Middle Aged Dummies!! Artists #1's have been posted!! (2 Viewers)

@Manster- I assume you are considering all Claypool projects? Or is this just Les solo projects? Either way, I'm stoked for this one.
I'm going to consider anything Claypool is involved in......there is A LOT of stuff out there. That's probly the main reason I picked him. Also, I think it's more interesting than just going with Primus. He is a prolific artist with some interesting collaborations.
I like his stuff with a Beatle son.

My selection is Ryan Adams - please don't call him Bryan Adams (he does not like that and has famously walked off the stage when people called out "Summer of '69" as a request at his shows).

Adams' career started out in the band Whiskeytown one of the alt-country/no depression bands that came into prominence in the early/mid 90s along with Uncle Tupelo/Wilco/Son Volt, The Jayhawks, Old 97s, Lucinda Williams, The Mavericks, The Bottle Rockets, Golden Smog and others. This has been my "go to" musical preference since that time.

I'm leaving the Whiskeytown stuff off my list, and just going with his solo work, including his albums credited to Ryan Adams and the Cardinals. For the most part he's kept his alt-country sound, but has explored rock, pop and indie music as well. The guy has been prolific putting out 25 albums since he went solo in 2000, including 6 albums in 2022 alone. In recent years he's moved further and further up my lists of artists that I listen to the most. I'm not sure what the feedback will be or how much interest others will show - but hopefully at least a few people will be moved to explore more of his catalogue once this is over.
Love Ryan Adams... going to see in in concert for 1st time in June... looking forward to your list

With regards to Elton John, I haven’t made any sort of ranking yet but I can guarantee that almost all my selections will be from his first 5-6 albums, with a lot of deep cuts. Basically up until around 1975 or so. I just think the quality drops after that.

and still have a HUGE selection - and many tough choices

I’m sure there will be a 1982 song in there.

Don't Shoot me... is one of my fave albums. I was considering him ,and would have done the same.

I think they just came out with a vinyl box set of Don't Shoot Me...

On a personal note, I had a chance to drive around listening to my mix. I quite like it and hope others do, especially the newbies and aficionados.

These are the last entries. No more will be accepted.

As far as daily playlists go, I will play it by ear.

Not everyone is going to list 31 songs.

So the first 7-11 days could see only 25-30 artists per day.

I'm kinda baffled how the last two with 44 and 45 songs per day were never asked to be broken up, and now 52, that might only happen the last 20 days is such a big deal. Again we will see how it plays out, and will be taking Saturdays off.

I think yu may be over-achieving here. I'm still listening to albums and savoring the awesome sounds.

Heh. I am looking to have it done by the third week of May so it doesn't interfere with travel. It's preliminary, and I've already changed one song and am going through the thought process and listening to change another.

I sat with their six proper releases in the past few days and I am moving on to selecting and winnowing out certain tracks.

That was an issue for many people. Many people said they couldn’t keep up.

A compromise could be just doing the list every other day of maybe MWF (and one weekend day).

I thought your avatar was Sabastian Bach for a second there.

You're not alone - at first glance, looked like the love child of Sebastian Bach and Glenn Frey.

You officially have an avatar creepier than Binky's clown. Good job.

J. Mascis is a guitar God. Lou Barlow, once kicked out of Dinosaur Jr., is excellence. I eagerly await your rankings.

I was thinking Bach and Bonnie Raitt.

Still trying to decide. The Cure, The Police, Cars, Green Day, or Supertramp just for otb.

Any preferences?

I vote Police/Green Day because selfishly I like both of them but have definitely not heard 31 songs from either.
Originally was going to go for The Cure, as I'm seeing them June 4. But then thought I don't want to hear them so much creating my 31 that I would be sick of them by the show.

So I'm mostly down to these two.

The Police have five studio albums plus a rarities collection and a couple of live albums.

The Cars have seven studio albums. There's a live album as well if you count The New Cars.

My top 31 list of songs for Genesis is complete (although I keep monkeying with the order).

14 of the 31 songs come from Gabriel-fronted albums, 17 from Collins. 10 different albums are represented. 16 songs come from my favorite 3 albums (Foxtrot, Selling England, and Trick of the Tail). Almost 4 hours total. :bag:

I’ll probably order my playlist chronologically rather than by my rankings.

What if there's no spotify version of a song, its only on youtube? Do these playlists prefer a consistent platform?

Pip found covers for Neil on the last one. Are there any covers? Is it a few like that, or whole lot?
We need Spotify? I don't use Spotify...

ETA...just re-read OP. Looks like YouTube works.
List is at 46...this is not good. I don't want to cut anymore.
