I know there are other threads on Kyle Orton, but I don't believe we have a thread devoted entirely to his possible 2011 landing spots. I firmly believe he's played his last game as Denver's QB. He has made it known publicly that he is not happy with his current situation, and in all honesty I can't blame him--I think he has every right to be ticked off. I have to imagine the tension between him and the organization will only escalate. So, unless the new management, whoever it may consist of, decides that they want to roll with Orton in 2011 and beyond, I think the two sides have passed a point of no return and Orton will be traded.
Some of the logical landing spots include Arizona (this would be my first choice), Minnesota (this also makes a lot of sense), San Francisco, and Carolina. Some other possible landing spots, perhaps less likely, include Oakland (doubtful he would be traded to a division foe), Cincinnati (Carson seems done, but I have a feeling the organization may not be ready to admit that just yet), and Seattle.
I think Arizona and Minnesota make by far the most sense, and would be the ideal landing spots from a fantasy perspective. In Arizona, Fitz should return to elite status with Orton throwing to him--he'll be Orton's new Marshall/Lloyd. They also have enough other offensive weapons that I think Orton would be very productive in that offense.
Minny is perhaps even a better destination for Orton fantasy wise. I think he would thrive there with all of the offensive weapons on that team. I also think Rice and Harvin would thrive with Orton throwing to them.
I think on either of those two teams, Orton should remain a top 10 QB with the potential to be higher. I'm not as optimistic about his chances at fantasy success on the other teams mentioned, but i nonetheless believe that those teams, too, could use Orton's services.
Thoughts?
