Hurricane Sandy (1 Viewer)

Man, these reporters are dumb. NBC10 reporter from Philly reporting from the boardwalk in Atlantic City is now stuck on the boardwalk as their car is flooded in at the access road. Said he will probably have to camp out on the boardwalk tonight. That will end up being a bad decision when high tide hits in about 4-6 hours.

Lost power around 5 pm. My in-laws live about ten minutes away, and they still have power, so we made the decision to pack up and head over to their house. GL all.

I hate to ask, but what happens at low-ground animal shelters? Is there any way to save all those cats and pups? :(
Ours isn't too low, but last year during the hurricane we kept people there all night. It's on backup natural gas generator. If there had been an issue they would have moved the animals to higher ground. One tree did hit the building but there was only minimal damage. Spent the day cutting up downed trees and chucking huge logs into the woods.

Hopefully they planned ahead and got them out.One tropical storm that hit Houston in the middle of the night, I stayed up to watch and the radio station was broadcasting a call for help from a shelter that was flooding and they still had the animals there, wanted anyone in the area who would to come pick some up. Way too far for me to be able to help with it already flooding. :(

:lmao: Good thing they keep Sheena in the studio.

Fitting for an angry ##### named Sandy I just cracked open a Hell Hath No Fury Ale from Bell's Brewery.

According to my plat there used to be a stream running through my property. Maybe I'll get it back.
The house I grew up in was a beach front house until the storm in '38 clogged the inlet turning that waterfront into swamp. Wonder if the guy that bought it from my parents about 10 years ago (just prior to real estate taking off) is about to win the lottery.Getting nasty in Eastern Baltimore County. That storm in '38 is supposedly the benchmark, with Agnes being the worst in my life time. Seems that the models keep sliding the path over land further south. Call me boring, but I can let the existing records stand and Sandy can come up far short of historic as far as I'm concerned.

Hurricane tip #8: As the storm approaches, tell all the hot chicks at the grocery store that you are from Florida and you can help them "board up their house."
What else is there to do with no power. Hot chics need to stay warm too.
:goodposting: And when you don't have hot chicks. Bottoms up. :banned:
I'm in favor of hot chicks having their bottoms up, too.
I'm also a fan of bottoms off.

When the wind picks up, it seriously sounds being on the runway at JFK when a plane is taking off. Sounds like a jet engine.
Been without power for 3 hrs. Mercer Co. NJ. Suffered some minor damage in back yard. Agree wind is brutal. Giant tree fell across main road closing it. Lots of minor damage around neighborhood.

I know there are tens of millions of viewers in the northeast who need to know what's going on but it would be very nice if Weather Channel could spare three minutes to get a feed from Bluefield showing the blizzard down there. That's interesting, too. Cantore hasn't really had anything new to say all day and he gets six spots an hour.

Stupid people from a distance are entertaining.

Yeah man, like during Katrina they didn't show the rain in the Northeast, just worrying about the life/death situation and life changing evens that happened in New Orleans.

:shurg: I don't know, I'd just like three damn minutes on it.Power outages here in central Maryland just spiked to 85,000. And they're working their way in my direction.

Crazy stuff on WABC 7. Reporter live on South Street Manhattan, East and Hudson River meeting on the street and transformers blowing up with her on the phone(had to get off the live feed)

Yeah police told her to leave early cuz the water was going to meet the high voltage buildings.
