Still watching every White Sox game. Not only are they good, they are fun to watch as mentioned previously. While I was hoping they could get a #1/2 pitcher like a Lance Lynn, I'm not sure  what kind of deal they could have made without touching part of what will be the core for the next 5-7 years (maybe Kopech/Collins/Dunning?).

I'm fine with them not doing anything because truthfully, as much as I am hoping they can win it all during this Silly Season™, most thought that 2021 was going to be the breakout year anyway. Anything earlier than that is just a fun surprise.

I do like the fact that Clevinger is leaving the AL Central.
Yeah, that team is scary good.  They look primed for the next 5 years. They also lead the league in # of necklaces per player.

But I am contractually obligated as a Royals fan to hate them.
Twins fan, so I can't actually "like" the White Sox, but they are a likeable exciting bunch (with the exception of that punk Tim Anderson).  I watch almost all Twin games, and when they play the Sox I listen to the Chicago broadcast because Stone and the other guy are so enjoyable without being overbearing homers.

Used to listen to the Sox broadcast when the Twins would win just to hear how whiny and unbearable Hawk would get.  Good times.

It seems I completely missed the announcement that double-header games are only 7 innings.  I get it, but would think even a casual fan would have been aware of a major rule change like that.  Interest is low.

Another rule change that a lot of people may not know about is that in extra innings, teams automatically  start with a man on 2nd.  And these expanded playoffs may be a permanent change (according to Manfred).

I've been enjoying both of these..
Although I will say I've been caught off guard a couple of times when I checked MLB App and saw the Twins down by 1 run going into the 7th and thinking "OK, they got a couple innings left"..

Only to open the App and hour later and see "L" 7 innings..

I'm still watching. Heck, I just love sports. It's been my hobby since I was 5 years old and I'm not stopping now.

At this point I'm 51. If there is one thing I have learned in life it's to just roll with the changes. REO Speedwagon taught me that at the 8th grade dance when I discovered I enjoyed dancing with girls.

If I don't change with the world I'm just a grumpy old man pining for the way things were. Life is too short to be grumpy all the time.

The time between these posts is all we need to know to gauge interest in baseball in this country.  Makes me sad, but I'm part of the problem.  I've maybe watched 20 minutes of MLB since NHL, NBA, CFB, and NFL have started back up.
I have watched a ton of baseball since it came back.  Probably 3 or 4  games a day (I have two TV's in my den) while working from home it's always on in the background.  It's been great.

I think they have been good trials for this weird season and are interesting twists.  I actually think moving games to 7 innings may be a way to shorten games and bring back some fans.......although it will alienate the old timers for sure.

Games seem a lot more crisp in the double headers due to the shortened game.  I think it has been somewhat better baseball.

I have been saying for years that baseball should shorten the season to about 100 games and schedule it more like football.  Only have weekend series (either Thurs-Sunday, Fri-Sun, or Fri-Mon) to make the games more like an event.  You cut down on the number of starters that you need so pitching won't be so diluted and with there being less games the games become more meaningful.  Seeing how this 60 game season has gone the lesser games leading to the games having more meaning is definitely true.  They will never do it but I think it's closer now after this experimental season.

I'm glad for you.  But I think you are in the vast minority.

Being in a fantasy baseball league for sure helps with the interest.  I really have not been able to get into the basketball or hockey playoffs like I usually do.  For some reason it just seems blah for the games I have watched.  Not like normal playoff intensity.

Really? These have been the best NBA playoffs in a while imo.

I like the 7 inning double headers. And correct me if I'm wrong, but the extra innings runner on 2nd is just regular season, right? As long as that's the case while I don't like it I'm not going to pick the battle. I will with expanded playoffs though. That better not happen. Not without major changes to the regular season anyway.

Been watching every White Sox game this year. They just took 3 of 4 from the Twins, best record in the AL and clinched a playoff spot today with 10 games left so it's been fun.

He seems to have a good rapport with the players, but his postseason decision-making is awful.  They should have made him an assistant gm or something and hired a better tactician.
I watch nearly every Dodgers game.   His decision-making is always awful, but over the regular season or this year's 60 games, talent wins out.   In a shortened series, his poor management when it comes to pitchers and pinch hitters is more glaring, and more disastrous.

He is a terrible playoff manager.  Like you said, he is fine for the regular season but his decisions in the playoffs really hurt the Dodgers and is the direct reason why they haven't won a world series the last few years.  Forget about the sign stealing, it really was his game management in the playoffs.

Woohoo, Brew Crew make quite the push to get into the playoffs!

#Thisismycrew
Quite the push? They never were above .500. They aren't going anywhere. Their offense is too inconsistent. Wouldn't surprise me if they get no-hit or 1-hit in the couple of playoff games they play.

That being said, go Brewers

Two questions:

1) They only have four games today. Why would MLB have overlapping games?

2) I thought these games were in a pseudo-bubble - only in TX and CA. No? This game appears to be in MN.

First round is in the home park of the top 4 seeds.  Then I think they go to the bubble, I think?

3 teams from the AL East going at it today. White Sox looking for the easy win at Oakland.
There are no easy wins for the White Sox down the stretch......first team to clinch a playoff spot in the AL and finished 3rd in their division.....plus their bullpen has been terrible....

ETA:  Although if Giolito no hits the A's the bullpen doesn't have a chance to blow it.....

Insanity pitching to Freddie there - Reds fans have to be pulling their hair out after that loss and as a Braves fan I can totally relate.

ESPN has Justin Turner miked and the announcers are talking to him constantly. Asking questions in between pitches while he’s playing third base, interviewing from the dugout the entire time the dodgers are hitting. It’s unbearable.

Twins are an epic fail if/when they make it into the playoffs.

Same old Twins. Can't even blame the Yankees this year.
18 straight playoff losses.  Incontheivable.
Was chatting with my manager yesterday during the late part of the game..
We started talking about the losing streak and I said "Well, if you are going to set a record for most losses in a row in the Playoffs, you might as well set the bar REALLY high"..
Next pitch Houston hits a homer..
Manager responded with "That one is on you" :lmao:

Sutcliffe is basically unlistenable. He's horrible.
I hope they asked him about the passing of Jay Johnstone,  one of baseball's great personalities from the 70s.

from wiki-

Johnstone pulled off a number of infamous pranks during his playing days, including placing a soggy brownie inside Steve Garvey's first base mitt, setting teammates' cleats on fire (known as "hot-footing"), cutting out the crotch area of Rick Sutcliffe's underwear,
