Hurricane Sandy (3 Viewers)

If New York gets hammered by storm surge, are we going to see threads about how a city shouldn't be built that's so vulnerable to hurricanes/storm surge??
No. NYC has redeeming qualities.
NOLA > NYC IMO
New York is a great, unique city.So is New Orleans. The fact that people can't see that is sad.
Alright take this elsewhere. I love and supported NOLA through K, it deserves to stand as does NYC. Come on now.

You really think that clown is worthy of consideration? As if he has the slightest idea what he's talking about?

Blizzard warning, High wind warning, and flood warning for my county in VA
When I last saw the map, I wondered about your area. It looks like the mountains on the western side of the valley are gonna get it.Daggone thing is breaking west towards northern Maryland, where I am, and south central Pa. Don't like this at all. Uruk, whatever relatives you left behind in Deale are getting big time weather right now.

Wind really getting gnarly out here. Much worse already than in last year's hurricane. Power flickered a few times but amazingly we are still up and running. Won't likely be for all that much longer.

Good luck everyone, stay safe.

2000 feet and above could get up to 12". I'm below that and, as you say, east of the 3rd ridge. But temps are supposed to drop in the 30s down at my elevation so wouldn't be shocked to see some snow. I don't think it can stick to the ground but maybe the leaves.Bunker down, gb

Agree completely. No offense intended.

I think they are the two most interesting big cities in the U.S.

Code Red. Code Red.

I have just finished the last of my beef jerky rations. Still have a couple cans of Pringles, and a bag of mini oreos.
Any relatives you aren't fond of staying with you?
:lmao: I am stocked up on water, but I did a horrible job of stocking up on food. Cooking some spaghetti now. I have no way of cooking if the power goes out, which stinks. I live in a condo. Can't have a grill.
CAMP STOVE FTWHave a single burner unit in my emergency supplies with 2 tanks of propane ready to go.
Cool. I will have to check it out. Saw some sites that suggest a sterno stove for indoor cooking.

I wonder if the storm will revive the Sandy name for dudes. There hasn't been a respectable Sandy since Koufax, and don't give me Alomar, Jr.

I don't want them to get that criticism because it's really dumb. Just pointing that out.But you are right, no offense intended to the folks in New York. I hope to God nothing really bad happens.

Got stuck in NJ when my flight got cancelled. Moved to NC 2 months after Floyd in 1999 and Raleigh has not had a Hurricane since...13 years later, the first Hurricane I "get to experience" is in NJ...wish i could have had a couple more years on that tally. Hope every one is safe...power starting to flicker here in Essex Fells, NJ.

I just opened a fortune cookie and it said

"The only rose without a thorn is friendship"

so suck on that Brett Micheals

stay strong all my roses!

Audio feed is definitely more "Frantic" than before lunch.

They are apparently shuttling "Dump truck loads" of people to the firehouse now :lmao:

Dumptruck: MVP Of Hurricane Sandy 2012
did the feed die? I went out to pick up my daughter from school and came back to a feed that won't play.
