Why not? There's never been a situation like this as far as I know. If I was investing millions, the #1 overall, and the future of my franchise in this kid I'd ask if he was willing to take one.I am pretty sure you cannot hook a player up to a polygraph. Lol
Are draft prospects members of the CBA?I would be willing to be it's in the cba. The union isn't going to allow their members to be treated like criminals. Come on, that's a little much.
I doubt a team would even if they were allowed (which I also doubt) but I don't think the CBA has any bearing on the incoming rookie class until they are actually drafted.I would be willing to be it's in the cba. The union isn't going to allow their members to be treated like criminals. Come on, that's a little much.
No, no the CBA (collective bargaining agreement) applies to the owners and the NFLPA. The rookies aren't members of the NFLPA until they are drafted and sign their contract. Are draft prospects members of the CBA?I would be willing to be it's in the cba. Pretty sure he could voluntarily take a poly. But for the Bucs to ask just seems like it could result in bad PR.Grahamburn said:Why not? There's never been a situation like this as far as I know. Why? It's probably obvious, I'm just missing something. That has to mean Jameis, right?
His offense is based on timing routes and drop back passing. Why? It's probably obvious, I'm just missing something. That has to mean Jameis, right?
I guess so? Maybe that's my point, but it's kind of a cop out to just say "we don't know, so let's not draft him." There seem to be a lot of people just shrugging off that Winston has been accused of rape. It's kind of a big deal.Any GM thinking about asking a player to take a polygraph-shouldn't draft the player.
Fair enough. Good point.Trust-hooking someone up to a polygraph in this situation is saying "we don't trust you".
You do not go into business with that person-doesn't matter what the truth is.
No team is going to do this.
Especially when it didn't just end when Winston wasn't charged - she's now suing the school for a violation of her civil rights.I guess so? The woman, who remains anonymous in the suit, reported being sexually assaulted in December 2012, by an unknown assailant. She then allegedly recognised Winston as her attacker when they shared a class on “race and ethnicity” at the beginning of the spring semester.
In the complaint, the plaintiff describes listening for his name during roll-call, after which she promptly provided it to Tallahassee police. She says she did not know he was FSU’s premier football recruit at the time.
“This deliberate concealment of student-on-student sexual harassment to protect the football program deprived plaintiff of her rights under Title IX and caused substantial damages,” the complaint continues.
A second woman came forward with similar allegations in October 2013, according to the complaint, but still no disciplinary proceedings against Winston took place. The complaint states that the incident was “never reported” to FSU’s Title IX coordinator by either the school’s police or the athletics department, despite both being made aware of the incident.
Sounds good to me.@ScottSBucs: The Buccaneers' new Offensive Coordinator is Dirk Koetter. The team and Koetter agreed to terms Thursday.
I just can't stop picturing Jameis hooked up to a polygraph, sweating, while Lovie stands in a dark room under a lamp asking him questions.![]()

Your Correct it's not close. Winston couldn't hold Mairota's Jock and just got DESTROYED by him.Tanner9919 said:this elevates Evans to the next level - see Julio Jones..it's going to be great to watch Jackson and Evans play the Julio/Roddy White roles!
Winston is the better QB than Mariota, and it's not even close..
I know Koetter worked well with MJD, but the Falcons had no running game while he was there..it'll be interesting to see what it all means to the TB RB's..
To join the FBI you need to pass a polygraph. A polygraph isn't admissible in a court of law so there isn't any criminal liability tied to it.Capella said:I would be willing to be it's in the cba. Evens is good but Julios numbers are due to him being a beast not that scrub. Tampa will have a top 5 pick next year if Jamis is their choice.

There is another...IMO the Bucs have no choice but to take Mariota unless they are absolutely sure he's a bust. If they take Winston with all of his red flags and he's a bust then they will be the laughingstock of the league. No GM is going to take that chance.
The poly itself isn't but the surrounding interview is.To join the FBI you need to pass a polygraph. You most definitely would not, unless you are bat#### insane.if I didn't do a crime I'm accused of, I probably take a poly voluntarily. To join the FBI you need to pass a polygraph. Unless they trade for an NFL caliber QB (unlikely) I don't see that as an option. There is another...IMO the Bucs have no choice but to take Mariota unless they are absolutely sure he's a bust. you could just not draft a qb.
A lot will change b/t now and the draft but i don't agree that the Bucs will rule out Winston b/c of his red flags.IMO the Bucs have no choice but to take Mariota unless they are absolutely sure he's a bust. What questions would you ask him?If I'm the Bucs I ask Jameis to take a polygraph. If he accepts and passes with flying colors he's the guy. If he declines or fails the decision is simple.
I've never administered one, but I believe you start with simple yes or no questions to calibrate the machine. Then I'd ask him:What questions would you ask him?If I'm the Bucs I ask Jameis to take a polygraph. If he accepts and passes with flying colors he's the guy. I don't want to get into a big polygraph discussion, but:Maybe I am slightly insane but I've been around the business long enough to make an informed decision. You most definitely would not, unless you are bat#### insane.if I didn't do a crime I'm accused of, I probably take a poly voluntarily. To join the FBI you need to pass a polygraph. So a 1/6 chance that even under a properly administered polygraph it will return a false-positive."False positives" in which test-takers fail a polygraph even though they are telling the truth are common, and Attorney General John Ashcroft, while endorsing the new FBI security measure, has estimated that the tests are about 85 percent accurate.
