Gold Rush: Alaska (1 Viewer)

I wish this show would end already. Discovery is milking this thing dry and the production and narration just plain sucks.
I know. This show is a train wreck. I hate it, but tune in every week thinking they'll actually figure it out.

It is starting to wear a little thin. These guys make more money for being on the show than they will in gold, so it does take some of the shine off of it. I thought the original point was to strike it rich. When did $160,000 become the goal? Splitting $50k? Really? Once they said that, it really makes the show a lot worse. If you are worried about your family, go crab fishing. Those guys make far more in a lot less time. Heck, just living in Alaska and working at McDonald's nets you more. That said, sometimes it is fun watching the train wreck.

If the 400 breaks they won't make their 100 oz goal and it will be the end of the season. How will they buy their families a new car and carpet?

The guy who said that seems like he's the most level headed, but what a laughable quote he gave about the new car and carpet.

Yeah, that seemed odd. More from an editing standpoint. I'm sure these guys say things that don't make sense from time to time. Why put that on the air?

Dakota's gold doesn't look as good as the others. It looks dirty I guess is the word.

Dave saves them again not giving up on 2 and talking that other guy back.

You have to admit the gold prospects from cut 3 started looking good at the end of the episode. Dave did have a good plan to try to get them both done, they get the guarantee from whatever is in cut 2 with the bonus if they can get anything out of cut 3.

Both Todd's team and Dakota's look to be really clicking now. The wash plant that Todd has is awesome. That rocker thing that Dakota has is a beast at processing material.

Ya Dave said it well I think. Something like the things that would've taken them out for days/weeks are now taking them out for hours.

the Hoffman crew have a much better paydirt separator then Dakota does, which is probably why their gold looks like there is less crap in it. If they get to do both cut 2 and cut 3 and get it all processed before the winter hits, they should have a pretty good year.

Anyone else catch the Bering Sea Gold show? They find more gold in one day dredging the ocean than any of these people find in an entire season.

No kidding. That big broken down dredger got 40 ounces in what looked like a half day of work. 3-4 guys and one excavator. Makes the Gold Rush guys look pretty bad.

I have not watched the show. What kind of security do they have and how far away is Somalia? :pirate:

I am still annoyed that Dakota Fred laughs at the Hoffman crew and their glory hole from last year, but when he works it and gets all of his gold this year, he is a freaking genius and maven of the gold field.

I don't think he is digging in the same spot as the Hoffmans did last season.

Pretty sure it is unless he found another glory hole.

He is using the same Glory Hole as the Hoffmans. He just redid the approach to it (twice now) so that he could go deeper into the Glory Hole. I can't stand his laugh at all, and when ever he gets really excited about something and his voice goes up. Last season the Hoffmans talked to Grandpa Schnabel and found out it took him 2 full seasons to reach the bottom of his glory hole, they tried it in one season. Dakota Fred is just a doosh when he is ripping on the Hoffmans this season. They did all the work for him, actually found the Glory Hole, and got it down to the start of bedrock. He is just finishing it off now, and it isn't like he has been perfect this season.

:goodposting: This guy tries to make himself sound like he is the king of mining and it was his son who told him to stop digging around willy nilly and to concentrate on the Hoffman's hole, where the gold actually is. Sure, he has gotten down deeper to the better stuff this year, but you know that they were going for the exact same spot and were going to do the same thing, if he didn't scoop the claim out on them.

Giant dickmitten. I can't wait until he pushes his son too far and he smashes his face with a shovel.

Not a fan of the Hoffman engineer guy. Might be the editing but he doesn't seem worth the pay.
Who is worth the pay on that squad? Maybe one guy. Don't know his name but he's the guy running the dozer late at night.Lot of work for a little cash, especially split 6 ways or whatever it is.This show would be better if the narration didn't suck.

Dave. Probably not coincidentally, he also seems to be the only guy who has anything going back home as well. They would probably all be best served if Todd would just turn the boss role and all decision making over to Dave.

That's not my point cuz I agree a lot of those guys don't seem worth the money. But I see a lot of them working at least. The engineer does zero manual labor and can't fix stuff and he doesn't even have tools. Plus he whines a lot. Again, maybe the editing.

i hate everyone on this showbut not as much as i hate myself every time i waste an hour on it
:lmao: Ain't that the truth.
But as much as some of these guys are clueless and useless, I would take any of them before I would take that loud mouthed captain from the other gold show on the Bering Sea.
If I ever find myself watching the ******* child of Gold Rush and The Deadliest Catch then I will put my foot through the screen and then used the shattered husk of the TV to smash my own tosticlees into a fine powder which I will then mix in water and drink declaring "enjoy your ballaid you ####### ########!!!!"

Why so many guys for the HOffmans?
Yeah it's interesting to watch Parker pretty much do it all himself, I know he has like 2 other guys that help when needed but it's pretty much a 1 man show. Then you have Fred and his son, their big advantage is the uber equipment they rented - seems to sluice more yards of dirt than anyone. Finally you have the 7(?) man Hoffman team that typically needs to work into and through the night to make any progress.

Yeah, but to be fair, Parker is working an established mine that has been in the family for years. The Hoffman crew just went out and started digging.

A true testament to their intellectual stature.

Obviously I oversimplified it a bit. There was some thought to their process.I don't know, it's easy to pick on their faults, but given their lack of experience I think they've ended up doing OK this season. And if they wouldn't have gotten undermined (pun intended) by Dakota Fred, they probably would have had a great season at their old site.

Now that Parker's family mine has nothing left in it...what do they do? Go buy a new piece of land and start all over?

but they got undermined because they were so busy trying to open a second sight they neglected to make payments on their first site, you know the one they though had millions in gold in it??they are morons

I think that huge dumptruck Parker uses helps with speed.

Dakota digs and his son delivers and dumps into the de-rocker. The Hoffmans use 3 guys to do that. Then the Hoffmans burn another two guys just watching equipment (engineer and porn-stache guy). And then Jack on top of that. Or maybe the Hoffmans work in shifts?

Hoffman crew $8,000 per man for their season. Well that doesn't amount to much and short of their 100 ounces goal. But Todd claims he's got the system down now and is going for 1000 ounces next year.

Parker's mine lacking gold this year but just in the end finds a trace of gold in his new location.

Dakota boys did fairly well and now just inches from the glory hole!

Sets up nicely for their 3rd season. Makes for good tv.

No one got rich on their gold findings but the real gold is THE SHOW. That was the great find. That is where they are cashing in.

The concept is excellent, the execution is bad. The show could be so much better.I don't think I can watch another season, although I have to admit, I want to know more about the Dakota Boys' glory hole. The Hoffmans are a couple of idiot clowns. Dave should run that crew. Parker's a good kid but he's playing with family money. Nothing really happening there but he's the one everybody roots for.

I don't know why they don't film a real operation that's getting hundreds of ounces per season. Instead they show these clowns.

I sure hope Jack's "beloved 400 excavator" makes it through the winter OK...Which reminds me, do these guys just leave all these bulldozers and loaders and "d-rockers" sitting out in the snow and ice all winter long? Don't they have to drain oil from engines and water from hoses etc. before they split for the south? My lawnmower is hard enough to start in the spring if I don't do a little preventive maintenance before I put it away for the winter, let alone the D8 Cat bulldozer that somebody broke.
