Still early, but this from PFT

Kevin Smith is expected to play tonight in New Orleans

On Thanksgiving, Lions running back Kevin Smith had much for which to be thankful. Four days earlier, he accounted for 201 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns after waiting for weeks for another shot at an NFL job.

By the end of the day, he likely was muttering, “Thanks for nothing.”

Smith suffered a sprained ankle against the Packers. Initially described as a high ankle sprain, we reported on Friday that it was a mild injury and that he could be back by Week 13.

Smith is listed as questionable. Per a league source, Smith is indeed expected to play tonight when the Lions face the Saints in New Orleans.

With Jahvid Best gone for the year, the Lions desperately need some punch in the running game. Without it, too much pressure is placed on quarterback Matthew Stafford, who can’t navigate sustained drives without making a mistake.

LATEST NEWS - December 4

Profootballtalk.com reports that Kevin Smith (ankle) will play in Sunday's game against the Saints. This is an especially useful nugget because the Lions and Saints play on Sunday Night Football. PFT has had a great read on the Smith situation all along as the only media outlet that reported Smith did NOT suffer a high ankle sprain. Clearly, his sprain was minor in nature if he's able to play 10 days after the injury. Get Smith into your lineup as a quality RB2/flex, especially in PPR leagues. Saints-Lions projects as a pass-happy affair.

What time does the active/inactive list become available
Should be about now, I would think. An hour before game time now. I have Morris and Pierre Thomas as backups in 2 leagues, so it would be nice to know.
See post #4
There is no link and no source. Would you set your lineup based on that? I would like to see something a little more confident. I have Smith in the lineup in both leagues I have him, but I would like to get a real confirmation.

Is that enough or you need the United Nations ?
Was that so hard? Some of us aren't checking twitter and actually use these threads to look at all the sources. I wasn't worried about not getting the info before the game. It seems to be pretty much SOP to put the source when you post news. Twitter has lots of sources, is it the team's account, a FF site, a Lions reporter, etc.No need to get nasty, just quote the source so those of us reading this thread for info know how reliable the information is.

So Smith is starting, right? I need a PM from Schwartz to be totally sure. Someone ask Jim for me please.
 Seriously? I just mention that a post had no source on it (and at that point the official active list and most other FF sources had no news yet), so waiting for official active/inactive and I get jumped on? This forum used to be just a good place for info and now its full of this. You aren't that funny in the FFA, so please don't try so hard here.

Just kidding man. Have a :banned: and enjoy the KSmith train. I'm starting him. We are brothers in arms.
:banned: No worries. I need him to have a great game in one league where I may be able to jump into the playoffs with a huge week after being riddled with injuries all year, so a little sensitive to making sure he is going to play and actually get the bulk of work. That's why I wanted to know the source. Had that happen a couple weeks ago when Addai was said to be active and starting after practicing fully for the last 3 days of the week and he barely played.

Two guesses on who's the whiny little brother.Kevin Smith: 15 carries 8 targets 5 receptions for 120 yards and a TD. Reasonable stat line IMO.I need a 30 point game from him or my fantasy excitement is done until next years draft.

Predictions on how carries are split?
If Smith is truly healthy, he will get the bulk of the work. He is absolutely the more talented RB compared to Morris.
He is a better all-purpose back than Best.
Hard to say on that. Owned Smith back when he was the primary back before all the injuries and he was solid, especially PPR. I am not sure if we will every see what Best could have been. He looked great early in the rookie season and after the turf toe, he didn't seem the same. With the concussions, we may never see him for what he could have been.To be honest, I am pretty shocked by Smith. I don't remember any discussions about him after he was gone and Best came in. He is still pretty young and I don't remember all the injury specifics, but just seemed like he would be a journeyman, backup for the rest of his career. If he comes out of this season healthy and starts next season healthy, I could easily seem him being ranked top 15 in PPR leagues if Best doesn't recover from the concussions.Liking what he has done tonight so far though.

Poor guy is snake bit. Had to be hurting to even play, but gutted it out cause this was his shot. No one came calling in off season, and another injury could mean the end of his career. It's a shame!

Wouldn't be surprised to seeim start again next week.

:goodposting: Definitely seemed to be more of a tweak than anything. On Thanksgiving, it looked like he hurt it a lot worse and on the sidelines there was no doubt he was done for the game.

And last how long?
He barely played an entire half and got me 14pts, I'll take it and think both my teams are done anyway, but Im rooting for Kev Smith almost more than the Lions as a team
