It's been a great run Peyton - now enjoy retirement.. (1 Viewer)

I have memories of Willie Mays as old and broken down and "done" at the end of his baseball career (with the Mets).

Unfortunately, I have a feeling I'll have the same sort of memory of Manning; especially if he continues.
I poseted that days ago. Right now, he's football's version of Willie Mays.

Besides needing 1 win for the all time record in that category, what else can they put him on the field for to break this season? I know there is also a completions record but he'd have to play a bunch of games to get that unless he's completing 30+ each game.

I think Peyton will come back in a few week and play well. Not 2013-well, but like he did against Green Bay three weeks ago-well. He's still going to be the smartest guy in the stadium every game. And if his ribs and feet are healthy, and can get his body into his throws, he'll be fine. I do think he retires at the end of the season.

Will there me any stat reviews? We don't need a Mr. 2999 on our hands here in a few years.

What does OSweiller do for fantasy purposes? IMO probably helps DT and hurts Sanders. Sanders is a great timing guy with Peyton, while DT is a more prototypical legit #1 WR who can figth for the crappy balls Brock is sure to throw. I could be totally off, but that's just my opinion. Good for DT, bad for Sanders.

I can not imagine Manning going to yet another team, doing the whole new offense thing. Lot on him. Lot on the team that takes that on, especially now that the recent memory of him is going to be one of eroded skills, etc.

I think this is the last year.

It's gotta be so conflicting to him. He respects the game so much and understands its history. So he knows when guys hung on too long. But at the same time, he's in it now and he still has the fire to play. His body is just failing him now.

Just tossing this out there: stats for Manning over one calendar year:

349-566 (62%), 3995 yards, 19 TD, 25 int. 7.05 Y/A, 76.9 QB rating.

These numbers go back to 11/16/2014. This is over 17 games, and is not counting one playoff game.

That looks really good... compared to just his 2015 numbers. Because there was no way he was getting to 19 TD's this season.

Does literally anyone but him care about passing records? He's the all time leader in yardage. I guess that's nice. Also bound to get passed before he's 55 the way the game is played today.

As someone much closer to 50 than 40, I can relate. How you feel can vary pretty widely from day to day. You have days when you feel like you "still got it" and other days, not so much.

I'm sure Manning goes from "contemplating retirement" to "plans for 2016" and everything in between on a near weekly basis from here on out...

and yet those numbers are still below average pretty much across the board.

Peyton Manning - QB - Broncos

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Peyton Manning (foot) isn't expected back "anytime soon."

The NBC cameras spotted Manning in a modified walking boot before Sunday evening's game against the Patriots, while Brock Osweiler turned in a competent start in his stead. The Broncos are clearly content to let Manning heal and give Osweiler an extended audition before the postseason. Manning should be on the waiver wire in all re-draft leagues.

One more record still out there... (I think) he is currently tied with Brett Favre for all-time wins as a starting QB???

I'm with Scooter's comment above... courtesy start with the B Team in week 17 to get that one... then he can sit back and hope that Brock brings him another ring.

Here's a twist of irony - in the end it was the New England Patriots that put and end to Mannings career.

By virtue of the Broncos winning on Sunday, Brock will be the starter the rest of the season, and Manning will hang them up. Had Brock struggled, we would probably see Manning sooner rather than later.

took me a minute to remember that Tom's first start was against Peyton. they really should cover that more in the media.

WHOA... Irving and guys call out Manning on NFL Game Day Morning show.

Rapoport reported that Manning will not be a backup to Brock if he's healthy.

Irving paraphrases that Manning is saying "Either I start or I quit".

WOW... this could get real ugly!
