Hurricane Sandy (3 Viewers)

County exec Mangano just said that main road (and only road) into Bayville is unpassable and may get undermined. That town always floods. A poster on my Jets board was still there. I literally fear for his life. This storm could wipe that town and all of it's building right into the LI Sound. Bayvillers are stubborn. My guess is that there are a whole lot of people who didn't evacuate. Now... they will literally have to sink or swim. Scary stuff. No rescue attempts possible.

If it's true that the Wildwood beach is completely underwater as was reported earlier in this thread, that is incredible. That's the biggest beach I've ever seen. We went there a day after Irene last year, the ocean was a little less than halfway to the boardwalk and even that seemed almost impossible to imagine before then.

My family has been going to Lavallette for vacation for over 25 years, tiny town just north of Seaside Heights, and I would imagine total devastation there. It sits between the bay and the ocean on a strip of land off the coast, pretty much sits right at sea level. Going to take them a long time to recover that beach, if they ever can. :( Friends who live in town thankfully already evacuated awhile ago, I hope everyone was smart and got outta Dodge.

As for our area and NYC, I've heard the Lincoln and midtown tunnels are still open, but the Holland Tunnel and GWB/Verrazano I know are closed and probably a few others. But honestly there is no reason to be traveling either into or out of the city at this point.

I'm in north NJ about 20 minutes west of the city. We were supposed to move to our new house today but instead we're riding this out in the apartment. Brick walls, not too many large trees in the immediate area but still worried about what this'll be like when this storm actually gets here. Tons of friends down the shore haven't been too fortunate, already hearing about some personal damage to property. Praying they and any FBGs in that area stay safe!

Vivian Brown started her shift on The Weather Channel a little while ago and I can't watch her without thinking of that simple Uruk-Hai slobbering over her big juicy booty. :lmao:
:goodposting: :lmao:
Her butt was just over my area on the map! And about 10 miles due west of me area, you could see pink - you know, where the snow is
:lmao:
Whaddaya think? Loony bin with adjoining rooms? We could have our loved ones smuggle in booze for us when we watch the Ravens and talk about how good Glen & Lyle Blackwood would look in Ravens' uniforms right now.

Howard used to have great bits about Jackie Martling having the same mindset. Closeknit town and the whole bit

Power kept going on and off and got much worse in the last hour.

The contraction is coming closer and closer... I think the outage baby may arrive any minute.

Telephone pole snapped about 4 houses up. Don't think I'll be having power for a while. I'm in union county nj. At least I have plenty of booze

Not to mention, I took the advice earlier in this thread to crank my heat up to warm up the place.

I've been sweating like Jim11 at am NAACP rally for hours.

Not happy/

The last four pages of this thread have been a big let down. More storm pics please.
I can show pics of my neighbors leaves blown into my yard... the stupid tree that used to hold all the leaves may end up in my kid's bedroom, but nothing much to report yet in CT.

Ok, who hasn't checked in lately? Yankeefan? Otis? zamboni? otb?
Bunch more power flickering, wind picking up, but still have power and no trees down yet. I understand we're still a few hours from the bad part, which is supposed to extend overnight.

When the wind picks up, it seriously sounds being on the runway at JFK when a plane is taking off. Sounds like a jet engine.

This storm has made me realize that being out of school without a girlfriend makes these things boring. I get to talk to you guys and listen to radio scanners as opposed to getting drunk and playing beer pong or lying in bed all day with nothing else to do but the dirty deed. Heck if I had a gf, I'd probably be hoping for the power to go out. But until the power goes out, more fun with you guys.

:banned:

Right after we closed on the house about 3 weeks ago, we decided to have a tree removed from the yard that was no more than 10 feet from the house. Guy who removed it told me it was actually four trees that fused into one. Just humongous. Guy who took it down showed me the trunk after it was out. All water logged and rotted out. He goes, Good thing you took this out. Next big storm and this thing woulda definitely fell.

Wait. Where's The_Man? Along with roadkill and James Daulton (where the hell is HE, come to think of it), there's only about 4 regular Ravens posters (shut up, yinzers).
