Is a Denver vs Seattle Super Bowl inevitable? (1 Viewer)

Denver's defense is just too poor. Teams hardly ever win a super bowl by giving up 30 points a game.

Seattle looks tough. Might not be the popular pick but I'd worry about the Packers if I was them. Don't ever count out a team with Rogers at qb. He can light up any defense and win a game on his own.

The Broncos defense has given up 30+ in only three games this year.
Houston is the only team in the last 5 weeks that they have held under 27. And now Miller is out for the year and they'll be facing better teams in the playoffs.

I think it's Indy or Denver out of the AFC. Denver only if their offense keeps rolling. A few mistakes, though, and they can fall to an opponent easily (I hate to say).

I really like Indy right now.

Seattle still doesn't have enough offense.
Wow, never knew you thought this based on your other 30 posts saying the same thing. Good to know.
I see you specialize in being a big funking dihk. :thumb up:
When did Russ become so angry and hurt? Is this about Peyton leaving Indy? It's just time to let it go...

Really, so you are telling me the Broncos are better then the the 94 49ers? How about the 07 Patriots? How about the 04 Colts? or the 98 Vikings? The answer is no.

Nobody is winning in Seattle, def not SF... The entire team turns into a pumpkin when they go to Seattle. Cam and the Panthers match up on paper decently, but they're not ready for the PNW either. Seattle looks Super Bowl bound as long as they can hold off STL today. The AFC has to be NE or DEN.

OTOH, who had Balt winning the Super Bowl this time last year

If Denver wins the Super Bowl, then "yes". I don't know anyone who would argue that that highest scoring offense in the history of the league, with a SB win, would be worse than any of those teams you just named.

It's too early for you to say "no"

Is that what your first post told you?

Green Bay is going to be interesting to watch today. They are getting back potentially the best player in the NFL and his top weapon in Cobb. That's a hell of a talent infusion. Whether they can hit the ground running is going to be the question. This offense, once it clicks with Cobb, Jordy, Lacy, Starks, and Jones is going to be unstoppable. Hopefully they can get it right today.
Too bad their defense stinks, even worse that Denver's. But unlike the Broncos, the Packers, if they make it, will likely have to do the majority of their playoff damage on the road, and that is hard to do with a defense that porous. I would never deny how great Aaron Rodgers is, but even with him and those weapons, the Packers were still ousted in the divisional round the last two years, in large part because their defense got torn to shreds by the Giants and 49ers.
all true. However that's why they play the games. I fully expect them to struggle against the NFC playoff teams, every team is going to be tough.

anyone know the historical stats on #1 seeds in each conference making it to the SB? some team is this year's Kerry Collins' Titans who went 13-3 , got the bye, and got picked off their first postseason game. Panthers, NE prime candidates for 2013. something tells me Seattle is gong to get picked off as well..

wouldnt surprise me to see Philly v. Indy SB.

writing this as McCoy scores making 10-0 Philly v Dallas.

Like twenty-three or something like that.

Seems like anyone could come out of the AFC, Bengals look particularly good right now and I think they'll crush SD next week.

Eagles seem way too inconsistent and Foles doesn't have much experience in big games in college or the pros, that's problematic. 49ers are red hot, they are easily the biggest threat to the two top seeds.

For those that place value on recent performance heading into the post season . . . results from each team's last 6 games.

Team, W-L, Point Differential, Yardage Differential, Turnover Differential

They barely handled the Panthers before they got their stuff together. If I am Seattle I definitely prefer to not see the Panther's D come to town.

pretty sure Arizona just won there.

I would love to see the Panthers lose before the NFC championship game, personally.

I have my doubts that Cam can handle the atmosphere and pressure in Seattle. He didn't do well against the Saints and that was a short drive in comparison.

Edit: Also worth noting, I'd love to beat Carolina to get to the Superbowl again.

So do I. But I have fewer doubts about CAR and SF than I do PHI, GB, or NO.

That wasn't all on Cam and NO has been practically unstoppable at home. The defense played crappy and this team isn't built to make that kind of comeback. Keep it within 10 and they got a shot. Once NO was up by 14 it was really tough sledding and their D could just tee off.

There is no doubt Seattle is a tough road game but they are beatable at home if you have the defense. I don't think we'll see the defense not show up in the playoffs.

Offense ended up scoring 20. How did the Colts do against the Rams? I can't remember.
I'm not sure. I'm still admiring what the Colts did against the Seahawks. ;)
I'm going to be very happy when the Colts get bounced and you re-focus back on the 5th grade.
That is your best response? You brought up the Colts. You tossed me a softball. Thanks for talking trash as a fan of a team who's won NOTHING EVER.

I was curious to see the history of how the championship games turned out, so here's the breakdown since the league adapted their current playoff format in 2002. The first column is the higher seed, the second column the seed of the team they faced in the title game, and the last column is the number of times that combination occurred. They have been 22 conference championships in that time span. Clearly prior outcomes have no impact on this year's future results.

One would expect a 1 vs. 2 match up would be the most likely outcome, and that has happened the most times. 13 out of 22 times the #1 seed got to host a home game to go to the SB. The flip side to that is 9 out off 22 one seeds lost their first game. 15 times the 2 seed advanced to the league championship games . . . two more times than the top seed.

3 seeds advanced that far 4 times. 4 seeds also advanced that far 4 times. 5 seeds did it 3 times. 6 seeds won their first two games 5 times.

2 times non bye week teams got to host a game to go to the SB.

Code:
1	vs.	2	81	vs.	3	31	vs.	4	01	vs.	5	21	vs.	6	02	vs.	3	02	vs.	4	22	vs.	5	12	vs.	6	43	vs.	4	13	vs.	5	03	vs.	6	04	vs.	5	04	vs.	6	15	vs.	6	0

Every year, something screwy happens, and as the Ravens showed us last year, it's getting more bizarre as time passes.
Hence: Philly over Cinci in the Super Bowl this year.

Every year since 2009, the team that faces Philadelphia in the Eagles' home opener has gone on to win the Super Bowl that season. Incredibly, the 2009 Saints, 2010 Packers, 2011 Giants and 2012 Ravens have that first game in Philadelphia in common. The 2013 Chargers beat the Eagles in their home opener Week 2, 33-30. So obviously the Chargers are representing the AFC - only question is who the NFC team will be that loses to them...

Seattle looks impressive..not trying to change the subject here, but have we just watched the end of Jimmy Graham as the one and only de facto #1 TE? judging by the blueprint laid out the last two weeks, it's plausible..

It's not as if teams didn't already know how to do this. It's just that most teams don't have the personnel to effectively do it over the course of an entire game.

still #1 TE by a wide margin.

I think he I injured still, it took Gates along time to recover from his plantar fascia, Graham had that injury and didn't miss any games.

And the seahawks call him soft, LOL

Graham has been playing with partially torn plantar fascia. If you want to, it's pretty easy to stop someone with that since most with that are on IR. It's really unbelievable that people don't know this.

Winner of the SF-Carolina game is going to give them a run because both teams have a QB that can run in ####ty conditions AND both teams have a D that can matchup vs the Seattle D. IT will come down to who doesn't make a mistake in that game. Old school football meets new football rules. Watch the hitting cause that type of penalty could cost the team the game.
