Indefinite Las Vegas Raiders thread (8 Viewers)

I would be willing to accept less compensation if they take agree to take Minshew too.
the only way I’d want that is if it’s those 2 for tyreek.

Minshew has already proven to me he is better than half of what is starting currently in the league.

I can only guess that you are closer to 60 than to 50 :boxing:

If you try real hard I believe you can guess other things too.

Minshew is a big, fat meh-burger, or mid-burger to use the parlance of our times. Ditch him, turn it over to O'Connell and let's start seeing if there are any players on this team.

Speaking of which What the heck is a Charles Snowden and can the Raiders go get some more of that, please?

I’d be excited to see what a Meyers, Tucker, Turner, Bowers, Mayer receiving corpe looks like since we know we’re not going very far this year. A shame we never were able to take advantage of having Adams on the roster. Man, we suck.
I think they are pretty comfortable with that group, and can make it work. Maybe part of why Adams can be traded. More targets for Bowers and Tucker, might be nice.

Seems reasonable, especially since it'll probably end up being a low 2nd rounder.
Part of our comp to get Cam Ward.

CALLING IT
Yea, trading him to get draft capital to move if we need to.... makes sense.

It seems something happened to sour the relationship between Raider and Tae. But, watching him on the WR show, I can see how his frustration (understandable) could really impede what AP and the staff want to do. Older player who is valuable in a year we are likely still outside the playoff bubble on with a hefty price in contract next year.... makes sense. And slam dunk make sense if Tae asked to be traded.

And money.

If you are Team Adams, and you wanted to stay in LV, someone should have been talking about adjusting his deal. SO if you KNOW you getting cut in the offseason, and the team isn't in a rush to redo the deal, maybe it makes sense. And I also have to think this rash of WR injuries has created a market.

How plausible is it that Aaron Rodgers engineers this deal? :tinfoilhat:

Has anyone suggested New Orleans as a landing spot?

They have a long, long history of restructuring contracts to kick the cap can down the road, their offense is predictably turning into a pumpkin, their WR/TE room is shallow AF and lost in all the talk of Aaron Rodgers people seem to forget that Davante's bestie is Derek Carr.

I don't think they have salary room for it.... I was amazed how they got out from under salary cap hell and still have a competitive team. I guess I could go look on Over the Cap but I am not that motivated right now. I kind of would like to see them reunite again though. It sucked that Tae came to us and then we let the biggest reason why he came to us go and replaced him with Jimmy "Noodle Arm" G.

And yes, shipping him frees up $17.5 in cap space now and the money left next year was not going to happen. So, if you know you are not going to get a deal done to extend, then trade him rather than having him walk for nothing like we did with Carr.

There has to be a market for him now. Too bad the Chefs are in our division because they would likely give up the most for him right now. But short of them giving us multiple 1st rounders and more, I would not be happy with him being sent there. I can't imagine we would even consider that as an option. But even so, there are a ton of teams that could use his services and would be motivated to go get him now.

No worries. OTC says they have $2.77 mill in cap space and, if I read it correctly an $81 mil deficit for 2025.

Again, no team has been more aggressive at restructuring and kicking cap consequences down the road than New Orleans. They've been doing it for... decades?

They can find another $11 mil for this year if they really want to.

The cap is overrated.

Good grief. This current discussion on this thread exposes Raider fans PTSD.

The game with the Browns had all the ear marks of the start of a typical Raider slide to irrelevance. The team showed fight and managed to win the game, which I believe reflects AP. Color me encouraged. I think AP will keep this team competitive. That is all I ask, at this point.

Competitive, how? Do you see a path to 9-8? Sneaking into the playoffs? Getting hot and making a deep run? Shaking up the world?

They won the fricken game. When did that not become the goal? Geez, some of you are unreal.

LOL yes, they did. That was Sunday. I have moved on as I hope the team has.

I planted my flag that this team needs to sell out for a franchise QB a long time ago. I will continue to be that guy until they do.

I don't care if they do it by being objectively terrible for a year or aggressively trading up to go get a guy.

That's my stance.

I planted my flag that this team needs to sell out for a franchise QB a long time ago. I will continue to be that guy until they do.
Way to go out on a limb. There are about 28 or so other teams seeking the same thing.

Just win baby
I think Chaka’s point is that there’s difference between saying/hoping/searching for a franchisecQB, and aggressively moving up in the draft to grab one and plant a flag. If they bust, so be it. But freakin do it already.

I am thrilled with Brock Bowers, he's the first #1 pick the Raiders have nailed since Kolton Miller. He's the reason they are even considering dishing Davante. Maybe this portends them going all in for a QB in 2025. I hope so.

But this is year two post Carr and so far there does not appear to be a plan in place for replacing him. Hoping Michael Penix falls to 13 is not a plan.

Take a look at the QB rooms around the league, how many of them would you immediately swap for the Raiders room? 28 teams? I think you should check your math.

Just Win Baby has been a prayer for the last 20 years not a motto.

Thanks, that's pretty much it. But, it doesn't even have to be a high draft pick to make me believe they are actually making plans. I would have been happy if they went after Justin Fields this offseason or Baker Mayfield last offseason. I really don't like Aaron Rodgers but I acknowledge that, even diminished as he is, he's a hell of a better than what the Raiders have put on the field the last two years. I also would have been happy if they kept Carr.

Those guys probably would have flopped in Silver and Black but at least there would have been some hope for the position.

I put my money where my mouth is a couple weeks back and I would be very happy to buy and ship you all six packs of beer from San Diego. I hope they somehow pull off a miracle and make that deep, and expensive to me, playoff run.

But I am still going to be objective about this team and it starts in the QB room where, IMO they threw in the towel the minute they named Minshew the starter.

  1. Brock Bowers, TE (Round 1, Pick 13) - Obviously knock it out of the park pick.
  2. Jackson Powers-Johnson, C (Round 2, Pick 44)- Held back by an early concussion but clearly worth a 2nd.
  3. Delmar Glaze, OT (Round 3, Pick 77)- Pushed Munford for RT and has taken over since early in 3rd game at RT with Munford hurt.
  4. Decamerion Richardson, CB (Round 4, Pick 112)- Has not been on the field but seemed to show promise in camp/pre-season
  5. Tommy Eichenberg, LB (Round 5, Pick 148)- Stuck behind Spillane but seems to be a future legit starter
  6. Dylan Laube, RB (Round 6, Pick 208)- No offensive snaps yet but seemed to show potential in camp/pre-season, hard to break through on active roster (but maybe they should make White inactive and give some of his snaps to Laube?)
  7. Trey Taylor, DB (Round 7, Pick 223)- IR, didn't hear much about him in camp/pre-season
  8. MJ Devonshire, CB (Round 7, Pick 229)- PS player
I have to say.... it is SUPER early and you need a few years to really tell how a draft class does but Telesco's first draft looks to be a very good one. 2 starters both have the look to be pro bowl type players, 1 almost starter now starter due to injury, 3 guys that look like they can be future contributors and 2 7th rounders that are still attached to the team.

A Jets deal.... could easily include Reddick. I mean, not a loss to the Jets and the Raiders would have the cap room to get a deal done with him. A 2nd and Reddick? I think I would be happy with that. What do you guys think?

You did not read my post clearly. I said there are 28 teams seeking a franchise QB, and not what you suggested.

I have never seen so much whining on this thread after a win. 😂

Random thoughts, in no particular order

- I'm not sure I want Haasan to be a Raider. Why bring on a player who is willing to put himself above the team in the way he's doing to the Jets? I get it's a position of need with the injuries at the position.
- Has it been confirmed/proven that it was really AP who liked the social media post and not a doctored image, or fake account? I don't get why AP would do that, if not by accident.
- If the social media like did happen, is that really enough for Adams to force the trade? I'd like to know more about how or why Adams got to the point of wanting to no longer be a Raider.
- Not knowing the full story, I'm sure the constant rumor mill and having to consistently answer the media's questions pushed Adams into wanting to leave. May not be the main reason, but I think it's been a contributing factor.
- I find it interesting how some players get different media treatment. Adams is getting the preferred media treatment. Other players, in other situations, would be called out for quitting on a team or forcing a trade, or not handling his position internally. Adams got on the Kay Adams show because he wanted to be there and control a narrative.

Also curious about this. Media treating it like it's factual and his real account. If that is indeed true, it's a really bad look for AP - very unprofessional, and would be the second time in two weeks he's shown to be a loose cannon. This is not the way to 'keep it real.'

Oh, and I'm growing increasingly curious if Mayer is involved in the 'business decisions'... or really dealing with personal issues. If it is personal issues, I hope it's not serious for him or his family.

Most likely at this point, all of this stuff is related. The part that's most disturbing is Maxx's absence. His lack of visibility right now is increasingly becoming more concerning to me. If AP loses Maxx, this season and AP are both over.

I haven't seen anyone confirm it for sure or deny it for sure. I have heard some throw out it as a mistake but if so, wouldn't AP come out and say "Yea, oppps, didn't meant to like that." to both Tae and the public?

I am a huge AP fan but I don't like that if he really did it.

AP in his media day

"my job is to protect Maxx from Maxx" which again, to me, feeds in to having Maxx stay home.
Basically would not talk about specifics with Tae. Asked if they talk he said something like they talk all the time, pressed on recent conversations he said he would keep that between him and Tae.
On Mayer, said still taking care of personal thing.... asked when he will come back.... "whenever he is done with his personal thing"

Those were the three point of interest to me

I watched his presser this morning. He was asked directly about it and refused to comment. Told me all I needed to know. :(

Must have been before I got on... but yea, if it was not him or an accident, I don't see why he wouldn't comment on it. Seems to be a confirmation. Not the worst thing a coach could do but I don't see an upside on doing that.

I think this points to some interpersonal conflict with him and Tae. Tae doesn't take his stuff public but when you watched the WR documentary, you can see that he wouldn't be shy from expressing himself to the team. He was frustrated with Jimmy "Noodle Arm" G (understandably) to the point he basically disrespected him to his face.

Also, it has been all but confirmed that Tae has been seeking a new deal for a while. This could be also discontent on this not coming together. I understand it.... you come to a team to play with your QB you want, they ship him off, then you want to get paid like one of the top 3 WR's and they balk at it and then you aren't having the success you want to have on a team. Yea, I can see why that could bubble up into something that is a thing.

I don't know, regardless if he did it on purpose, by accident, or it was fabricated. Any angle he takes now is gas on the fire.
"It was me" ... media runs with it and burns his career down around him
"It was an accident" ... media runs with it being a fake answer to deal with an action with intention
"it wasn't me" ... media runs with it as AP trying to lie.

The real only approach is the one he is taking in not discussing it.

I hope there is nothing to Crosby not being there, but if the guy is inactive what harm would come to him being on the sideline? Seems like there is something more here, but I hope I'm wrong.

Again, I would reconsider your math. More than four teams have franchise QBs and a lot more than four teams have a prospect franchise QB on their roster. I apologize if you thought I meant a guaranteed 10+ year franchise starting QB.

If you're happy with the state of the franchise, more power to you. I'm not, not in the least and it is on them to change my mind. It is not my responsibility to show my belly and beg for them to accept my unwavering adulation when they have been terrible for 20 years. They have my loyalty, which is a lot, if they want more they can earn it.

The only teams that dont have a current or long-term franchise QB in place are:
Raiders
Panthers (after seemingly abandoning the Bryce Young plan)
Giants (have to be in the market again next year, right?)

On the Maybe Looking Again Very Soon list:
Browns
Titans
Steelers?
Jets (Rodgers clock ticking)

Miami is in a tough spot but was set before the latest Tua injury.

I only see the Raiders, Panthers, Giants, and perhaps Browns and Titans in an equally horrible place in terms of their QB situation.
Bottom 5 sounds about right for our Raiders of the past 20 years.

yea..i left that rather vague. over under 6 wins?

It's a fun time to be a Raiders fan, ain't it?

Please correct me on the timeline of this sorry saga if I've got anything wrong (note: I'll use "Pierce" and "idiot" interchangeably):
Raiders suck in loss to Panthers.
Pierce drops "business decision" comment.
Adams comes up with "hamstring injury" and is "week to week." Out vs. Browns
Raiders beat Browns.
Idiot likes Sports Illustrated Instagram post intimating Adams has played his last down for Raiders.
Adams requests trade.
Pierce goes full Belichick on question about liking SI IG post in today's press conference.

I wished if the LV and national press had the balls to press him further. He got one question on the Instagram thing, gave a "I'm just focused on Denver" answer and that was it. He said he and Adams talk "often." He got only two questions about that. If this was New York or any other major market he would have been hammered mercilessly as he so rightly deserved.

Anywho...
I questioned Pierce's in-game decisions a few weeks ago. Now I'm questioning everything else about his ability to be a head coach. I'll just add to the people who have already been on record saying what kind of numbskull would be on social media liking a post like this? He had to know (I would think even he's not THAT stupid) what the fallout would be. Or maybe that was the plan and Pierce is really just a mad genius? Personally, I think he's in way over his head.

Anyway, I hope they take their time with the trade. Let Adams sit and "heal" until they get an offer that suits them although I think Pierce liking the IG post and Adams formally requesting a trade decreases their leverage. He's not without culpability in this thing. He should have been willing to take one for the team and get his fanny off the sidelines for a series or two in a preseason game or two...just like every other player on the team. Tremendous test for Telesco coming up.

One last thing on Pierce: I actually enjoyed his "I'm focused on Denver" answer. I'm sure he thought ahead of time about how he was going to answer the IG question. He came in prepared, said what he wanted and nothing more, dared the media to follow up and nobody did. Too much of the time he speaks off the cuff without thinking and too many times it bites him in the ***. Maybe he learned something.

I will buy you some beers if the opposite happens
You'll buy me beef if they don't make the playoffs? IN!!!
yea..i left that rather vague. over under 6 wins?
Hell, they've already won two. Let's make it 7 and I'll take the under, 7 is a push.

For a six pack?

FTR I think 7-10 to 9-8 is the likeliest range of possibilities. Minshew is a stop gap at best but he can win seven of seventeen games. Every win more than that makes me reconsider my apathy, bordering on disdain, for this coaching staff.

We could even meet….I'm in south OC
IDK... what's it like in the real world nowadays?

;)
I visited my niece last weekend at SDSU. She’s a freshman. It’s just over an hour from my house
Brother, we live maybe 30 minutes, 40 tops from each other. I'm just trying to think about which is the best sports bar/brewery in Oceanside, San Onofre (Carlsbad) etc to meet at and collect my winnings.

I planted my flag that this team needs to sell out for a franchise QB a long time ago. I will continue to be that guy until they do.
Way to go out on a limb. There are about 28 or so other teams seeking the same thing.

Just win

You did not read my post clearly. I said there are 28 teams seeking a franchise QB, and not what you suggested.

I have never seen so much whining on this thread after a win. 😂

Since I obviously wasn’t clear, the number 28 was thrown out flippantly to illustrate that a majority of teams are seeking a franchise QB. And any Raider fan that expected anything less than what they now have just hasn’t been paying attention.

At this point I am happy with the team not being the laughingstock of the league.

2-2 smells a lot better than 1-3.
