimore for young African American males is kinda hard and not all that fair.

Happy to see The Greek again. Love that dude.
 Yes, that was a nice surprise. Prop Joe is a such a great character too, by the way.

I kind of wanted to plow right into Season 5 but Mr. krista and others say that is the worst season. Think I'll take a little time so that I'm not so disappointed watching it right after Season 4. What's your plan? And what's your current ranking of the seasons?

Went and saw my father yesterday. He was snoozing at a table in the common area. I brought him a hat, so I nudged him awake to ask if he wanted to put it on (dude across the table was slavering over the cap, just knowing it would be his soon). Dad woke up and said he was tired. I said "come on, let's go to your room". I wanted to get him shaved and make sure he brushed his teeth. He shot me a look that used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid, though he had no idea who I was.I tried the "I'm your father, you listen to me" thing - didn't work.

Cancer can kiss one ###, but dementia is more than welcome to kiss the other cheek. God ####### Damn.

The day/night ended well, though. There was a surprise birthday party for my aunt hosted by another aunt. I saw so many people I haven't seen in forever, including some of my own relatives I've never said two words to prior to last night. My family is odd (or maybe not) in that there are not level generational ages. The aunt who hosted the party is much closer to my age than my mom's. I have cousins that are the same generation as me who could be my kids.

I think, though, the best conversation I had all night was with the sister of one of my best friends from HS. She is my birthday-party-aunt's age. My friend had commited suicide by jumping off of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I hadn't talked to his sister since the funeral, and had no idea how angry I was at my friend until I talked to her last night. I was being my usual ######## self, because I know everything , telling her that it wasn't fair that he left his kids that way. She basically slapped me upside the head and said "he had Aspergers, you ###; he was brilliant but stupid; if I couldn't help him, you've got a lot of nerve saying you could."

Sometimes being put in your place helps put things back in perspective. Can't believe how much guilt/anger I've been carrying around for the last 20 years over his death.
Whoa. That wasn't like my night at all. Sorry, GB. I think you've earned a pappy and Pepsi One today. :(
I'm out of Pepsi One, GB. Think I should call krista & see if Red Bull is a suitable substitute?
:lmao:
I think we are going to plow through Season 5 and start working on Breaking Bad, which I have saved to my DVR. :bowtie: Bummer that Season 5 is a let down, but I get the sense that a bad Wires is infinitely better than anything else on free TV right now.

My rankings will be ridiculed I'm sure, but I shop at Rite Aid and listen to Coldplay....These rankings are closer than Bill's cousins in Maryland:

Season 2 - I know, I know...sue me. I was entertained. Loved how they got the band back together and thought the Greeks and the Stevedores were exceptional characters. Frank especially. Plus, you had Valchak (sp?) at his very very best. And Hot Shots? You kidding me? That was terrific.

Season 3 - Carcetti's emergence overshadowed the season for me. I just don't like him. Hamsterdam was brilliant, Colvin's interactions with Rawls/Burrell were some of the best drama I've seen and Cutty jumped off the screen the minute they introduced him.

Season 4 - I could have easily ranked this number 1, but I missed the Barksdales and why no McNulty? Again, too much Carcetti for my tastes, but...Prez? Loved it and him. I admire actors and performances that can make me feel their internal struggles without saying much about it. Carver fits that mold for me too. His attempts and failures to find a home for Randy were crushing. The juxtaposition of heartfelt storylines amidst a sea of violence and heartless acts is extraordinary.

Season 1 - Started slow for me, but it didn't take me long to become hooked. Again, I could rank this higher than 4th, but I'm going to my grave defending my Season 2 = #1. Sometimes, you gotta make a stand. Plus, you know....Wallace. :(

Yeah, Mr. krista said Season 5 was still better than 99% of anything ever aired on TV. I think I'll plow through because Breaking Bad is next on my list and I can watch those "together" with you, too. :)

Couldn't agree more about both Prez and Carver. And Cutty. And Frank Sobotka would go much higher in our two-person draft than in anyone else's. :)

I will shortly have a $500 gift card that will get me half way to a very nice Weber Genesis. :excited:

I liked Season 2 best as well. I just love that the whole thing happened because of a friggin church window.
:goodposting: That is so awesome.

As to Carcetti, GM, I don't like the person portrayed, but the guy playing him is an absolutely phenomenal actor, so I enjoy watching him.
Oh, I agree. Conniving, egotistical and smug little wank, but the actor playing him nailed the role. He gobbled up a little TOO much screen time for my taste, but it was necessary to complete the story.

Some guys, they let us into their personal lives a little...Carcetti, Colvin, Kim, McNulty, Daniels. But I'd LOVE a peek inside the home life of Rawls and Bunk. And I keep waiting for Sgt. Landsman to keel over every time we see him. I can literally hear his arteries clogging.

What the hell happened to D(itkaless) W(onders) in the Philippines typhoon thread? Thought he has generally been one of our well-respected elder statesmen around here? Incredibly tasteless.

That would be great. I love Bunk so much I named my car after him. :bag:

We're naming our next pet "Wee-Bey".

6 people left in Frosty's survivor pool and 5 of us picked the Titans while the other picked the Giants.

5-way tie for 2nd place?

Even I thought that was tasteless. And when it comes to nubile Asians, very few statements will cross that line.

Don't count out them Jags just yet, GB.
:goodposting: The Jags might find a way to lose this still
Obviously you guys aren't familiar with the Amish Rifle.
Oh I remember his days as a Bengal. Neat way for them to lose the game there

:lmao: Honest to some deity, when I read it I thought "Homer wouldn't even say that."

Looks like someone took pity and deleted it (it was still there when I posted this a little bit ago). It was indicating that young, nubile women in Philippines and Vietnam would be naked and in need of help. Something like that.

Wow, not his style

I think he was perhaps referencing the black face Santa with 'Sup on it and not your loveable curves.

How do we know Santa isn't black?

Nobody could put that many presents on layaway

My new neighbor that moved in below me is ridiculously hot. She has a kid and I assume the guy I've seen pick her up a couple of times is her boyfriend or something similar.

I'd like to see her naked.

Post it note?
