Feel free to post your questions here. Selected questions will be chosen as David Dodds and Joe Bryant field questions for 90 minutes on anything on your mind.

Something Ive always wondered and never had answered to my satisfaction, and has my curiousity piqued, as it totally conflicts with the way I do projections:

Why do you not project a # of Games played in your projections? The numbers you provide often take into account the player not playing in one or more games, but we are not provided with how many games your projection is for.

An example:

In the Atlanta Team projections, Michael Vick is projected to throw for 2360/6.2/15 and run for 670/6.7/6. However, Matt Schaub is projected to throw for 488/6.5/2 and run for 5/20/4.0. Obviously Vick will miss time by this projection. But how many? Is Schaub being projected to mop up 4 games? To start 2 games? To start 1 and mop up 1?

Knowing how many games you expect Vick to put up his 270.0 FP in makes a world of difference in what type of value you project him to be.

270 points in 13 games would be fantastic, while over 16 games it would be much less impressive.

Just curious to know this, as I feel your projections might be more valuable to those making real use of them with a better gauge of how you expect each player to really perform.

Several of my local leagues go very heavy RB in the first three rounds. It seems to be that this season there are potentially several quality RBs that offer higher value that may be available in later rounds than in the past few years. Fred Taylor, Ahman Green, Deshaun Foster, Thomas Jones, etc... Do you agree and does this provide an opportunity to stray some from the stud running back theory this year?

Do you think that some of these guys will solidify their starting position and decrease value as the summer unfolds?

This is more of a comment AND question.

With many fantasy leagues trying to evolve to scoring equilibration, and seeming that the major move to that step is going to a 2 QB league.....

What pros and cons do you see with a 2 QB league?

Does FBG have any plans to release an indepth article on this league format?

I hope this doesn't come out wrong (it is not meant as a bust on Joe)

How does Joe feel about the content of the site and the changes in VBD as he originally put it? He writes the couch potato monday morning QB thing, but what are his thoughts about VBD and how it has changed since he first published his work on value based drafting. Is Joe in any FF leagues anymore? All the stuff that has come after the basics of VBD have been created by others. Has Joe followed those changes or is he still a "simple VBD guy" at heart?

Since we can ask anything....Since you've won your WSOP seat you stated you were going to play tourneys in favor or ring games. How has that been going and do you feel your tourney game is at a level where your going to be ready to make a solid showing at the WSOP this year?

I want to know your theory regarding projections and injuries.

1. Do you project or factor injuries into your projections and if so how do you accomplish that?

2. If above is affirmative, what factors, if any, will cause you to change a projection upward? For example, if you make adjustments for Palmer thinking he won't return until week 6 and learn that he's more likely to be back sooner, what adjustments do you make?

3. Do you belive you can forcast injuries? If so please explain your approach on this.

In an unrelated matter, is there any thoughts on providing an interactive tool such as VBD that runs live from the site and that can accomodate realtime updates while drafting? IOW-I log on to the site and load up my VBD and begin my draft. You guys get a breaking story that's verified that so and so player is out for the season. The VBD gets an update accordingly.

Thank you!

Any strategies on redrafts combining IDP? I tend to dabble when there are large drops in D quality around rounds 8-12, but would appreciate any history on success (I have been successful grabbing 3 RBs first 4 rounds.

I've been curious about something for awhile, and it's not really about fantasy football per se.

Owning a business where one owner is in CA and the other is in TN, with staff members scattered across the country in different time zones, has to present challenges a local business doesn't face.

I'd like you to talk about the physical separation aspect a little bit. In what kinds of situations has this been especially troublesome? How have communications evolved over time? What percentage of time do you spend communicating in various ways (e-mail or instant messenger, phone, face-to-face, live chat, etc.) with each other and with staff? And, anything else you want to add that would be interesting concerning this unusual business arrangement.

Thanks.

Joe and Dave, I am wild about this site and the way you run it. Kudos.

Now to my question.

Is there ever going to be a subscriber section on the boards? I have heard both sides and you may have voiced you opinion, but I missed it.

Second, is there any consideration being given to those of us who have been with you guys for years and keep coming back. I have been with you guys since 03 and have signed up for another three years via your three year offer. I do this because I know and respect you guys and the whole staff.

What I'm talking about is something of a bonus for those of us who have been loyal low these many years. TIA

Hopefully, the boards will remain the great FREE resource that they are today!

How much attention do you pay to your competition (if any) each year?

If so, how much?

What do you look for?

You guys are very much in the public eye and so when you write your how to draft articles/discussions you say the right thing and use your VBD or cheatsheet(Joe) in an almost formulaic way. In reality, what do you do differently?

I don't get to see the Fanex drafts, naturally, with you in em anymore. Like to jump up and take a slew of RBs before they're "gone", like to take two WRs early?, back to back TEs....can you give some examples of when you completely went with your gut regardless of VBD/DD something out of the ordinary. How'd it work out and why'd you do it?

What's your fave semi-different type league format? regular starting lineup but with a FB? IDP? starting unit by offensive sets? complete team including punters? team QBs not individuals?

I'd guess you've reached your expectations or beyond them even with what your site has achieved. What are some easily attainable upcoming goals you have and what are some lofty daydream type ones? No matter how goofy, even if Joe wants a FBG TV station to compete with NFL Network...anything, just curious

what do you think of NFLEurope? Does the NFL use it properly as a minor league? think the NFL will ever truly be a worldwide game with say the NY Giants playing the English Bulldogs? Or just a game here and there in mexico city and such?

have any plans for college football coverage at FBGs?

Have you ever thought-If SportingNews (or some company with $)offers us X amount of dollars we could be bought?

If someone wants to join your staff, what do they need to do aside from washing your car and mowing the lawn?

How many staff members used to frequent the RSFF NG and how has that experience been involved(if at all) into this board and it's policies?

Any plans to open a poker site+play off all the interest here?

holler if ya want more Qs

1. What other ways are you guys looking to monetize the business in the future? There's the site subscription, the magazine, clothing and an expanding line of goodies, and advertising partnerships with links to their sites and/or product lines. Did I leave out anything that the average FBG member is unaware of? Anything else on the horizon as part of a way to continue to diversify and expand FBG business revenue? The community seems to be growing at a nice clip and there appears to be a high retention rate of active posters who spend multiple hours per day here. It seems like there should be some other opportunities.

2. This will be my fourth year in the WCOFF. Two years ago I got the opportunity to stop by your table and both Joe and David were there meeting and greeting. Last year, Rudnicki, Shick, Clayton and a few others were there but neither Joe nor David were. Will either of you be there this year and do you feel that it's important for at least one of you to physically be there as part of your FBG presence in front of more than 1,100 rabid FF fans? I, for one, would like to meet up with you guys again in Vegas for opening weekend.

Along these same lines,I'd like to know if ADP info can be expanded to include IDP. Or add an IDPs ADP to the IDP rankings? Thanks.

Fantasy pointwise and talent wise - who would you keep out of this bunch of linebackers. 16 team dynasty start 3. Most have great upside potential and would hate to cut someone that could be a potential breakout. Who would you keep and why? Not a real sophisticated question but important to me. Thank you for considering it.

Gilbert Gardner - Colts LB - still think if he can stay healthy - but will he get a starting position other than SLB?

Nick Greisen - JAX LB - intriguing player that plays harder than his talent - overacheiver?

Monty Beisel - NE LB - might have a future - does he have the talent

Chaun Thompson - CLE LB - with DQJax there?

Alfred Fincher - NO LB - glut of players to compete with

Brandon Moore - SF LB - sounds like backup material - but will he ever start?

Dashon Polk - TEX LB - sounds like backup player only

My Keepers as I see them are Odell Thurman, Ernie Sims, Chad Greenway, Danny Clark (probably this season only), Bradie James, Teddy Lehman (if I could get some value would consider trading this guy) and on my taxi squad Barrett Ruud & Omar Gaither

On a 40 man active roster with contracts and 10 man taxi squad for rookies and 1 year NFL players - I obviously have way too many linebackers. Gardner still intrigues me and I'm not sure I want to cut him yet. Just wondering about your expert opinion.

Scoring is somewhat agressive. 2 pts tackle, 1 pt assist, 2 pts sack, 1 pt .05 sack, 1 pt PD, 2 pts FF, 3 pts FR, 3 pts interception and all touchdowns are 6. So linebackers - much like running backs are Gold in this league and owners treat them as such. Nobody trades away their studs. I've tried. I am also trying to make a run at it this year so, I am not in a rebuilding mode at all. But I also want to hang on to some prospects for the future.

Thanks again!

Like I said I appreciate your considering my question. It might be a litle too pedestrian for you and I would understand your not wanting to take the time.

I'd like to know if there are any plans to increase the dynasty content? How about a Dynasty-only Forum?

Seems like alot of needless head-butting and arguing over different fantasy philosophies that could be avoided by clarifying which format you play...

Do you and Joe feel that fantasy football over the past few years has been a driving force behind the rise of the NFL as being the '800 pound gorilla' of the American sports world? (The NFL draft now has more viewers than the World Series I think.)

How much money per year does it cost to run these messageboards, including overhead(mods etc.)

Why doesn't FBG compare their previous rankings to the end of year actual rankings? We all know that no one hit Gado or Deuce.

(1) For the past several years there have been numerous complaints about in-season weekly content being provided later than originally promised. This seemed to improve somewhat last year but it was still an issue. Given that you set the deadlines yourself, why do you feel this has continued to be a problem? Given your logistical situation some issues are probably inevitable, but I would think at this point you would have enough experience to develop a fairly solid understanding of the contingency and lead time required for various material and could either adjust your internal deadlines and schedules, or move back your planned publication date to accommodate. What plans and improvements are you making to improve your ability to meet your own weekly publication schedule?

(2) Two years ago, when someone from another site (I think it was Bob Henry) joined the staff, you provided two sets of weekly projections. Last year you went back to a single set provided by David. What was the reason for this: simply lack of time/resources to produce a second set, concerns about quality, do you feel the need to provide a "single voice", or some other reason?

At least in preseason, you include rankings from a slew of staff members, and many of those rankings are based on detailed projections that none of us ever get to see. Do you have any plans to include alternate sets of detailed projections in either the preseason or mid-season? I felt having multiple sets of projections was very valuable in analyzing because it forced me to try to understand why the differerences might exist and question both sets of rankings. Will we see multiple projections again at some point in the future?

(3) Do you feel the overall quality or nature of FF discussion in the Shark Pool has changed over the last several years? If so, in what way, and what do you think has caused it? Are there things you think the FBG staff can do/plan to do to improve the quality of discussion?

What hardcore and in-depth articles does FBG have planned for the near future?

I am talking about articles for the seasoned FFer.

In what direction to see the evolution of fantasy football moving? Continue to grow? Has it reached it's peak?

Can you talk about how the internet has changed the learning curves for newbies and how the seasoned FFers can overcome it?

What kind of issues most impact our beloved hobby and do you see any of those becoming major obstacles for running this site?

My concern is over a couple of players in new cities.

Edge in Arizona: Do you think this line is going to be productive enough for him to be a top 3 to 5 RB?

T.O. in Dallas: He always plays nice at the start, so should we expect 1st year Philly numbers from him?

Any thoughts of running your own FFL Management site and cashing in on the ever-growing popularity of the hobby? Yahoo and CBSsportsline suxors, so you could certainly eat into their market share. 10,000 members here paying $50-$100 per year would be quite the cash cow. Combining the boards, with the content, and a league management system would be a nice little one stop shop.

What types of strategy articles are you planning for the Draft Dominator, Projections Dominator, Lineup Dominator, etc? I think these are fantastic tools and want to learn more in depth ways of using them to my advantage, as I'm sure other out there are as well.

This is the big question I ask every year but we never see the analysis. Would be great!

I've always wondered how FBG started. Dodds is from Cali, Joe is from the state of rednecks, i mean TN. Just wonder how FBG was formed...

Please discuss your opinion on the Green Bay Packers RB situation for 2006. Who do you think will start? Who do you see as ending the year as the most valuable RB on the Packers and breakdown your projections for Green, Gado & Davenport and also your "Gut" feeling on the situation with a heavy emphasis on A. Greens health situation. Thanks.

a FBG hits the lotto and decides to buy the board...(ballpark) what's it going to set him back?

Some of us have been around since the Cheatsheets.net days...long before 03. Just pointing that out...not busting chops, just pointing that out. 1999 I believe was my first year on the site. Ah yes...the free years! No question. Just thanks for doing what you do!

When will you ever accept orders by phone? :P

Its that time of year, let's get it started!

Great job on the site guys ...

Quick question about projections, especially in-season:

Like many here I'm a WCOFFer who loves to look at weekly projections BUT would also like the ability to fill out my scoring system and see projected weekly points in MY league scoring system not just in the standard FBG's format.

Any thoughts about allowing a cutomizable scoring template which would let anyone see the projected stats with points projecting using a custom scoring system?

That previous post brings this question:

Any plans on adding PPR as a standard scoring to the rankings?

When Cheeetsheets.net and Footballguys.com were getting started, I recall it being a collection of established fantasy info providers who had their own sites consolidating into one location so you could get a consensus of "expert" opinions in one place. Many of those original contributors seem to have gone away. While there have been a few acquisitions along the way bringing in some new blood, most of the new staff members have come from the message boards. I think over half of the folks contributing to your overall rankings are now former message board contributors.

At some point did you feel the need to change your approach to what the site would be, or was it always part of the plan to draw replacement staff members from the message board contributors who had demonstrated ability, but had little or no established presence outside of FBGs?

Here is one good one that I hope gets chosen.

Do you have any plans for starting up your own leagues and using your subscribers and or message board members to fill them? Talking both small fee trophy and higher stakes leagues. I often wondered why this has not been done here because of the natural lists of willing participants at your disposal. Even a pyramid style league system just using this message board would take off big. I realize we are doing some of these things on our own but it would be much better if FBG got more involved and sponsored/hosted leagues. This would go over really big around here so much so that I often wonder why its not being done? Surely you would have enough interest to deal with the NFLPA and any of these new problems in this area arising from them etc. I would love to hear you guys elaborate on this subject.

Donny

The High Stakes league would consist of three owners: You, Dodds & Joe.You are the only three with money.

The two of you have worked together for a while -- if you had to pick a theme song that would convey what your experience has been, what would it be? (i.e. theme song from 'Barney Miller', 'The Monkees', 'MASH', etc.). Just curious...

i know it's late but i'll throw this out and cross my fingers...

I was very intrigued by the article in last year’s FBG magazine regarding Brain Types - especially as they related to NFL qbs. Will we ever see a follow up to this article or ever get some info on the brain types of the NFL qbs not specifically listed in that article? Or info as to how the brain types relate to other positions, coaches & any trends may exist along those lines?

Who came up with the idea to rename the site "Footballguys"? I can understand wanting to change it from cheatsheets, but who gets credit for the name?
