How do JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn rate with.... (1 Viewer)

If Russell and Quinn were in this years draft, where would they rank with Brohm, Woodson and Ryan? Feel free to add some of the other Qb's who were highly touted coming out of college in the last couple of years, like Young Leinart and Cutler. I'm curious if Football Nation thinks Russell will rank #1 still.

Let's hear it ....

Phyiscally, none of them compare with Russell. Ryan probably rates ahead of Quinn, though Brohm and Ryan might suffer the same fate as Quinn - too much tape. Im curious to watch Ryan in his game this weekend, but the other two Im not that impressed with.

Russell

Ryan

Quinn

Woodson

Brohm

I'm not sure, but no way I take a QB with a first rounder anymore. WAY to much chance of a bust, too much pressure on them, and too much money.

I certainly wouldn't say "no way", but there are other positions I would concentrate on. OL and DL of course, CBs and WRs probably next. I like Woodson, but I haven't been overly impressed with the QBs coming out this year. I said pretty much the same thing last year, time will tell if I'm just not a good scout of QBs, or if these years haven't been great.

The chances of a 1st round QB busting are high, but the chances of a non-first round QB busting are significantly higher, and having a bust at QB hurts the franchise enough that it's probably worth the risk of the extra wasted cap space if the QB busts in order to get a player that is less likely to bust. I mean, are you saying you'd rather go through something like the Tarvaris Jackson era than spend a high pick on a QB?
