Right in the middle of the glam era - I wish the guy would have been able to stick around. Lyrics aren't as weird as "The Slider" off the same album, but I like the song better. Slider brings back good memories of just coming into the teen years and getting some freedom from the parents.

Does seem to give awful short shrift to picks 12 and beyond. Especially those poor orphan basterds 17 - 22. I mean should they really mean less? They are songs too.

Agree about the video/Alizee, but getting English translations of foreign songs is a bit dodgy.
Some are literal translations of words, without understanding of the mother language.
Not all languages work like English

This is a much easier category for Scandanavian songs, but I had to find a place for A-Ha in this draft and Morten Harket has one of the most beautiful sad voices going around.
The only problem is the track to pick. A lot of A-Ha's songs are really depressing and sad with upbeat music, I had to pick the A-Ha cover of the old Everly Brothers song, written by Carole King and Howard Greenfield. A-Ha do a great job and got a big worldwide hit from it (US excluded)

Going into the wayback machine to Kanye's first album with this one. Pretty sure I've drafted it in FBG drafts before, but #### it, I love this song. It's not the orchestral narcissistic Kanye that we've become accustomed to...this is just 4 solid rap verses, 2 from Jay Z, 1 from Kanye, 1 from J. Ivy. J. Ivy's verse is basically a preacher's spoken-word sermon.

My teenager is such a music junkie she'd get frustrated if I didn't keep her in a steady supply of Itunes cards. I think it's great. She watches less than three hours of tv a week. Video games have never been a big thing for her. $10 a month for Spotify is saving me money and getting us way more music. We share the account, which only rarely creates an issue. Neither of us has purchased music in over a year, but we're both listening to new stuff constantly. Sharing has caused us to open horizons by listening to each others playlists. She went through a grunge phase that just made me happy. Now she wants to know everything there is to know about the 60s and 70s. I've shown her this draft and she said she was going to fill out the categories this weekend and try to get a group of facebook friends to start doing music drafts. Spotify

I was looking for what someone in this thread mentioned being missing -- early beatles sound. There's plenty from the 60s and 70s. Later efforts are a little heavy or too cheesy... just from what I found. I like a couple discoveries from this draft and have been on a beatlesesque kick (with the aforementioned daughter). I have about 30 nice ones that fit, but...
