I'm not so sure this is the case. For some reason this offense seems to be designed around getting the ball to Paul who is half the player Reed is.
I've seen every snap of both of their careers. Paul is finally coming on nicely (stone hands aside) but Reed is a much, much better player. I'm not convinced he's fully healthy.I'm not so sure this is the case. For some reason this offense seems to be designed around getting the ball to Paul who is half the player Reed is.
Jordan Reed - TE - Redskins
The Redskins listed Jordan Reed on their Week 11 post-game injury report with a hamstring issue.
We didn't notice any issues with Reed during the game and beat writers made no mention of an injury afterward. But it's still notable as the oft-injured Reed battled a nasty hamstring pull earlier this season. It's unclear if this is related.

Speaking Monday, Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed Jordan Reed came away from Sunday's loss with a hamstring issue.
However, Gruden was extremely short on details. It's unclear if it's the same hamstring that sidelined Reed earlier this season, or if his status is in doubt for Week 12. For now, owners need to assume Reed won't play, but we should get a better idea of his status when the Redskins return to practice on Wednesday.

Jordan Reed strained his right hamstring in Sunday's loss to the Bucs.
It's notable because it was a left hamstring pull that cost Reed four games earlier this season. Still, his status for Week 12 is murky as this is an oft-injured player who has proven slow to recover from soft-tissue injuries before. Owners can add insurance in Niles Paul, who averaged 4.5 catches for 58.2 yards with one touchdown during that aforementioned four-game stint as the starter.

Jordan Reed (hamstring) says he'll play Week 13 against the Colts.
Reed got in a limited practice Wednesday, participating in individual drills. His Week 11 hamstring injury will end up costing him just one game. With Colt McCoy's insertion into the lineup, Reed makes for an interesting TE1 streaming option in a game the Redskins will likely be playing catch-up.

same and he gave me squat last week. Like one catch IIRC.Bum. Fortunately got Rivera a couple weeks ago
i started him week 1 at flex. Dropped him week 4 or so, someone else picked him up, then they dropped him week 10 or so and i picked him back up and started him and he got hurt again. So basically i started him two games and he got hurt both games.Ah yes good times, was just looking back over the season schedule and fondly recalling how in the first half of the first game of eh season Reed caught his first pass, leapfrogged the tackler, pulled a hammy, went out, and I lost by 2 lousy yards, 0.2. Thanks, JR.
I've moved on yet again. Now Wrightsame and he gave me squat last week. Like one catch IIRC. I'm desperate for Reed McCoy connection playing catchup in the playoffs.Bum. Fortunately got Rivera a couple weeks ago
Also, why is Niles Paul a "helluva player" in his absence and oh so pedestrian when he's around. Gruden can't utilize Paul? Can't find a two TE package that works?
Jordan Reed (hamstring) practiced for the second straight day Thursday, getting in a limited session.
It would be nice to see Reed go "full" on Friday, but all signs point toward him returning against the Colts. Reed will be at risk of re-injury, but with tight end so thin, he's worth chucking up as a low-end TE1 if you've been dissatisfied with your recent options.

Reed doesn't block. So far this season, if Reed's been on the field for a pass play, he's been out running a route 93% of the time. By far the most blocking he's done this year (as a percentage of his snaps) came against Minnesota, and he still ran a route on 86% of his passing snaps.how does st louis d matchup against reed? Since the rams have a good front will reed stay in to block?

It's not a one-year aberration, either. Reed was running routes on 92.5% of his passing snaps last year, too. He's a bad pass blocker. This was well known when Washington drafted him. Honestly, he does a lot more to slow the pass rush by running routes over the middle and keeping the linebackers on their heels, (or serving as a quick outlet target), than he would by making some half-hearted effort to hit somebody.

226 of Colt McCoy's career 792 attempts (28.5%) have been thrown to a tight end. Just in case you feel like tormenting yourself with JReed.
I grabbed him as a block move but am tempted to play him over Witten. Won't do it, must stay strong. Risk of an early in game injury is too high.I'm going to grab him, but bench him. He's worth keeping away from my opponents who need TEs.
Gronk gronk gronk.
Any Reed owners still alive and also willing to trot him out tomorrow?
Seems like there's usually a sleeper tight end rising up just this time of year.... but not this season.
18 targets in 2 games is still good.
He would even see more targets if Jackson misses the game.
Reading this leads me to believe that Jackson being back actually might help Reed.
CSN Washington's Tarik El-Bashir cites Jordan Reed as a candidate for a breakout season in 2015.
El-Bashir threw out 60 catches, 800 yards and six touchdowns as realistic projections for Reed if he can stay healthy. Those are Pro Bowl-type numbers. Reed functioned mostly as a check-down man in 2014, logging 50 catches for 465 yards. His size (6'2" and 237 pounds) suggests he could be a red zone presence, but we've yet to see that from Reed in his first two seasons (only three touchdowns in 20 games).
