Indefinite Tampa Bay Bucs thread: Somehow not on the list of teams to never have won a Super Bowl (3 Viewers)

I'd rather the Bucs pass on QB this year I think. Between McCown and Glennon, I'd rather roll with that for a year. They're reworking the O Line, but need someone to throw the ball to. Additionally, I think if they can grab a stud defender in round 1, they should do it. Recent trends have shown that defense still wins championships. Keep stockpiling on D. WRs to a certain extent are a dime a dozen and short of being Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson, they aren't game-changing enough.

Build a dominant D and then add a WR like Keyshawn via trade/free agency when they're close.

That being said, they definitely need a warm body or two at WR.

D, WR I would be happy with in rounds 1, 2.

Trade back from pick 7 and still get Evans? Not a chance. He's going top 10 no matter what. There are some GM's that have him rated ahead of Watkins, and I think the Bucs have him rated that way as well. Though I think you would be wasting a good 2nd round pick on Benjamin.

He just needs to work on route running and focus on catching easy passes. All of his problems can be fixed with coaching. Despite being 23 he isn't that polished, but he has the ability to dominate and take over games. He will be a TD machine. 10 TDs year 1 easy.

Easy passes aren't easy anymore in the NFL. You don't see many guys with his lack of focus suddenly find it in the league.

I'm a super major Noles homer. Probably love them more than the Bucs. I don't want Benjamin and he sure isn't close to Evans.

Duke was no slouch last year. Perennial 2-10 type team getting it done and going to a Bowl game, wouldn't knock Evans much because of Duke.

Gruden/Allen were horrible drafters. I don't know off the top of my head, but I bet there are a lot of teams with only a handful of players left from 2009-2010.

The 2011 draft class hasn't had much impact yet, but I'm hoping Lovie and company can get the best out of Clayborn and Bowers. The 2012 draft class has been fantastic for just LaVonte, but Martin looked great in his rookie season and Barron could come around. It's too soon to judge 2013, but Banks looked good and Glennon was the best rookie QB in a weak QB class.

Banks had a nice second half last year as well. They are both long-term starters.

I do wonder how much Schiano influenced the drafting these past two years. Dom's history before Schiano got hired is horrid. Maybe Schiano should be a front office guy somewhere.

I've got Watkins and then close by is Evans. And I'm higher than most on Cooks (mid first). Next rung down but still in the first round is Beckham (late first).

I don't care about their highlights, I care about who the consistent, better receiver is. And that's not even close.

And can't talk about the great catches KB makes while forgetting all the easy ones he drops and all the dumb plays he makes. The Bucs are trying to win games, not make sportscenter top-10.

I want Sammy Watkins, but that isn't happening. After that I prefer to trade down if the opportunity presents itself.

I wouldn't be mad if we drafted a QB, but I'd like to see us fill another hole. I prefer Borles or Carr.

I would love Greg Robinson or Jake Matthews, but that's not looking very likely after the Collins signing.

As bad as we were on offense I wouldn't put it past Lovie to draft a defensive player. Dee Ford, Aaron Donald, and Mosley are all guys I could see us targeting.

Strong safety Major Wright has officially been reunited with his former head coach, Lovie Smith.

The Buccaneers on Monday announced that Wright, who's spent his entire four-year career with the Bears, had signed a one-year contract with Tampa Bay. The team also announced that it had inked receiver Lavelle Hawkins to a contract as well.

In the past two years, Wright -- the No. 157 free agent on the CBSSports.com list -- has started all 31 games he played for Chicago, but Pro Football Focus' metrics show he wasn't so impressive. PFF ranks him dead last among all 86 safeties that were measured in 2013.

After the Buccaneers traded wide receiver Mike Williams last week, reports indicated that they would be signing Lavelle Hawkins to fill his spot on the depth chart.

The Buccaneers confirmed those reports on Monday with the announcement that Hawkins has signed with the team. It is a one-year deal.

All drafts are important, but this one reeks of being the utmost. The new regime has to land impact starters with all three of their first picks. I'm excited to see Licht's highly regarded player evaluation in action.

I think Watkins is a better fit for TB, but an extra 3rd pick probably wouldn't be enough to get him. I would stay put. With deep WRs class, the team have the option to draft a really good WR at 2nd or 3rd round.

That's fine. I just think Watkins fits your need much better than Evans will. I don't buy the "twin towers" talk of pairing Evans with VJax. Sounds good on paper, but a bit redundant and Watkins can do so many things so well, with a much deeper developed route tree. I'm not trying to talk you into giving up your third, but the dropoff to Evans for the style of offense that Lovie likes to run is obvious. Any way you can get your hands on Sammy Watkins is a winning draft, imo.

3rd round pick sounds like a lot, I know. But it's fair compensation for a 2 slot move into the top 5. And I can't stress enough that Watkins is a much better system fit for the Bucs offense than Evans. On paper, they don't look far apart, but in Lovies offense, it's huge.

I wonder what type of WR is ideal for the current regime? People have said Lovie likes big WRs, referencing Marshall & Jeffery. However, with them looking at Emanuel Sanders & signing in Louis Murphy it proves there is room for a speedster. I don't think Louis Murphy is a long term answer, so they may still be looking for a burner.

Demps was mentioned as being able to line up at WR, but I don't think we can count on him for anything until he proves otherwise.

If Lovie isnt into Glennon, equal to the talent in this draft IMO, he isnt going to want any of these qbs. So QB is off the board for the first pick. End of story.

WR is the biggest option with Ebron or Mack if they are there.
