"Mass Casualty Event" in Las Vegas (1 Viewer)

What are the current conspiracy theories out there right now?
Yesterday there were people in this thread speculating that the "real shooters" grabbed this guy off the casino floor, shot from his room, then killed him and got away. Guess they made him go to all those gun stores and buy all the guns, too.

I googled it too.

Wiki first sentence "There is no universal agreement on the definition of terrorism."
Just so I understand your argument. You are telling me that the dictionary definition of terrorism is incorrect because you believe there is no universal agreement on the term. After saying there is no universal agreement you are upset that the media doesnt completely agree with you and call this terrorism?

Do I have that correct?

Pics of the room are starting to leak out, including the dead shooter.  I expect police to start having to release what they have soon.

10:28 p.m.: An officer reports concertgoers are getting into patrol vehicles and trying to grab shotguns.

10:44 p.m.: Making the situation worse, scared concertgoers tried taking police vehicles that were parked near the venue. "I need some more units here. I’m being overtaken by citizens trying to take patrol cars," one officer reports over the radio.
these two descriptions jump off the page.
I took the second one to mean that he was being overrun by injured people needing a "take" a ride to hospital

Not at all. I was honestly asking why it isn't being called one. You gave me a good response, which I noted as such.

However it is also fair to note that the definition you gave is not considered universal.  I am merely questioning why and looking for honest answers, nothing more.

The fact that I have no problem calling it a terrorist attack is not the point at all, I have no expectation that everyone/anyone agree with me.

Fair enough.

There it is again.

Also you forgot the link.

Also 2.0, I have no issue with Huffington Post.
First thread in the politics sub forum - search within the thread for "terrorism" and you'll find plenty to reply to.  Or start your own thread in the forum.  This thread should be about the facts.

P.S. It's probably a threadworthy topic, but it definitely belongs in the politics sub forum.  It's a worthy debate to have

I didn't come here to fight so I will consider walking away. But I don't like trying to define this thread as a safe space.

I'm not taking PMs, and I don't want to post the link here because it shows the shooter and his brains blown out under his head.  Can someone tell me the rules here?  I'm thinking the link, even in a spoiler tag, is out of bounds for FBGs.

After further thought, don't post it or post it at :e:

A music draft just got shut down because of three (maybe in poor taste, but no worse than PG) jokes that were over Joe's line. Use that as your benchmark.

I found a pretty gruesome close up of the guy on /r/conspiracy (of course). If you poke around there I'm sure you'll find some. I reconsidered after looking at that one.

lol at "safe space"

I'm dropping it.  Feel free to post whatever and I guess if the mods think it belongs elsewhere, they can jump in.

How is politics not involved when people won't even have a discussion about our national obsession with guns and the consequences of same when it is directly related to this tragedy?

"It's inappropriate to talk about gun legislation in the aftermath of such a terrible tragedy."

Same thing happened last month.

"It's inappropriate about climate change in the aftermath of such terrible tragedies in Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico."

The denial of political responsibility/influence in these events is entirely political.
There's a thread for that..........in the POLITICAL FORUM.

Yeah, I get it already. This is where we talk about news like what kind of guns they were, because that is somehow important to know.  Maybe to help people to prepare for, I don't know, future discussions about gun control.

Carry on.

This woman lives like 10 blocks from me... She originally posted the messages on a mom's group that my wife is on, it was then forwarded to other places, made the rounds, & went viral.

Anyways, her kids go to a neighboring school as mine (luckily not the same one) and it is being monitored by cops and there is law enforcement parked in front of her house too due to death threats... I'd bet if her social feeds were public (which they're not) you could def find a lot of anti-cop rhetoric on it, until now, when she is hysterical and needs them.

Honestly, the comments from this woman are despicable, her apology afterwards is only due to the consequences, not the initial feeling which I'd bet she still has.

If I ever come across her, I def will speak my opinion that she is an awful human being.

There was another woman who didn't receive the same publicity and is receiving threats on her Yelp or FB page, she is a photographer too... They're posting on this mom's forum (it is a private forum, FYI, prob about 4-5k members, but invite only) asking for mom's to back them up on Yelp, FB, etc...

I told my wife to lay into this #####... When Real Housewives of Brooklyn Heights Battle.

I honestly can't wait to get home and read all of the banter on their forum.

Let it go man

Hug your kids, go outside with them for a walk or ice cream and don't feed into that type of negativity

Just let it go

It has nothing to do with the kids... But regardless, you're prob right - nonetheless, I'm still excited to see what these women are writing and fighting about.

it appears the shooter shaved his head.  not sure if this is his most recent look or some ritual thing he did before he went berzerk

How many of these guns did he actually use in the shooting?  Strange that he stockpiled so many.
Automatic fire mods can melt down barrels very fast as well as cause jams.  Sadly, he may have learned this lesson from the movie theater shooting.

So he was swapping guns quite a bit?  It makes perfect sense that he would.  I just haven’t seen it mentioned in any of the news stories.

From the audio in the real time videos you can hear the different sounds from the guns.  From reddit it seems he started with the AK, moved to a bump fired 223, then later a 308.

Especially if he was intent on taking the coward's way out.
They all take the coward's way out... Mainly because they're cowards that need soft easy targets.

I'd love to understand the psychology behind James Holmes, being he is one of the only ones that didn't take his own life. He's obviously still a coward, but maybe there is something there that can be used to help the mental health aspect in the future in terms of prevention... IDK.

I can't remember if it's Showtime or HBO but there is a series specific to these attacks and he is episode 1. I switched the channel as it was disturbing but it has his psychiatric meetings from what I got. Maybe someone watched and could speak to it.

I own several guns and I've shot bambi.  There is no reason anyone needs to have an AR-15, DDM4, or its equivalent.  If you want to keep it, then it needs to be secured in a location (i.e. what the Swiss have).  And bump stocks or anything equivalent should be a felony.

Water board him and we will get the answer.

I've been arguing with conspiracy whackos on /r/Conspiracy for over an hour. I should really just back away, but it is so hard. I just don't get these people. I enjoy conspiracy theories myself, but how do you leap past the loads of obvious flaws to some of the things they believe?

I'm currently trying to explain to someone that, no, Mandalay Bay does not have floor to ceiling windows on the 10th floor that fully open and close with no balcony, and that it is unlikely that someone removed/replaced/fixed a window pane in the middle of the night with thousands of police, first responders, civilians, reporters, and cameras nearby.  :loco:

They're also pretty focused on the fact that a security guard was shot in the leg on the 32nd floor and that this implies there were more shooters who got away. I'll admit that this is the weirdest part of the event so far, but the "official" story is that the guard was shot through the door of the suite and I just saw a picture on The Daily Mail that shows like 20+ exit bullet holes in one of the suite doors, so I'm going to say that story checks out for me.

I've spent a large portion of my day trying to convince a guy that curtains move out of the way and back again.  He cannot figure out why there are curtains blowing in the wind in pictures and video from yesterday and today, and from the back side, they don't look like the pictures showing the front.

Here are more pics from the room:

Notice in the second.  I count 14 mags neatly stacked, which makes me think they were still loaded.  Hundreds of rounds.  I still think he shot himself after the security guard, thinking he was about to get overrun.  I think someone first mentioned that here.
