iPad (2 Viewers)

http://clamcase.com/ipad-3-keyboard-case-black.htmlBoss just got one of these cases and it is flat out bad ###. Pricy but we run a lot of our business these days through the iPad, makes it pretty damn sweet.
If you're going to get a case that large, why not just get a laptop for less $$?
Perhaps some people want the versatility to use it as a tablet rather than a laptop all the time.SOme like have the availability of the keyboard from time to time...but then to use just the tablet part at times. It serves its functions that way for some...not sure what about that some of you don't understand when suggesting to just get a laptop.

So who is the market for the 7" exactly? Are there really people that will get a 2nd one?
I would contemplate it.I like the one my wife got (I think the kids and I use it more than she does). But I could see me enjoying the smaller form factor.Played around with my friend's google nexus and enjoyed it.

Couple that with our company is heavily into the iPad for our business apps we use. We have some proprietary stuff that our sales force uses that pretty cool. I think we have 2000+ iPads out in the field between management, sales & dispatch so it's pretty entrenched in our business.

Looking for a decent, inexpensive ($50) speaker for my ipad 2. I have been getting audio books and the volume isn't quite loud enough. Any recommendations? Thanks.
I have an Altec Lansing iM227 and cannot recommend this speaker highly enough.Great sound. Ultra portable. Good battery life.
Thank you. Would I need to buy a special cord or is it wireless? I know nothing about these things.

I just bought one of these Creative D100 speakers from Amazon a couple weeks ago. The price was ~$60. Nice sound. It has Bluetooth and a Mp3 connection. Battery and AC.
We needed it for our minivan. It was my simple solution to my inability to get music from anything to my stereo. I have several of the radio station connection things, which work fine for driving around town, but on a cross country drive it is hard to find a good station and stay there. This bugs my wife. My stereo doesn't have a mp3 input, annoying.

This one has a 9" cord that plugs into your headphone jack. I've not had any issues but that relatively short length may be a consideration for you if your needs differ.

Aside from the proprietary stuff, what other productivity/organization apps do you guys get the most use out of?

Got me, we have a suite of apps we use but its nothing I have anything to do with. I know they allow the users to do pretty much whatever they want, promote user acceptance, etc. I know the guys in the field love it.

If anyone is looking for an iPad 2 3G (Verizon) 64GB let me know. I bought it brand new and it was used very little before I found out that it doesn't have a sim card slot, which is what my MIL needed (the AT&T version has it but not Verizon.

Can someone recommend a good free texting app? I can't get cell reception in my office, and I'd like to be able to send text messages from my iPad. I'd prefer one that comes with a free phone number, but that's not essential.

I tried out an app called Text+, but the free phone number expired after a few months.

If anyone uses a stylus, I just ordered a fiber-tipped one and like it a LOT more than the rubber-tipped one I had been previously using.

I got a new Ipad for fathers day and am still figuring it out. My dumb question of the day: can I use the Ipad text messaging app using my telephone number? My phone is tied to an android account through US Cellular.

I use WhatsApp to keep in touch with friends that live in Europe. Should suit your needs

I need some new game/time waster options. I'm almost done with TowerMadness and really enjoyed that. Any recos?

Think the Mini might not be Mini enough. I tried one of the in therebetween from Samsung and preferred the 7" to carry everywhere I went.

Amazing how quick the out dated the iPad 3 also. I'm assuming the 4 was necessary this quick to get everything on the lighting adapter. They are going to kill in profits for awhile. Especially by pushing back anyone else from making the cables for awhile.

How do all you iPad 3 owners feel about the short life span of your must have device. So crippled and old now. R.I.P. Ipad 3 March 16, 2012-October 23 2012.

:goodposting: My wife still uses the 1st Gen iPad and it does everything she wants.

I have a 1st gen Amazon Fire & prefer the 7" size to my 3rd gen ipad. I hate the fire's version of android compared to ios.$329 seems a little high to me for the mini . I think I'd upgrade to the Fire HD for $199 before opting for the minithe ipad 2 at $299 is a great deal

Because whenever the NEW SHINEY comes out, all other devices cease functioning. We glued a chip-clip to our old iPad 2 and just use it as a clipboard now. The iPad 1 is doing duty as a shim to keep the patio table from wobbling. It's the price of progress.

iPad 4 is out with A6 and it Doubles the CPU and graphics performance. FaceTime is now 720p to match the iPhone 5, Lighting connecter (you can plug it any easier than the old connecter), LTE.Very Nice upgrade.

Agreed. The 7" size is the perfect carry anywhere. I went from the 7" Samsung to the Samsung 8.9". It took me one weekend to decide the 7" was the way to go.

The Nexus is rumored to drop to $99 at Googles event

iPad 2 are pawn shop buys at this point. You can get a great deal on them and they work. Just saying Apple outdated the 3 pretty quickly.

So why didn't they include these upgrades in the iPad 3?

There's no question the iPad is a sexier piece of hardware. The cost delta isn't a big deal if you're committed to the Apple ecosystem. But a sub-$300 price point would make a significant different for Xmas shoppers.

It is a nice upgrade but it doesn't "out date" the 3. I expected the new connector & not the other upgrades

Apple is going to make a GAGILLLION dollars this holiday season. Now is the time to push all in on AAPL stock and make boatloads when they announce earnings in mid-January.

So I buy my iPad2 ten months ago brand-new and we are already on the iPad4? Jeeze. Please tell me this thing has, at least, figured out how to browse more than half the web?

I disagree. When a system comes out that is twice the CPU power, twice the GPU power, and 10x wireless connection speeds then the old system is outdated. Sure you can use it or grab one at a rent-to-own if you like outdated stuff. All that extra power is why it is outdated not just because it is newer.

Not a fan of the price point... given Apple's margins they could have afforded a $299 price point. At $329, while it's only a 10% jump, I think they're going to miss out a bit here. As stated before, this is a much sexier piece of hardware than the Nexus or Fire, but the price gap is just large enough that it will be a tough sell IMO.

Bit of a misstep here.... I really think $299/$349/$399 was the play (16/32/64GB)

$209.94 for a Samsung Tab 2 7 or Fire HD vs. $348.74 for the mini iPad (After 6% sales tax)Add a std replacement warranty - $19.99 for items 100-200 vs 74.99 for items 300-400, and the costs become $229.93 vs $423.73 *gag*Apple Fanboyz can and will argue, but that is an insane difference to pay out the door ( even more considering that the Nexus 7 is rumored to be dropping to $99).Too bad, my mom was looking for a tablet and I was leaning toward recommending the iPad... Not now :(

Yeah...got a refurbed 2 for my wife a few months ago for a little more than that (though...got the wifi and 3g avaialable plus 32GB version).MacAuthority rules.Though I laugh that the kids and I use it more than she does.

That is really disappointing as to mini.

We were looking at getting a tablet device for our 8 year old for xmas and I was leaning towards the Kindle Fire HD at $199.00. I was hoping the mini would come in somewhere around that price-point. However, I won't pay that much for it.
