How I Met Your Mother (1 Viewer)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B10IUzsOR6g = a brief history of Sarah Chalke on Roseanne.
Wow... that show was really self-indulgent.
I would not say that. The show Roseanne overall is one of the top 10 shows, maybe even top 5 of the 90's and definitely in the top 25, give or take a handful, shows of all time... comedies that is.
Either you didn't watch the clip or you don't know what "self-indulgent" means. As far as "top comedies" goes, I hope you are referring to its ratings and not its quality. That show was awful from beginning to end.

No way. Ratings and quality were top notch. The show did many things that other comedies have not done especially in the time it was in. The last couple of seasons had a big decline but overall the show was great.

I have only seen the naughty pumpkin and 200,000 mile fiero episodes of this show but got the first two seasons from a friend. Hope the show lives up two those episodes. :kicksrock: Barney is awesome.

Loved the return of the Fiero in the last episode when Marshall got pulled over.

So they pioneered a trail to terrible. Good for them.
I'll give Roseanne its due - first few season were very different for the day - fat, ugly houswife with fat ugly husband. White trash type family with bratty kids working menial jobs trying to get bye - not politically correct ...I personally feel this was done already with Married with Children but Roseanne was more mainstream and not insulting to women. Roseanne was the poster board for angry oridinary housewives at the time who liked her snappy comebacks and nasty attitude. I actually liked the show for a few seasons - John Goodman was very funny.

I'm on about episode 10 or 11 now, its a great show. Just wish they would use Robbin as like a coat hanger and not have any lines. She downs the whole show a few notches.

wait until they get into her "past life" that she refuses to talk about. comedy gold.

Speaking of which, did anyone notice in last week's ep that Ted's Ringtone is 'Lets go to the Mall'

So......the mother is one of Ted's future students? Or a T.A.?
That is the implication, with the meeting two weeks ago being so important because it's how Ted got the teaching job.It also opens up plenty of jokes about creepy teacher/student relationships.

Yikes, visible green screen when Marshall was on the ledge. Looked like his foot wasn't attached to his leg when it bled through at one point... that's enough for someone to be fired over.

Oh, and the Ghostbusters "He's looking at me, he's looking right at me" had me

I like HIMYM better than Friends, but the student/teacher thing has been done.

SIMPSONS DID IT

Yes, but what did it have to do with yellow umbrella episode?
just spitballing here.... but my guess is that the mother has been other places besides Ted's class room in her life.
My guess to tie it all together. It is raining so Ted takes the yellow umbrella to class, he gets there a little late so everyone sees him walk in with the yellow umbrella, after class a student/TA/other Prof tells him that they lost an umbrella just like that one at this bar. :queuepornmusic: Ted has a kid.

Love the show -on a show called how I Met your Mother - when is he going to met the friggen mother - nothing four friggen years -

what was up with the yellow umbrella and it will be season 7 before be even meets the mother

do you want the show to end? cause there's probably not a whole lot else they can do after he finds the mother. guess they could date for a while and lead up to an engagement or wedding. good news is the show is on cbs schedule for the fall.

SO how did they get down?
That's what I want to know. They would have to jump UP to get back to their building. So they'd need somebody from the other building to let them in.

My problem with having the series end with meeting the mother is that we would have no sense on why she's the one. I think that would be a rip-off. Now, it doesn't have them dating for a bunch of seasons and stuff - but if the series ends with the line, "And, kids, that's I met your mother" with the kids reacting to that - well, I wouldn't be happy with that.

 The show can keep going through dating, engagement, marriage, having the kids, and then to the "current time", voice over would end, but that's ok. There's really no reason to stop this show at a given point. The premise might not be to show all that, but if there's demand, there will be supply.

You guys really watch this show because you care about when and how Ted meets his wife? Who gives a ####, it's funny. The 'how I met your mother' thing is just a vehicle to tie everything together.

Ted is the main character, and also the least interesting character.
:coffee:
Agreed1. Barney2. Marshall3. The Chicks Barney nails4. Robin5. Lilly6. Ted
I dunno. I'd put Robin last. While she is hot, she is boring IMO. I think Ted can bring the funny alot of times.I'd say Barney, Marshall, Ted, Lilly, Robin.
I guess I am blinded by her looks...and I kinda dig the Canadian references she throws out at times!

I think that's where the show will evolve too.. Ted is merely the medium by which we get to observe these interesting characters....

Barney

Lily

Marshal

Robin

the crazy bartender

ted

i think i saw somewhere that the narrator is bob sagat? If so - another move by him where he gets his beak into a hit series!

I think it's getting less funny and more sappy though. The whole Stella storyline was very bad.

gotta love the fact that the writers/producers have people talking about this show like it's ####### LOST. IT'S A ####### COMEDY!

Just laugh and hope it doesn't get cancelled
