Obviously, Marvin cannot create opps on his own...TO he's not. And he should not be considered among the greats with RICE if he posts numbers like this.

This is an interesting and very valid theory I believe. I think we see way more press coverage in the playoffs. I couldnt believe today how close some of the corners were getting at the line to receivers. I think they are more likely to grab and hit and hold in the playoffs because they know the refs are less likely to call these plays. We saw some bad calls today, but we could have seen more. I noticed in the bears game several times recievers were being held at about the 6-7 yard distance. I also know that Bush would have been called for taunting in any regular season game. He was pointing at Urlacher as he was running into the end zone, then did his flip thing. So if you have a receiver whose strength is in running routes and getting separation and isnt know for fighting for the ball, it will be tougher to excel in the postseason.

Doesn't he have more TD's than Rice if you compare the years playing for Harrison and the same time in Rice's career?

In 13 playoff games, Harrison has 55/776/2. That's terrible, especially when you consider that he was a top 5 fantasy receiver in all but two of those games, and the number 1 or number 2 fantasy WR in six of those eleven. I don't know what the cause is, but it's a significant drop-off. Pro-rated numbers are 68/955/2, which is obviously well below his norms.

For some reason Harrison to me doesn't seem to be "in the game".

Most, if not all, of Mannings picks in the play-offs came when he has thrown to Harrison. Two when they weren't on the same page. Manning threw outside Harrison ran inside.

Then yesterdays pick Harrison didn't seem to even make a move for the Ball. He sat on the route and waited for the ball which gave the Defender the opportunity to make the play.

Maybe it's just me but Harrison seems not to be "in the game" right now.

Nearly every play I saw yesterday he was absolutely blanketed. I don't know if he can't get seperation or what the problem is but he certainly has been a disappointment.

Manning has lousy post season stats, it makes sense that the WR's suffer.

In another medical matter, HC Tony Dungy said he was unable to shed any light on an apparent injury to Pro Bowl WR Marvin Harrison. "Marvin, I think, is going to be fine," he said. "He's been battling a few things, his wrist more than anything. But he didn't say too much on the plane." There was no indication that Harrison's injury is serious.

Peyton kep t throwing to Harrison in the first half as if forcing it to him. Harrison at one point grabbed hi wrist and left the field if I remember correctly. It wasn't util Manning went away from Harrison/A.Samuel when his offense took off. Maybe Harison was playing with an injured hand? who knows, but the Colts should have went to Wayne, Clark, Addai a little sooner in my opinion.

I'd have to try to look it up, but I was under the impression he'd been playing hurt (hand/wrist) for a while now.ETA: Here's an article from December that suggests he had been playing with a hand problem for almost a month before that.

Given the production he had at the end of regular season (weeks 13-17) it's not far fetched to think he's aggravated the injury to the point that it impacts his ability to play.

As an aside, I was surprised to learn the other day that the most prolific pass combo in NFL history, the guys that religiously work the ladder in pre game workouts, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison really do not like each other at all and have not for years.

Manning is real down-to-earth, good old boy who is fun to be around and is liked by many Colt players.

Harrison is a recluse, doesn't really like football. He does obsess with perfection in his chosen craft. He rarely speaks to teammates off the field and supposedly he and Manning have absolutely no use for each other.

Goes to show what a pro Manning is as he has fed Marvin's stats from time to time (not that Harrison isn't a great player) in order to keep his ego stroked.

I noticed that after Harrison dropped that perfect pass on 3rd down Manning didn't throw him another ball. I suspected that he was hurt and the Colts just kept him on the field as a decoy so the Pats couldn't double someone else.

Was just talking about this and wanted to post this here. Oh well.

For the record, Reggie Wayne also seems to clam up come playoff time, with just one 100+ yard day in 10 post-season games (a 221-yd monster game vs. Denver in '04).

Manning, on the other hand, has 9 games of 240+ yards out of 12 post-season games, so it's not him.

Dallas Clark has more 100+ yard games in the post-season (three in six games) than Wayne & Harrison have combined (two) in 23 games.
