How do YOU listen to the Audible? (1 Viewer)

Guys-

First and foremost, thanks for listening to The Audible. It is truly exciting to get the show out to the masses, and I hope you enjoy the show. Our rating on Itunes keeps going up and up, and we get a large listening audience for most every episode.

What I'd like to know is, how do you listen to the show? Itunes? Other media players? Ipod? Other mp3 devices? On the way to work? At home?

We always appreciate feedback on the show, and have recently started to transcribe our interviews with beat writers from around the league.

And finally, any requests for music to bump in with? I would love feedback on this because all I want to use is Anthrax. :pokey:

Ipod all the way . . . I usually listen when I'm in the car . . . MUCH better than listening to the sports radio networks that have like 30% commercial time . . .

the show itself is perfect; you talk to all the blogs I read (Sando, Curnutte, etc) . . . the Draft series had EXCELLENT depth; it's a lot better than listening to ESPN Radio and hearing them talk about Vick and Favre for the billionth time . . .

keep up the GREAT work!!!

Ipod for me too. I listen some in the car, while mowing the lawn, and at home sometimes. Thought the draft rundown was AWESOME. My only suggestion is to keep working on the sound quality. It seems to be getting better though. (The latest thing I noticed was a typewritter type sound.(for those of you who know what a typewriter is)..It was wierd). I also hope news and notes becomes more frequent the closer we get into the season.

By the way...what do you guys have planned the closer we get to the FF season and in season. I am also wondering if this is going to remain free to all or will this move to subscriber content (if that can be done).

Download through iTunes on to my iPod. Then listen to it in my car during my Monday-Friday commute. No time to listen at home with the family. That's why one suggestion is to get the Audible out earlier in the week, so I have time to listen before the weekend.

Also, many of us who listen to it in the car have to connect by FM transmitter or by tape deck converter, both of which degrade audio quality. Anything you guys can do to improve the Audible's audio quality will make the end produt better for the listener. Some episodes are bad enough that I give up.

For example, often times, Cecil is clear, but the guest is not. The volume disparity is really great, so I have to keep adjusting my volume to hear.

And, no offense, but I'd get rid of the musical intros. I always try to find a way to fast forward past it and get to the substance. And it's worse when the volume of the intro doesn't match the rest of the 'cast.

IPod

At work

Rush, Suicidal Tendancies, Iron Maiden

Don't change anything. The show is great the way it is. We just need more of it.

I also listen to it through my iPod in my car. I believe the mp3 are 64 kbps which leave alot of room for improvement in the sound quality (320 kbps being the highest).

I believe it was the Bengals interview where I hear someone lighting their cigarette a couple of times!!

I really like it though and appreciate the hard work you guys put in.

Re: music. Danzig, Dokken, Ratt, Led Zeppelin, Rush, etc.

iPod at work. I don't miss an episode (except for the few that iTunes won't put on my iPod for no reason I can determine).

Kill the Bugs Bunny bit at the end, please.

Intro music: just more Yanni and Enya - you've had a lot of it, but I always crave more.

Thanks again, more insiders to come!
keep up the GREAT work!!!
Done! :bye:

The Audible will be FREE. Plans for closer to the season:

Injury Report

Preseason Watch List - Every Team - most every player

Preseason Game recaps

College Football Preview

Plans for in season:

weekly injury report

weekly trader joes

weekly IDP show

recap shows (released Sunday night or Monday - depending on Broncos schedule)

preview shows - with Dodds joining the booth (released Thu night/Fri morning)

with all the contacts we've made (and continue to make) expect to see some beat writers on during the week to get to the bottom of player information.

I even hope to get Joe Bryant on the show! :bye:

it's a cassette converter; sound is good enough for me . . .

We are currently releasing shows the day they are recorded. I plan on having that schedule during the season as well.
Also, many of us who listen to it in the car have to connect by FM transmitter or by tape deck converter, both of which degrade audio quality. Anything you guys can do to improve the Audible's audio quality will make the end produt better for the listener. Thanks for the feedback, as aforementioned we are always looking to improve sound quality. I actually normalize the audio, which makes all of us talk at the same db level. There are a couple of things that will counteract normalizing.1) If a guy trails off when he is talking.2) If his cell phone has poor reception.I reduce the hiss levels, as well as manually raise any db levels that are low. We certainly keep striving for better sound quality.
And, no offense, but I'd get rid of the musical intros. I always try to find a way to fast forward past it and get to the substance. And it's worse when the volume of the intro doesn't match the rest of the 'cast.
I have responded to listeners from last year, and no longer have 40 second - 1 minute intros. I keep most of the music to 10 seconds or less. The music either reflects my mood - or it's a request from a beat writer/listener, or it matches the theme of the show (dynasty theme for dynasty philosophy show). I actually make sure that the song doesn't exceed -3 db, most of the audio from talking is normalized to a higher level. Thanks for the feedback again!

ipod - to and from work usually.

great stuff - i love the variety of content you've had so far. and the draft recap was fantastic stuff. i really liked how you got away from grading the draft and spent more time describing how precisely the players fit into the teams' plans.

Thanks man! I was just listening to Lights, Camera, Revolution yesterday! And I must listen to Maiden at least once a week. :headbang:

There are some funny noises that microphones/cell phones pick up. The typing noise is a wierd phenomenon that has popped up in a couple of episodes. I can hear it when we are recording. I run a click/pop/hiss eliminator but it doesn't take out the full effect. :headbang:All those music requests will easily make the cut!

Thanks for listening Tick! I could probably create entire conversations with nothing but Bugs Bunny quotes. :headbang:Yanni is AWESOME.

I would say the majority of the time I listen at my desk via windows media player. Goes great with morning coffee. :headbang: Once in a while I d/l the shows to go, but not too often.

The new shows you are planning sound great.

I like the show. I listen while going to pick up my kids for the weekend, cleaning around the house and anytime I get a chance.

The upcoming plan sounds good to me. I like a little musical intro and the other podcasts I listen to have a little music intro as well. It gets me pumped up for the show.

I get the show from Itunes downloaded to my Ipod.

Keep up the excellent show and maybe I will call in one day!

Thanks as always for listening brother!News and Notes should stay a weekly show with various FBG staff members!

Just PM'd you the studio line! We'd love to hear from all the listeners! PM me or Bloom for the number.

Two ways...

First, Madden freak here. Sometimes I'll download the MP3 and add it to the soundtrax, so I can actually listen to something worthwhile while playing.

Second, I'll email myself the mp3 at work. Beats the hell out of sports radio!!

Keep up the good work. :lmao:

Damn! I am going to do that Madden style! big time :lmao:

Itunes

Massive fan of NYC hardcore so plenty of sick off it all and madball right here

and bring on suicidal tendencies

I would have to tip my hat if you worked in the oompah loompah tune

I thought that was Cecil doing the show from the barber's chair while getting a haircut.I download from iTunes and listen on my iPod shuffle while jogging in the morning. Rarely miss an episode. My only complaint is that the "BABY!" after "Oklahoma State Cowboys" isn't enthusiastic enough. Please correct that.

You know, I am so programmed to listen to music when I walk/jog/ride my bike for exercise that I never even considered anything else. I think I'm going to give this a try. Hopefully I won't lose the tiny bit of rhythm that I have.

One more thing...for those of you reading this thread who have never listened...LISTEN.

There is some valuable information, and to me, it is nice to not always have to read to get it. :bs:

I am a 70's classic rock and roll fan (Zep #1), but I would actually like to here some Motown classics once in a while.

Cecil, you are right...that first episode sound quality was bad. You guys have come a long way since those early shows.

Hey Mex. I was one of those that panned your first couple of shows. That major "PA" was killing me. I have to say that you have come around and the show is awesome now. Things I like:

1) How you and Bloom do not always agree on a subject or player. Makes for a great segment.

2) How many shows you guys are putting out. Good quality stuff several times a week. Trust me, we know how tough that job is and we appreciate it.

3) The depth. Not only are you covering everything out there, but you go into such depth that we are not missing anything about it.

4) Music intro is great. Don't change a thing.

Room for improvements.

1) Bugs ending. If the only thing we can complain about it the ending, that should tell you a lot.

Answer to your questions:

I listen through ITunes on my Treo using PocketTunes. I manually move over all of my pods onto my phone and sd card and listen going to and from work.

Keep up the GREAT work. Dave.

How...MP3 player downloaded off of Itunes

Where...in my car, I travel a lot. I was going to buy satellite radio but your podcast and others saved me $$

First...Great job...best sports talk show there! The only show I listen to that I actually learn something new from. You inform and entertain, most shows just entertain if you are lucky.

Small criticizisms or suggestions, some times when you speak to people on the phone their voices are kinda muffled (especially if they have a low voice) but it is most likely their phones not you....

Music...please no rap, I just find it sooo annoying. I have seen requests for old metal...how about some punk like the Clash? But anything but country and rap and I am happy.

again...great job guys!!

I download from Itunes and listen on my ipod while I'm working around the house, which is usually a couple of hours a week...

Keep doing what you're doing; the Lammey/Bloom chemistry is great and you guys are the next Hope and Crosby. You're not going to please everyone with the song intros anyway, so you might as well please yourself. People would still keep listing to them even if you played Clay Aiken in the intros.

Love that you are talking to all the beat writers. Great information being shared out there.

This is a corny suggestion, but it would it be fun if you could get Frank Caliendo to do an Audible. He would be a good fit for you guys and I know you guys like to inject humor into your broadcasts.

BTW- Great sig, Cecil

I listem via I tunes on my laptop as I workI just bought an INsignina MP3 player .... probably a stupid question but what vehicle do you use to transfer from I Tunes to your player? Thanks

I use windows player at work and listen while I'm on the computer. Great stuff!

I listen on my iPod in the car - better than listening to Colin Cowturd or Dan Patrick. A vote for adding Bad Religion to the bumper music. The lengthy interviews of the beat writers is great - so much more information comes out in that setting in my opinion. Keep up the good work. :lmao:

I couldn't agree with Dave more. The Bugs ending is the only thing I could complain about too.The show is brilliant. The personalities of the FBG staff you have on the show works really well and makes for good entertainment. The fact that your getting quality guests in for interviews is fantastic. The depth of your analysis is second to none, I don't know where I would be without it.

As for some music for the intros.....how about some Dandy Warhols, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club & Beastie Boys

I usually listen to the show while I'm working, either on my mp3 player or having the mp3 saved on my usb drive and listen to it on my work laptop. Sometimes I even will burn a few episodes to a cd and listen to them in the car

Ipod - On my way to work. I like the music intros.. more classic rock (Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimi, Doors etc.. and more Johnny Cash).

Geaux Tigers!

Off topic, but audio books are great for this. I just zone out and listen to the book, then snap out of it and realize I've been walking for 40 minutes.

Frankly, I don't listen to the audible. Yes, I'm a dinosaur... I dont own an Ipod, MP3, etc. I'd like to listen to it, but I'm not inclined to register, sign up, or buy an Ipod either. Make it easier to hear on line, I'll be in the audience. Until then....

You can listen via windows media player right on your computer. You don't have to sign up for anything. Just click a link and that's it.
