GM's thread about nothing (69 Viewers)

Just getting over the worst illness of my adult life. Fever since Tuesday night until this morning, with strep throat that showed up late in the day Wednesday. Ugh.

On the bright side, I did get to watch a lot of conference tournaments on Thursday and Friday. And now there's a Rocky marathon on AMC.

Rocky and Apollo are lying side-by-side on the canvas right now, desperately clawing their way to their feet. I know how they feel.
You ok, GB?
Getting there, finally. I might have a drink today. Haven't had one since Tuesday night which - other than one foolish Lent 15 years ago - is probably my first five-day dry streak since 1989.

Glad to hear you're doing well. Though I would be worried if she mentions wanting to have some bedroom fun using enhanced interrogation techniques.
I hear ya, my friend. Glad you're doing better.

To be honest, I'm a little afraid of what I may have helped unleash.
Good News: She gives a you a safe word.

Bad News: It's "Harder"

I fail to see the bad news ;)

This will be my last taxes complaint this year.

I have done everything except valuing my Goodwill donations. I'm starting on the first donation date, and my list of items donated is seven pages long, with each line item comprising many items (e.g., 29 sweaters, women's).

This is the first of nine separate donation dates.

Kill me now.

Huh. So you can't set up a free bracket on Yahoo, just for ####s and giggles, without giving Quicken Loans an email address and phone number. Oh, and taking a "survey" on your mortgage needs.

#### that. I'd rather do krista's taxes.

Also, BabyYSR and I are going to Augusta, GA to see Romo this coming weekend. His birthday was Wednesday so I'd like to take him somewhere decent for dinner one night. Yelp and Urbanspoon have done nothing but let me know that Augusta really doesn't have a ton to offer in the way of good food. Not really sure what all these fancy golfers do when they are in town.
How far is Augusta from...anywhere with good food? Could you get out?
We could get out of town, but we probably wouldn't want to with the little one. It's not the end of the world... he will have been living in an Extended Stay for 3 weeks (by then) and I thought a non-Outback option might be a nice change of pace.

Frog Hollow Tavern ftw

I wasn't paying close attention as I'm mired in tax hell, but did I hear we could have a second-round matchup between Our Ducks and Our Badgers?
Yup. Should be a fun game.
They're going to do a "Who Has The Whitest Fans?" contest at halftime, where three people from each team are picked at random, a huge kleig light is shone upon them, and then they have to try and burn a hole in the floor with the reflection. Wisky's an early favorite at -145.

It's looking like that's going to be our winner if we can make it happen. Good reviews online, interesting menu. Thanks!

We had Duany Duany

I've power watched the first season of The Americans this weekend. Can't decide whether to keep going with Season 2 or not. Funny how really, really good TV (True Detective, Breaking Bad, etc.) can kind of ruin some other TV.
I wouldn't recommend season 2. I'm still watching but just barely. It doesn't really get better or worse. Just meh.

I think this is why AngryWife keeps a running spreadsheet of every donation throughout the year.

Curious what your total donation amount is and if you think it's a red flag.

Just finished with most of my return, and oddly enough my total donation amount for 2013 was within a couple hundred of what I donated in 2012. The difference is that in 2012 I donated mostly in cash while last year the majority was property, but for what it's worth (which might not be much), TurboTax calls my overall audit risk "very low". I was very conservative in the amounts I took for donated items, often claiming well less than I know the items were worth on a secondary market, and since the total is consistent with prior years I don't think it should be a big deal.

Some of those turbotax values seem high.

I agree. Actually some seem high and some are inexplicable - like categories of similar items where the prices are not consistent. They had a higher value and a lower one each time, and I took the lower value. In addition, many of my items were antique or of particular valuable quality and I still took lower values there.

I'm just always conservative in tax matters.

Don't they use some 3rd party for valuation?

My 2 year old appears to have some sort of stomach bug. Picked him up from a nap and he was sleeping on my shoulder. He proceeded to vomit all sorts if fruits and veggies all over both of us. About an hour later, I went to take a leak and he puked all over the living room and himself. Only a matter of time before his one year old brother has this too.

Also, I have the worst farts, but that's prolly from that Shamrock shake I had earlier.

:lmao: Just to be clear, I do NOT want to do your taxes.
would you like to pay my taxes? I'll do them myself.
Seems like you lawyers are up to something.

Augusta's a ####hole with an enclave designed to keep out the uppity folk smack dab in the middle.

Took The Terrorist screaming down to the couch around 3am. Off to work soon. I'm starting to feel like that guy in the Metallica "One" video. I'd like someone to put me out of my misery but I'm not quite sure how to communicate it.

HAPPY MONDAY GMTAN
