My point being living off the land...... being self sufficient.....being able to survive without your latte, and your tablet.......there's a big world of "rural" people out there, outside of the urban centers. I've lived in both environments, and I typically prefer the rural folks for their common sense, down to earth ways......and in my anecdotal evidence, small town people are more accepting of "different" people......as long as you are not a POS.While I strongly support deer hunting, b/c they're a damn nuisance, skinning a deer is no longer a vital life skill.
I feel a little weird this time around because I've historically supported the Libertarian candidate more often than not. But I know absolutely nothing about Jorgensen. She (I do believe she's female?) could be a fantastic candidate or a loon. I have no idea. And I've never even heard of Spike.I read every post here, read a lot online and watched a lot too. There were a ton of great posts and good info here and I thank you for that. Some said I was looking for a reason to vote Trump, they couldn't have been more wrong. It was completely the opposite.
I voted Jorgensen-Spike.
I couldn't bring myself to vote Biden. I know he won't make a full term and I do not want a President Harris. Likewise I couldn't go Trump this time. I like his policies a lot but really want some sense of normalcy brought back to this country. I know it won't happen in the next four years regardless who wins (Which I believe Trump will be re-elected). I honestly didn't know who I was voting for even while standing in the booth until my pen went to Jorgensen.
So I will live with the results for the next 4 years and hope to hell both parties come to their senses and put up good candidates and bring this fractured country back together.
Are you just reciting lyrics from A Country Boy Can Survive? Sorry...its a joke there as much of what you have been describing are in that song.My point being living off the land...... being self sufficient.....being able to survive without your latte, and your tablet.......there's a big world of "rural" people out there, outside of the urban centers. I get it, not all city folk are helpless outside of their bubble, just like not all rural folk are racist, and poorly educated.
I just get kinda salty cuz I'm tired of hearing over and over about how all the rural trumpers must be delusional and poorly educated.......it's not that simple.
We lost the moral high ground even nominating Trump. Just walked away from it willingly. You can't claim moral superiority when your candidate is amoral.Conservatives don't care about race so much as they care about morals/values......not saying they are morally superior
Libs like to use identity as a crutch or advantage or an explanation.......some of it is true, and should be used.......it's gotten crazy though and way overdone
Is he really any more amoral than any of the guys before him recently? They're all bought by the highest bidder......with Trump he's just wearing it on his sleeve. We lost the moral high ground even nominating Trump. Just walked away from it willingly. I think that's true but that has been the same tactic used by both parties since before I was born. Just out of curiosity, what year do you think it started?I'm in total agreement and fully support these ideas.
It is also unfortunately 100% true that the left's primary tactic to push them is indeed fear/shaming.
Kudos. Applaud the struggle and honesty. I took a break from this site and most media for the last week+. I was getting pretty severe anxiety (ie waking up in cold sweats, headaches, etc). I don't feel good about our country either outcome and truly believe nothing is going to fix it near term. Nor do I see a savior in the wings.I read every post here, read a lot online and watched a lot too. There were a ton of great posts and good info here and I thank you for that. Going to verify this of course, but if true you just made my decision tomorrow a whole lot easier. From Jorgensen's wiki page:
>>Jorgensen opposes government mask mandates, considering wearing a face mask to be a matter of personal choice. She argues that mask-wearing would be widely adopted without government intervention because market competition would drive businesses to adopt either mask-required or mask-optional policies, allowing consumers the freedom to choose their preferred environment. Jorgensen has invoked the analogy of dollar voting to explain how consumer preferences would shape businesses' policies on face masks in the absence of a government mandate. <<
Applying the same thinking to seat belts led to hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. Reagan and many in the GOP were against seat belt laws. The USA was later to the game than many countries. We paid for this thinking with blood and higher car insurance rates. With mask resistance, we'll pay with deaths and higher health insurance rates.
I don't get it.
I don’t know much about JJ either, but recently realized I voted for her in 1996. She was Harry Browne’s running mate that year.I feel a little weird this time around because I've historically supported the Libertarian candidate more often than not. But I know absolutely nothing about Jorgensen. She (I do believe she's female?) could be a fantastic candidate or a loon. I have no idea. And I've never even heard of Spike.
In any case, I heartily endorse your choice, as I believe a vote for anyone but Trump is an excellent vote. I also commend you for researching and considering a wider range of candidates than I did.
Man, that stinks. I guess that’s one benefit in being in a family where almost all vote one way - all my family will vote Trump except for my household but I will refuse to talk about it except with my Mother. To be fair though - nobody has asked me in the past and I doubt they will this time either.Kudos. Applaud the struggle and honesty. I took a break from this site and most media for the last week+. My family is splintering at the seams (ie 50/50 split). My great-aunt of 98 years old (Texas) just disavowed my dad (New York) because he wouldn't denounce Biden as a socialist. My uncles on my moms side (LGBT) have been very direct in they're pulling back from the family (ie aunt and cousins are die-hard trumpers).
Sigh...here goes a hellish 24+ hours. I have a 17 year old Balbair scotch ready to be uncorked for tomorrow night. Looking for any silver lining.
Agreed. Capitalism doesn’t solve all problems, and freedom of choice is problematic when those choices adversely impact people other than the one doing the choosing. From Jorgensen's wiki page:

I don't want to derail the discussion but this is a ridiculous stance that shows she doesn't either doesn't understand science or doesn't care about the welfare of her fellow Americans. From Jorgensen's wiki page:

Haven't we been in a stalemate the last 2 years and it has been a disaster? Also the every other method isn't going to produce balance as some positions carry far more value than others. Interesting approach though.I voted alternating dem/republican down the ballot.
I'd prefer a stalemate than for either party to have its way right now.
I feel the same way about Hawkins... he sucks even for a Green party candidate but generally they're the closest to what I'm looking for so I gave them my vote to hopefully help meet some matching funding thresholds and/or get them automatic ballot access.I get the idea of voting Libertarian (don't care for Biden/Trump) but doesn't it also kind of feel like a waste of time? I know if enough people would vote 3rd Party it could eventually make a difference but Jorgenson ain't it. Rarely has a the main 3rd party candidate ever got so little attention. She's lost race after race after race in her life. There's nothing there.

Very fair point, depends where you live. I’m in a swing State so I suppose that clouds my view on it.Some would say voting either Trump or Biden in a solid red or blue State is a waste of time
Definitely true the tactic is not new.BoltBacker said:I think that's true but that has been the same tactic used by both parties since before I was born. Just out of curiosity, what year do you think it started?
I consider the inability of Trump to deliver on his promises a good thing.Ilov80s said:Haven't we been in a stalemate the last 2 years and it has been a disaster? Many people (maybe about 40%) are moderates trying to decide which party/candidate will have the most positive and least negative impact on their lives. The 20-30% on either side drive the narratives, do all the heavy lifting, create the stereotypes....the rest of us decide which side deserves a shot to make things marginally better.I consider the inability of Trump to deliver on his promises a good thing.
I consider the inability of the left to do much during this time to also be a good thing.
Both sides too far out there right now.
