GM's thread about nothing (25 Viewers)

It seems it really comes down to walkability + boat vs views. Also, consider that D is not going to be walking anywhere unless he gets a job in Ballard.

Which has better natural lighting inside? That's a huge factor that can't be ignored in Seattle.

Also, don't overplay the decks - views are great and decks with views are awesome but decks are really only a play here for about 3-4 months of the year.

I think I know the answers I'll get, but I'm going to post this and ask for GMTAN wisdom anyway.

The Great Seattle Home Search is nearing completion and we are down to two final contenders:

House A is listed at a price that would allow us to pay cash for it. Pluses, in addition to price, are location (95 walk score, and being in the center of the action is highly desirable for us), attached garage, and...wait for it...space for the pizza oven.
Stopped reading here. Sold!

Had a pretty manly little sunday here. Replaced a couple light fixtures and a shower head, went on a 10 mile run and now I'm at a steakhouse with a gin martini in hand.

Shuke,

My company actually contracts out many of these, what are called "Final Mile" deliveries. Though we don't do it for Amazon, those fees are common and actually pretty standard. The company could integrate that into the product cost or pass it directly on to you, and it looks like that's what they're doing in this case.
Please don't take offense. This practice is fine if it's listed in the shipping terms up front. Otherwise, it's complete bull####.

Oh, none taken. I thought you were questioning the prices. Yeah, it is pretty lame that they didn't tell you up front.

Our realtor believes he could resell either one if we decided not to stay. (He doesn't say this about all houses.)
:lmao:

Someone put realtors on my bingo card.
My Mom & Dad didn't get this last house because the inspection revealed that there were 3 cracks in the foundation which caused the the tresses to go out of whack and the roof leaked. I figured something was screwed up when I noticed all of the basement windows had a lot of moisture on the insides and there was a big crack in the ceiling that looked like it was attempted to be repaired. Upset that my parents didn't "want" this home either (another one they put a contract on was also revealed from the inspection there were major problems) she quit on them. She told my Dad that she never had somebody "back out" on two houses on her. What a stupid ####. Maybe if you know, did something other that unlock the door, stand there and smile, there wouldn't have been offers on either of the them.

With all due respect to Mrs. Rently though. I'm sure she is great.

Yes, but he would definitely just get a job in Ballard. There are tons of great restaurants there.

Certainly better light in the more expensive house as it has these 18? 20? foot ceilings with floor to ceiling windows on the main floor.

I was just thinking the same thing about the decks; won't get nearly as much use as I was initially thinking they would.

By the way, we looked at a bunch of places in West Seattle and really do love that area, but didn't find the right spot. We had one high on our list that we saw yesterday, but it went under contract by yesterday evening. :(

The sunset tonight was insanely beautiful. Then a couple hundred Canadian geese all decided to take flight from a field. Wish I could have gotten a pic but was driving.

By the way, for those who have not been tracking my every Seattle thought in Drifter's Seattle thread (and why not???), I want to point out that Drifter actually went to an open house for us last Sunday to check out a West Seattle house. How cool is this guy? Thanks again; we owe you many beers/pizzas/naan and/or boat rides.

BRONG did something similar for us when we were looking at rental locations for our trip to Kauai. As he was perusing the premises (a huge house split into three rental units), he inadvertently ran into a couple #######. :lmao:

Oddly enough we get a few geese around here. This morning the wife and I were out walking. I heard the unmistakable sound of geese. I told the wife as I scanned the sky "Geese! Where are they?" A second or two later TWO geese appear over the tops of some trees. TWO.

Installing the hidden cameras after you move in is tricky.

When I was a kid it was really rare to see them at all. I see them every day now and there are a hundred or so that make the neighborhood ponds home every winter.

Canadian geese make up 45% of Mr. krista's bingo card.

What about that kitchen?

I made a turkey and swiss sandwich.

But it was on a bagel, so I'm pretty wiped out.

Do it, Steve...do it for the both of us."

The kitchen and house are awesome. Except for that whole jacked up foundation thing.

I used the term "Canadian Geese" around my BIL the ornithologist once. ONCE. He went on a diatribe that they are CANADA geese not Canadian geese.

Now I try not to talk about any kinds of birds around him.

AKA Branta canadensis

Canadensis literally means "from Canada" as in "Canadian". Throw that back at him.
