I hate taking this game so close to Super Mario Bros 2, but I already had it queued up. In fact, I've been thinking about firing on it for a few rounds now.

New Super Mario Bros, Platformer, Nintendo DS
(The Platformer category is so full of Mario games, I may move it to Flex later, depending on how the rest of my picks go. But this will do for now)
Don't let the name fool you, this game is not a remake. It's a full-fledged new Super Mario adventure. In fact, it's Mario's long-awaited return to 2D platforming after a decade. And it's one of the best that the genre has ever seen.
The game is beautiful and it really shows what the Nintendo DS can do. The new additions to gameplay and new power-ups prove that it's a worthy Mario title that can hang with the best of them. I don't think I've ever been so giddy than when
I first became Giant Mario and ran through smashing everything in sight.
If that doesn't tell you anything... how about that it's just the
2nd best selling console game of all-time*
(*not including games bundles with systems).
2 New Super Mario Bros. (DS – 24.13 million)
9 Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES – 18 million)**
(**And remember, eventually Nintendo did start packaging the NES with Super Mario Bros 3.)
For grins, I decided to compare those numbers to the last two Call of Duty game's numbers to see how it fared against it. Here's how they stack up. Remember, these are cross-platform.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Cross Platform - approx 24 million)
Call of Duty: Black Ops (Cross Platform - approx 18 million)
