Jason Snelling - sneaky good play this week - even with Turner playing (1 Viewer)

Looks like Turner is gonna play but he admittedly won't be 100%.

Falcons only chance to beat the Saints in New Orleans is to run, run and run some more.

Saints coming off a short week and their defense just took a pounding courtesy of the 49ers nasty OL and Frank Gore.

IF things go the Falcons way, I could see Snelling having a very productive day.

And even if the Saints pull way ahead, Snelling may get more dump offs than Turner anyway.

What say you?

according to this he's a must start!

News: Falcons RB Michael Turner (groin) is expected to return for Sunday's game at New Orleans, but backup Jason Snelling will still play a role on offense, especially with Jerious Norwood (knee) now out for the year. "Jason's just a darn good football player," coach Mike Smith said. "He makes plays in the run game and makes plays in the pass game." In Week 2 against Arizona, Turner left the game with the groin injury, and Snelling filled in with three touchdowns and 186 total yards in his place. He will likely get about 10 total touchdowns in Week 3 against the Saints.

I admittedly haven't seen the Falcons play this year yet, but I would think that Jerius Norwood being out for the year would mean Snelling would probably be their 3rd down back, even if Turner is healthy, right? Factor in Turner's injury, and he could get a decent amount of carries, too. Either way, I obviously wouldn't start him over someone reliable, but if you are looking for help as a result of drafting guys like Spiller, Mathews, Grant, etc., you could do a lot worse right now than Snelling.

Drafted Grant, Charles and Ronnie.

Falcons only chance to beat the Saints in New Orleans is to show up and not turnover the ball.
Fixed your post, Matt Ryan is a perfectly capable QB and their passing game is more than fine.

On the other hand, Saints D is bad at everything, so really the falcons just need to not turnover the ball and they win.

Fair enough - Matty Ice to Roddy is totally legit. This could be a Falcons upset.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter expects the Falcons to be "extra careful" with Michael Turner's groin injury in this week's game.

Ledbetter is reading the tea leaves as opposed to dropping inside info. With Jason Snelling proving once again that he's a fine alternative, "there is no reason to risk additional strain on the groin." We still expect Turner to start and see at least 15 touches. He should be in fantasy lineups as a RB2 this week.

This is a nightmare for Turner owners. I have him and Snelling and don't feel great about starting either this week to be honest.

I'm thinking the Saints D rebounds after that poor outing. SF has a big tough OL that was able to push the saints around. ATL has one of the lightest OLs in the NFL.

I dont like the matchup for either guy. Turner or Snelling.

What tough loss? Saints are 2-0.

We aren't even in bye weeks yet. Your season is in trouble if you are looking to start Snelling. I could see it if Turner were out but if Turner plays I don't see much upside.

Ya my season could be crumbling...what a 180 from last year.

I read that blurb earlier and I wasn't too thrilled either. I have both guys, not sure which one to start.
Same but I'm still going with Turner. He was not limited in practice yesterday so I don't see why he'd be limited in the game. Also was watching Playbook on NFL Channel and noticed Brian Billick referred to Turner's injury as "him cramping up a little bit last week" which is not the same as a groin and really nothing to worry about this week. Now my first thought would be that Billick is not as tuned into the Falcons as say their beat writer but I think the Falcons HC is Billicks brother in law.

I didn't like the way this whole thing smelled so i pitched turner for Bradshaw and Roddy White. Snelling is too good to be ignored and have a feeling he's gonna get more carries, plus some gl touches as well.

Wishful thinking. Cramps go away they don't limit you in practice and in the game.

Not really wishful thinking. Just reporting what I heard and while you might have a point with practice he was limited the first day of practice and full go since. Cramping would most certainly limit you during a game.

So also it would be smart to take the over in this game.

10 TDs in week 3! :jawdrop:
Anyway, I just got Snelling off the wire but think I'm gonna start him over...Charles vs. 49ers Ronnie vs. Jets
Drafted Grant, Charles and Ronnie.
Is there really a reason to make 3 posts in a row, 6 minutes apart from first to last? There is an EDIT button for a reason... :lmao:
Thank you for bringing this aggregious crime to my attention. I will try to right this terrible wrong. What are you going to tackle next - world hunger? Peace in the Middle East?

Taking this on a little tangent but Snelling is also a strong buy in dynasties. FA at the end of the season. If he continues his good production someone is going to give him a starter shot.

Anybody rolling with him against the Niners today?
Yup, but it's due to not having a choice. Dynasty league have ADP, Barber, and Thomas Jones on bye and of course, Pierre Thomas is inactive. Crossing fingers and hoping for the best. As long as he gives me 10 points (PPR), it should be ok.
