I know. But until players are actually cleared for a particular game, isn't there testing right up until Friday or Saturday?he didnt get the concussion this past sundayIsn't there part of the concussion testing/protocol that isn't concluded until Friday or Saturday?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/11/27/redskins-injury-report-reed-returns-to-practice-paul-sidelined/Reed will continue to be evaluated on a daily basis. If there are no setbacks, he should play Sunday night against the New York Giants, Shanahan said.
Jordan Reed (concussion) remained limited in Thursday's practice, but "feels confident" he'll be ready for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Barring a setback, Reed is going to be good to go as the Redskins look to bounce back from an ugly loss. He's a cinch TE1 for Week 13, and shouldn't be benched in any format.

Come on, would Rotoworld ever steer you wrong? Is he a lock to play this week?
Wow, I don't think I've heard (or read) the word "cinch" in about 10 years. You go, Rotoworld!Come on, would Rotoworld ever steer you wrong? Is he a lock to play this week?
No. If any concussion symptoms show up tomorrow he won't play. He's being re-examined each day according to Shanahan (I heard this on ESPN980).Is he a lock to play this week?
The source isn't listed, and they'll keep checking him up til gametime.Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been cleared to play Sunday night against the New York Giants, a source told FOXSports.com.
Reed, who missed last week’s game against the 49ers because of concussion-like symptoms, had limited participation in practice all week and was expected to play. The Redskins still have him listed as questionable. The rookie tight end was informed to notify the team if any headaches arise in the next 24 hours.
Same spot, going with Walker. I want to see Reed get through a game, and my confidence in the Washington offense is a little shaken. Things just sound bad coming out of there, so with the injury concern, and the time bomb that Washington seems to be, I'm taking a cautious approach to Reed today.Cleared to play. Now the question is do you take a dip in the Reed pool this week?
Tough for me as I've got Walker in right now but Reed is hard to sit IMHO.
I hear you but it is tough to decide between his risk and some mid tier healthy TE like Charles ClayAs long as Reed goes, considering the match-up, he's a top 6 option in PPR IMO. There aren't many TEs I'd start over him.
I'm taking the opposite approach. I can't afford to not play him and my alternative is badWith him not playing until tonight I can't take the risk.
Although Reed has been nicked up a bit (I believe this also dates back to college as well) it's not as if were talking about a lower body injury here. Don't get me wrong, concussions are no joke but if he's cleared hes essentially 100% as far as fantasy is concerned.I hear you but it is tough to decide between his risk and some mid tier healthy TE like Charles ClayAs long as Reed goes, considering the match-up, he's a top 6 option in PPR IMO. Sure, but he isn't even remotely startable. You're likely stuck with either B. Myers or Z. Miller.Looks like Reed is out. Who takes his spot? Davis?
I just picked up Ben Watson. Others were taken. Had to drop Reed, had no choice I'm in a must win game...Sure, but he isn't even remotely startable. You're likely stuck with either B. Myers or Z. Miller.Looks like Reed is out. Who takes his spot? Davis?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/12/02/severity-of-london-fletchers-ankle-sprain-not-yet-clear/Tight end Jordan Reed and safety Reed Doughty are subject to the NFL’s rules for treating players who suffer concussions and must be cleared by an independent neurologist to practice and play.
Reed missed a second straight game Sunday night after suffering a recurrence of his concussion symptoms. He had said last week he’d expected to play against the Giants.
Doughty suffered his second concussion of the season Sunday.
“A guy has a second one, there is more concern,” Shanahan said.
Yeah I thought it was strange too. It looks like this train as done stopped.Am I missing something here? This guy left a game with a concussion that NOBODY saw happen and may miss 3 weeks. Meanwhile, Leveon Bell nearly dies and may not miss a single game? Very strange.
Also, has any other player missed more than 1 game with a concussion this year?

Jordan Reed (concussion) must be cleared by an independent neurologist before he can practice or play this week.
Reed was on track to suit up against the Giants last week, but he suffered from pre-game headaches and was a last-minute scratch. Now he's back in the league's concussion protocols, which means passing baseline tests and meeting with doctors. The good news is the Redskins play at 1pm ET in Week 14, so we'll know Reed's status nice and early. If active, he'll be a fine TE1 play. The move tight end is averaging 5.5 catches for 60.8 yards with three touchdowns in the eight full games he's played in this season.
Wouldn't you think Reed would have gotten Paulsens numbersThose who were counting on Reed last week and able to switch him out in time actually lucked out. The only realistic replacements (Miller, Myers, Paulsen) finished 3rd, 5th and 9th on the week, respectively. Funny how that turns out.

Likely that and more, yeah. Brains are funny things. My wife works doing rehabilitation with people who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, and there's really no telling how an injury is going to affect someone ahead of time. They're incredibly complex pieces of machinery, and subtle differences in injury can produce dramatic differences in outcome.Am I missing something here? Jordan Reed (concussion) did not practice Wednesday.
Reed is back in the league's concussion protocols after suffering a setback on Sunday and will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist before he can practice or play this week. He'll be a TE1 if active for Week 14 against Kansas City.

I'm in the same situation, but I also carry Fleener. I would not drop Reed for Pitta if I were you. A random headache that leads to a late game scratch isn't reason to panic. Reed and Pitta are both gambles. But the safer bet imo is Reed. Plus you have Gronk, you need to stop worrying so much. Only a few more weeks to cash in. I'm not overly worried about Gronk wearing down as much as the next guy.I have Gronk for my TE. I have Reed also, and some weeks have used Reed in the Flex spot. I have locked a division but want to keep a backup TE in case of Gronk getting hurt again. Anybody think Reed is done for week 15 and 16 ? Pita is on waivers and am really thinking of dropping Reed for him.
Wasn't McCoy like this last year?Brains are funny things. Yes Mccoy was. Thats why I said this year. Campbell missed one game so far.Wasn't McCoy like this last year?Brains are funny things. This year, last week in fact, Campbell wasn't able to come back after getting hit by the Steelers. He still hasn't been cleared.
He doesn't have a concussion problem, he got a concussion and hasn't been cleared yet. He's not getting more concussions in the meantime, he's just waiting for his first one to resolve. Like I said, brains are weird things. Some take longer to resolve than others. Look at LeSean McCoy last year. He doesn't seem to be any worse for the wear this year as a result.Remember when people were posting in this thread that Reed was basically untradeable in dynasty? I do. This guy could be out of the league in a year if he's getting concussions without even getting hit.
Well that makes me feel a little better. I went back and tried to find out how he got it and had no luck. During the game I thought they showed a replay of him blocking on a run play when he collided with the other player their heads banged together pretty good.Jordan Reed is a long, long way from Austin Collie / Jahvid Best territory right now.
thanks for the updateJust dropped Reed to pick up Pitta. Never would have done that move, but I saw a real opportunity to cockblock my opponent who only carries Julius Thomas. Not so much worried about him grabbing Ertz or Fasano if JT is a game day scratch. But don't want Pitta to up & surprise me. Rather have him on my bench for safekeeping. Reed was a luxury anyway on my Gronk team.
i heard he had multiple concussions in collegeHe doesn't have a concussion problem, he got a concussion and hasn't been cleared yet. Had two while at Florida... but I still don't think we're anywhere close to Collie/Best.shadyridr said:i heard he had multiple concussions in collegeAdam Harstad said:He doesn't have a concussion problem, he got a concussion and hasn't been cleared yet. Jordan Reed (concussion) returned to Redskins practice Thursday, getting in a limited session.
It puts Reed on track to get cleared for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but he's obviously not out of the woods after he was surprisingly scratched in Week 13. Owners can pencil Reed into their lineups for the first week of the fantasy playoffs, but have to have a back-up plan ready. The good news is, Washington takes on the Chiefs at 1PM ET, so we'll know Reed's status Sunday morning.

here is my insightAssuming he finally plays, how do you guys feels about the match-up? I think on paper it looks much more imposing then it really is, which often feels like the case when analyzing KC's defense.
Over the first half of the season they essentially faced a bunch of TE2s aside from Witten (who hasn't done much outside of a couple of NYG games anyway). You're looking at dudes like Clay Harbor, Celek, Myers, Walker (before Fitz was under center I believe), Rivera and Graham.
TEs have had relative success recently. As a whole, they haven't done enough to call this a + match-up but Cameron (4/81/0), J.Thomas (3/43/1) and L.Green (3/80/1) have proven they are beatable. It's probably not a coincidence that this also coincides with their recent slide.
I'm not in love with the match-up but I don't hate it either. Anyone want to shine some more light on this?
