Anyone starting him week 1? Would be an interesting flex start.
Deciding between him and Cooks in a 14 team non-PPR league - scoring system includes points for return yards at 1/20 although I'm not sure where that swings.VikingFrog said:Anyone starting him week 1? Would be an interesting flex start.
Nah, want to confirm what I'm thinking before unleashing him. Starting Vereen, Gore, and a Detroit back in various leagues over him.VikingFrog said:Anyone starting him week 1? Would be an interesting flex start.
Darren Sproles now has as many rushing TDs of 15+ yards (2) this season as he had from 2010-2013 COMBINED.
The main reason I was extra high on him is because their receiving corps is patchwork at best. Each guy is capable of having decent games, but I felt like Sproles would be the #2 option on many snaps and could be their best receiving threat. If they still had DeSean I wouldn't have been as high on him.Billy Bats said:Easily the Eagles MVP so far this season. (i know, 2 games) But he's getting his touches and getting into plenty of open space. Big year coming for Darren.![]()
He does in my main league.thekidd2009 said:week 1 4 catches 14 receiving yards 11 carries 71 rushings yards 1 td
week 2 7 catches 152 receiveing yards 4 carries 26 rushing yards 1 td
I think he has more fantasy points to date than mccoy
Last night he appeared to get his targets due to Foles' poor accuracy downfield and/or drops by receivers. Is it safe to say Sproles is getting his targets at the expense of the WR's and TE's rather than McCoy? But the perception is that he's hurting McCoy because he's provided more highlight moments so far this season? And is Sproles being effective enough to maybe start eating into McCoy's touches a bit as the season wears on?thekidd2009 said:week 1 4 catches 14 receiving yards 11 carries 71 rushings yards 1 td

Yup, kudos to the guys that were on top of this - I paid no attention to Sproles assuming he'd get a 3rd down/slot type role that he's always had. Seems like he may surpass 200 touches if he stays healthy and he looks awesome doing it so far.Good call. Great call actually. Ill admit he was barely on my radar
Even with a healthy McCoy there is room enough for 2 RBs in the Eagles running offense, something like 20 carries per game for McCoy, up to 10 for Sproles... in fact it's probably ideal for Kelly. Last year at the beginning of the season McCoy was gassed due to the speed of the offense, not to mention his minor health issues with the toe and thumb. There are also good reasons to support Shady getting slightly fewer carries than last season. It's in their best interest to preserve their best player, but McCoy still gets 300 carries.
Sproles will also get his fair share of 5+ target games. Solid value, low end RB2 numbers, potentially low end RB1 weeks in PPR.
We've seen this before... remember when Payton brought Sproles to New Orleans? Kelly now makes two creative offensive coaches who have sought out Sproles. Kelly will figure out ways to use him just like Payton, and this offense can support him just like the Saints.
Sproles has only averaged 10 touches per game once in his career, and that came 3 years ago while playing with RBs no where near as talented as McCoy. He's a role player- he'll get some touches, but in no way is he going to be reliable in fantasy, even ppr.
These numbers are on a good day, just wait for a bad oneGet ready for a bunch of games like this, in between a big one here and there:
2 carries for 6 yards
3 catches for 21 yards
0 TD
Like the Magnar of Thenn, it's time for you to eat CROW.You may be thinking about Sproles 3 years ago, but the dood is getting up their in age. Could tell last year, and I remeber it was documented pretty well he wasnt getting as open as he had in the past.Even with a healthy McCoy there is room enough for 2 RBs in the Eagles running offense, something like 20 carries per game for McCoy, up to 10 for Sproles... in fact it's probably ideal for Kelly. Huh? McCoy looked great on Monday night, and so did Sproles. This has everything to do with Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense. As long as both Shady and Sproles remain healthy, both should put up great numbers weekly.Very surprised as well. Not sure how much of it is due to Foles and McCoy not looking very good, or if it will continue, but what an impressive start.

Ultimately, this is why I drafted Sproles. I figured he'd see plenty of touches in this offense. And he has low mileage for a 31 year old. I think maybe he's lost his top gear, BUT, make no mistake, the dude is still explosive!
