You're probably right, but you never know.

I didn't quote it in my response, but I was considering the story that Farmer put out claiming Spanos/Davis have the votes needed to block a Rams move. There has been another story that Saints owner Benson actually asked during Kroenke's presentation why the NFL should help fund his stadium.

I think Kroenke is going to do everything possible to play by the rules as he'll certainly want the league funds and superbowl nominations and all that stuff. But if it gets to a vote and he gets shot down, I think he'll just move anyway. And the Raiders' win in court tells him he should be allowed to do that.

Rams are GONE. Heard today that Kronke is giving the Nuggets and Avalanche to his wife to avoid the cross ownership rule. I only hope that his wife divorces him. That would be so great.

It should also be noted that at the stadium there are still big vinyl window decals of Sam Bradford and Jake Long up. They.Don't.Care.

It looks like this 20th year will be my last as a season ticket holder. Kind of looking forward to not having to put up with these a-holes any longer.

And while I can appreciate your love of the Rams in St. Louis, they are the "right" team of the 3 to return to LA from an historical standpoint. I'm not sure anything that StL could have done would have kept them there, but the town itself did no favors by stonewalling and trying to pressure the Rams to commit without any gain if they were serious about keeping them.

I think the Raiders in STL would be fascinating. It's probably the only team that STL would be an upgrade in its current facility footprint.

I know fans in St. Louis are pissed, but the Rams signed a deal requiring them to have a top stadium and St. Louis didn't want to pay for it until it was too late. IMO they played chicken with Kroenke and lost.

I can see the appeal of doing St Louis and San Diego

1) No realignment needed.

2) Seems like it gets rid of the most blocking votes.

3) Screws the ghost of Al Davis one last time. I don't get the sense that Mark Davis is the most popular of owners amongst the NFL teams.

The 'solution' for the Raiders would end up being either:

1) take the St. Louis offer that's on the table or maybe a slightly better St. Louis offer. I think of all cities at risk, Oakland is in the weakest position in terms of battling the NFL. I realize that StL wants no part of Davis and Co. (and I don't blame him) but there would be the consolation prize of Chiefs-Raiders rivalry games each year with a Missouri backdrop. Oddly, the Chargers get sorta screwed here b/c they will have even more games out of their time zone but that might be the price the NFL imposes on them.

2) Take the Raiders to San Antonio. Same problem for the Chargers as #1 in terms of time zone. This is a solution, though, that might not be to Jerry Jones' liking.

3) Work out with Oakland - I have a hard time fathoming this, at least in terms of the NFL partners deciding to pony up the $ to make this happen - and I really don't think Davis and Oakland work it out by themselves.

By the way nothing against St Louis it's a very nice city but with KC 3 1/2 hrs, Chi 5hrs, Ten 4 1/2hrs there is a ton of teams from an NFL perspective to eat up that market. Would the NFL squeeze as much out of the area no but it would still be a sizable amount likely.

The St. Louis area is the 19th largest in the country which means they are in 13 smaller markets. Yeah, why would the NFL want to be here.

Yes and no. Where they REALLY screwed up, besides the original contract of course, is when the Rams violated the agreement by playing that game in London without the permission of the city. St. Louis held all of the cards and could have stuck it to them. I'm not a lawyer but I think they could have forced the Rams to renegoitiate a whole new deal at that time, just as the Rams are citing one violation, to leave. Instead they fell for a wink and a handshake deal that the Rams would remember this and wouldn't leave. Idiots have been running this place my whole life. So frustrating.

I hear no way the Raiders are coming to St. Louis. I did hear that the owner (Davis?) agreed to sell the Raiders last Friday night but then reneged Saturday morning. The plan was to move them to San Antonio.

I also hear that it's a possibility that Jacksonville moves to St. Louis. Shah Khan is the owner and who Kroenke c-blocked from buying the Rams.

I've just had it with the NFL and the way they do business in general. It isn't like they aren't raking in billions a year. Yet they feel the need to extort cities for new stadiums. Yeah, I get business, supply and demand and all that. This isn't some manufacturing facility though, this is something that the entire population of any given city identifies with.

What really strikes me too is how attendance at games seems to be falling. It seemed like every MNF game last year, including places like Pittsburgh, had a noticeable amount of empty seats. Now the TV ratings are as strong as ever but I think most fans these days would rather watch Red Zone or go to a bar so they can keep up on their FF team and/or it's A LOT less expensive.

Then throw in the noticeable changes in the game from 20-25 years ago plus lawsuits from the players and all of the concussion awareness. Maybe the NFL has peaked?

Did you miss where this is a discussion between SD, Oakland, and St. Louis? Out of SD/Oakland vs St. Louis who has more money in their respective markets?

Again I like St. Louis personally (live in Wisconsin) but in this argument they lose. Its like saying who is the all time best QB, doesn't mean Marino is not great he just isn't as great as a couple others. If you want to argue population than you are going to run into real issues as places like Green Bay (gets to count all of Wisconsin), Pittsburgh (gets to count a lot of Pennsylvania), Nashville (counts all of Tennessee), and so on....

That was 3 years ago and time has shown that his opinion, at the time was wrong. How do I know? The Rams made -zero- attempts to try and find something that would work for both parties. None. They wanted almost a billion dollars of improvements, done their way and without input from the CVC or they were leaving. Does that really sound like somebody that wanted a deal to work or were they just asking for something they knew was an impossibility?

I really don't understand why you care so much though. If you're in L.A. and want them, all power to you and them. I've never had a women leave me for another man but if I did, I wouldn't beg them to come back. GTFO, the love is gone. I would have rather it turned out different but it didn't. Hell, I've spent most of the games the last 5-6 years rooting for the visiting team because I've had money on them.

From a business perspective, the Rams are a miserable organization, and as I stated above, part of a miserable company to keep extorting their fans with the threat of leaving to get what they want. Balzer explained that the owner has done nothing but hint at a move and then overtly plan a move since he bought the team and thus fans are not renewing/buying season tickets the way they have in the past and corporate sponsorship is way down too.

He said that Kroenke thought this move would be easy and never expected the city to come together so quickly on a plan. The Raiders and the Chargers have no plan whatsoever in SD or Oakland. No chance for a stadium there. St. Louis has secured funding, land, architect drawings, etc. Balzer said the best path for everyone involved is SD and the Raiders to LA and the Rams stay in St.Louis. Even though the Raiders moving in with the 49ers makes sense, if Mark Davis is anything like his dad he's going to want his own stadium and not just be a tenant. If he can't get any city to offer stadium funding then he's going to have to go the tenant route - either with the 49ers or LA Rams.

Spanos has burned the bridge on the way out of SD. He's not going back. It's not a ploy. They aren't even trying to put together a plan to get a stadium done in SD. There is no going back to SD.

Guess what. There were no Rams fans in St. Louis when they came in 1995. Any football team that lands in LA is going to have immediate fans. Football fans that love football and are happy to have a team. Spanos knows people from SD aren't driving up to the games in LA and he doesn't care. He's got potentially 3 million new fans there and what will be a very lucrative stadium deal. Were there enough Oiler Fans in Tennessee for the Oilers to move? Or Ravens fans in Baltimore? Sorry, he specifically said that taking out the fact that he would like football in his home town, he feels this is the best for everyone.

Kahn is from Champaign Illinois (about 3 hours away). At least for the last few decades. He bid on the Rams when Georgia died and Kroenke exercised his right of first refusal and matched the offer. The reason for Kahn to move out of Jacksonville is that the city can't support a team. It's just not big enough. Moving the team to St. Louis which can most definitely support a team, no matter what Kroenke says, would make sense as a destination in terms of Geography for Kahn and in terms of an established fanbase that can support teams...

Kroenke doesn't have to abide by what the league votes. Other owners have moved without the consent of the league. And the guy is the second richest if not richest owner in the league. The most they can do is fine the guy and there is really no way to hurt the guy financially. They could possibly take draft picks, but then that's punishing the fans of the Rams.
