MFL (1 Viewer)

Just now with this outage.  A lot of what has been holding them back from what I gather has been the really old back end database running things.  If this is the last piece of that upgrade then they can move forward with modernizing things.  I could be totally wrong of course.  But from what they have implied on Twitter and in responses to people's feature requests over the past few years this would be a good bet.

So maybe now they can re-do the scoreboard to be more dynamically updated similar to other services versus and entire page refresh. Thanks like that for example.
Until that website looks like it's from at least 2012, and they have dedicated/supported apps for iphone AND android... they're scamming the community.

They are making FAR too much income to be putting out such a piss poor product. Customization aside, absolutely atrocious site.

What site do you use?

Really.  And you work in IT and know how database upgrades work?  Especially from a decade+ old version?  I'm honestly surprised it didn't take longer.  I've seen many database upgrades go a whole lot worse then this over the years even to the point of plopping down half a million to Oracle themselves to come in and save the day.  Happens all the time.  Been involved many times in upgrades of all types where you've done the upgrade in test and validation several times without a hitch and when you get to production it all goes wrong for some reason and a 2 hour upgrade takes 5 days.  It Sucks.

So wow, MFL was down a whole 6 days when 98% of leagues are dark doing a very much needed upgrade to get into the 21st century.  Too many panties in a wad over this.
As someone who works in IT and has been on both ends of this I'm not personally offended by the downtime as I can sympathize with them.  Things go wrong and it sucks and I'm sure they were stressing out over it a lot more than any of us customers were.

That said, this "I'm surprised it didn't take longer" stuff is way off-base.  Any job I've ever had if I oversaw an upgrade that took the site down for 6 days I would have been fired.  That's way way way beyond the acceptable range of even worst case scenarios for most employers.  They're lucky that they're essentially in a niche with no competition.

Fair enough.  It was a flippant comment.  I guess I'm just saying it wouldn't have surprised me if it took longer.

Had it been me in charge of this project I would have tried to make the entire upgrade "off to the side" so to speak, have it all up and running/validated and then just switched over.  Then pretty much the only issues would be a network one or that the new environment couldn't handle tens of thousands of transactions all at once for some reason.   I would assume they don't host their own servers "in house" and probably have dedicated servers co-located somewhere so perhaps doing what we would do in the corporate world wouldn't work for them.  I dunno.

Anyway, it's over.  NFL draft in 3 days.  Onward.

This new MFL loggin to link to franchises is a real pain.  Several people in my league couldn't figure it out.

Really? I think it's much improved. I am appreciative of the change.

Once I am logged into one league I don't need to keep logging into each league individually.

It's better once you've got it set up.  Single log-in across all your leagues is much better.

Setting it up is a pain though and, like Quez, several people in my league couldn't figure it out.

I might be late on the but is the ability to like my teams from mfl to footballguys ever going to come back??

i have been trying g to get back after the summer break and it still says they are upgrading.....??

Ran slow for me last night as well. Now all of a sudden my leagues don't show up when I click on the "My leagues" tab at the top of the screen. It only shows the league page that I'm on,  previous years for that league,  and a link to pull up all my leagues on another screen. With MFL going to a master account for all of your leagues,  that means I'm signed in to all of my leagues if I'm signed into one.  So it's not a case of me being logged out of some of my leagues.
