How can I stop my kid from screaming into XBox headset? (1 Viewer)

Schtick free here, why does he need to hear himself? I would think he only needs to hear his friends talk.
So he can control the volume of his voice.  You know how deaf people talk really loud because they can't hear themselves?  Same concept.

I'm not understanding at all. When I play I don't need to hear my own voice. Just my friends and the games.

I bet you are screaming and don't know it.  Take off your head set now and ask your mom if you are yelling.

From my quick research, I read that all Turtle Beach, all Logitech and all Astro headsets have what's called "mic monitoring" which will allow you to hear yourself in your own headset.

I have a Turtle Beach headset does my PS4 that has it and it works really well.

All shtick aside, ill order one now.  Thanks!

You people all kind of suck. There are plenty of gaming headphones that feed your own voice back into your headset so that you can hear yourself. Give me a few moments and I'll link you some.
This is the answer.  He needs a headset with something called mic monitoring.

   I was an hour too slow.

Ok, the easy method- hook up the power supply through a noise gate so when he crosses a set decibel threshold the power to the system and tv turn off, easy peasy!

I've got the same issue with my 10 year old.  I like to sneak in the room, get real close to the back of his head, and scream, "HOW'S THE GAME GOING!!!  HAVING FUN!?!?!?!".

For some reason I was just thinking that if humans all collectively chose to stop reproducing today, within 100 years the earth would start to return to its natural state, and within 200 years it would be perfect again. :staresoffintothedistance:

Tell him to pull one of the ear pads away from an ear.  Then he can hear his friends in one ear and still hears himself, and you #####ing at him, in the other ear.

I have actually tried four different ones.  The ears are so tight, you can't hear your own voice.  So you have no idea how loud you are talking.  Like deaf people who talk loud and don't know it.
You could get him one of these headsets with only one ear. That way he is forced to hear how he is talking.

Use a Bluetooth headset that goes in one ear

I'm still trying to find all these yelling deaf people. I'd like to ask them why they talk so loud when they won't be able to hear themselves no matter how loud they yell. You know, since they are deaf and all.

My wife got the turtle head set for him and the problem is solved!  The FFA comes through once again!  (Well, 1% of you)

We have a huge problem at our house.  Whenever my son plays XBox or PS4 with his friends, he has to talk really loud into his mic just to hear himself.  Is there a head set or some software that will help put a stop to this?  I can't take it anymore!
Remove the XBox. HTH

And why are they always touching all the candy???

I sympathize with you and totally understand.  My son is the same way and it is so hard to work from home when he's screaming.  I just ordered headphones with just one ear and I hope that helps.

Create a "lunk" alarm like the one at Planet Fitness. Except this one, when a certain decibel level is reached, it shuts the Xbox down.

Problem solved.

He actually just woke me up yelling into his headset fifteen minutes ago.  Apparently the new FIFA dropped.  He can hear himself, so now he's just being a punk.

Sometimes I’m more interested in how a seemingly harmless 2.5 year old thread comes back from the grave, than in the actual thread itself. This had an uninspired return. Good luck to all (from a dad with 2 teenage boys who scream into their headsets to each other, while only separated by 15 feet and one wall.)

For anyone ever in need in the future.

"Mic monitoring" is the term you want to look for when buying a headset. Xbox has it featured in their audio section as well, but it doesn't work as well as native support from the headset or audio adapter attached to the controller. Some brands don't have it even on high end models and some have it on low end stuff. Turtle beach audio adapters make any xbox(don't know about playstation) controller with any headset have this feature. My wife still uses a 5 year old adapter for this vary reason with a way better headset and controller now.

If you are having problems when it should have this feature, often you have to read the directions and set it to have the maximum mic monitoring from audio beep cues that the directions tell you what is the correct setting. HTH.

If he scream Lets go!!! Just restart the router every time he does it. He will stop. Either that or start learning all the twitch streamers names and drop them in convo with his friends to embarrass him.
