Mark Sanchez eating a hot dog during the game (1 Viewer)

Is it common practice for NFL players to eat on the sidelines during the game? I've never seen it. I guess if it's common but not usually shown on tv, then I don't have a problem with it. Would Manning or Brady be chowing on a hot dog on the sidelines though?

I remember that. He didn't fine them because they were eating hot dogs. He fined them because they were eating hot dogs without washing them down with a cold beer.
 
On a totally separate note but if the whole knock on Jemarcus is that he doesnt take the game seriously then it is probably a bad idea to show up with a mohawk and then wear a toboggan at the tip of your head like a gangster.

I'm worried about his cholesterol now. I'll try to trade him away in my Dynasty league.

 
Reminds me of Bill Walker eating popcorn on the Kstate basketball bench, but he was out with an injury.

He also pissed in a towel during a game timeout.

but, I just want to know the logistics...

Did he flag down a wiener vendor from the stands? Did he send a ball boy to go grab a wiener for him? Did he smuggle the wiener in in his gym bag?

Listen, if the guy wants to suck down a few wieners during the game, i have no problem with it. I am just curious how he acquired said wiener.

I will say this

he was obviously hiding it, so he had to think it was somewhat wrong to eat the wiener.

Someday rookie QBs who pose for GQ covers will be able to mow down wieners openly on NFL sidelines, we are just not there yet.

 
Sanchez said he was hungry. He was going to eat a power bar and somebody gave him a hot dog instead. Trying to hide it was trying not to make a big deal of it.

Unlike the announcers or half this thread. Jeez louise you'd think he was beating baby seals on the sidelines.

And if he didn't all we'd be hearing was 'look at the rookie, showing up the Raiders, that's TERRIBLE, what is he thinking? He didn't even try to hide it!'

No kidding. This is an issue? LMAO!!!! The game was over. He could have eaten the hot dog at the 5 minute mark of the 1st quarter because the game was over then. Hell, the game was over at...let me check the game book......1:54 of the 1st quarter.

I agree, but you have to choose your words a little better. This sucking down a few wieners makes me feel uncomfortable.
 
If it's a big deal to Rex Ryan, then it's a big deal. If it's a big deal to the Jets ownership, then it's a big deal. If neither of those constituents care, I really can't understand why we should.

May I ask what the down and distance was? If 1st or 2nd down then I see no issue. But if he's droppin back on 3rd and long while downin a dog, then that's a whole different issue.

Hey, at least he wasn't suckin down a can of chunky soup

 
i don't understand this. If Sanchez truly wants to represent New York, he should eat a honest-to-goodness New York hot dog. Not some reconstituted junk from a vendor in Oakland.

what's NOT a classy move is the Oakland Raiders franchise trying to pass themselves off as an NFL team. :thumbdown: :rolleyes:

they're junk.garbage.a joke of a franchise. they should refund the money to anyone who comes to see them play.. and I'm not even joking about that. the networks should force the Raiders to pay THEM to put their games on TV.

 
I don't think its hard to come up with reasons why he shouldn't be eating a hot dog on the sidelines. Its very far from common practice.

What is he supposed to be doing? This is his job. He's at work. Of all the time he works at his job, this is supposed to be the most focused and serious part of his job. The game is ongoing. Was there absolutely no chance he was going back on the field? I ask because I don't know what the game situation was.

There's an element of disrespect and childish behavior here, and he knows it. Hence, attempting to hide his behavior. Blowing it off and ignoring it is probably the wrong thing to do. Attempting to make a mountain out of it is probably the wrong thing to do as well.

 
Chalk me down in the "hilarious" camp. In fact, when I first heard about it, I thought he would be openly chowing down the hot dog. Seeing the cover-up attempt was slightly disappointing. Be proud of your eating habits, man!

 
the real question here is .....did he add ketchup and mustard or just the mustard ??? can't have one without the other ... too gross.

 
The insult is that a guy that lives in the NYC area would eat a hotdog outside of NY. Chicago would be ok for a hotdog but not California. Dunno what would be appropriate in Cali, a hooker dipped in blow would be excessive.

Does it have to be a big deal? Can it possibly be a small deal as opposed to no deal? Why do people feel forced to negotiate in such extremes? I can't fathom how people see the world as so black and white. Aren't there shades of gray?
 
This is wrong, should not even be a thread. I am surprised the So Cal dude woofed down a lips n snout food produce and did not order a veggie burger or carrot shake to rejuvinate. Did they say if he was a mustard or ketchup guy? Seriously, is this really an issue.

 
You never climbed out of a penalty box in a hockey game to go get a quick whiskey and a corn dog? Its almost more insulting not to.

 
Sanchez is a JERK! The only reason he is hiding it, is because the doesn't want to share. You Make $40 mil and you can't spring for a few extra dogs for you teammates. I'd give him a wedgy for that stunt.

In all seriousness..who cares? Dude was hungry and would have freaked out 10,000 Tweeters if he had run to the locker room for a minute.

BTW, do the players run to the little NFLers room if they need to go? Maybe he could have eaten it on the crapper?

 
This seems like when Ocho Cinco and another Bengal were eating nachos on the sideline during the preseason on Hard Knocks. They weer hiding too, but nachos seem so much worse to me, for some stupid reason.
