MixTape Draft - 6+ word titles. Finish your draft and listen to mixes! (1 Viewer)

In thread Fall Out Boy long songs draft IMO. I have FOB.2 ready to go.
I had literally 4 or 5 others off the top of my head that I'd love to have picked.  One of them I'd already picked in the past year or so though I think.

It's a shame that possibly my favorite song off of From Under the Cork Tree is "XO", and my favorite Christmas song ever "Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" aren't 6-word titles.  "Grand Theft Autumn" is like the #1 song of my senior year of HS / freshman year of college though.

XO is also my favourite song on From Under the Cork Tree.  It was one of my exes' favourite song period :oldunsure:

I'm a sucker for Infinity on High, and it's loaded with ridiculously named songs.

The gifts you're receiving from me
Will be
One awkward silence
And two hopes you cry yourself to sleep
Staying up, waiting by the phone
And all I want this year is for you to dedicate your last breath to me
Before you bury yourself alive

Don't come home for Christmas
You're the last thing I want to see
Underneath the tree
Merry Christmas, I could care less

Happy new years baby
You owe me the best gift I will ever ask for
Don't call me up, when the snow comes down
It's the only thing I want this year

I remember going to Media Play in early May 2005 right after From Under the Cork Tree was released, I bought that album and Beck's Guero.  I still remember getting ripped on mercilessly by my 17-18 year old friends for buying a Beck album, yet everyone was cool with the Fall Out Boy album.

I need to take a couple of mulligans.

Gonna drop Tom Waits and Cornershop.

Add:

Eels - In The Yard, Behind The Church

Super Furry Animals - It's Not The End of the World?

RD 20:  I Don't Want To Ever Come Down - 13th Floor Elevators

60s psychedelic rock, one of the earlier ones.  I didn't know these guys (though I had heard some of their stuff and didn't recognize the band) until I saw the documentary on the main guy, Roky called "You're Gonna Miss Me."  Highly recommend.

These guys should have been bigger.

song link.

I'll stick with Roky and his crew.  Sorry for the early pick.

Here is my Spotify link - Nobody Gives A Damn About Songs Anymore

Wasn't really considering how I would line them up until now.  Will listen to this tomorrow to see if it sticks this way.  I have a lot of the '80's stuff grouped in the middle and all of my ladies stuff right in a row.  The only theme I was trying for was not to take two songs from the same year, but blew that midway through the draft.  Numbers refer to draft slot.  Really don't have a good place for the Cinderella song, so if I was to throw one back or try to swing a trade, that is the one on the chopping block.

1. Otis Redding - (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay (1968)

14. Percy Sledge - When A Man Loves A Woman (1966)

7. Bill Haley and His Comets - (We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock (1955)

2. The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand (1963)

6. James Brown - Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag (1966)

8. George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer (1977)

4. The Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want (1969)

15. The Mavericks - As Long as There's Loving Tonight (2013)

11. The Killers - Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine (2004)

12. Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun (1983)

5. Tina Turner - What's Love Got To Do With It (1984)

10. Eurythmics, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)(1983)

13. Grace Potter and The Nocturnals - The Lion The Beast The Beat (2012)

3. U2 - I Still Haven't Found What I’m Looking For (1987)

9. Lucero - Went Looking For Warren Zevon’s Los Angeles (2015)

17. The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (1969)

16. Cinderella - Don't Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone) (1988)

18. John Prine - That's the Way That the World Goes 'Round (1978)

19. Jason Isbell - Songs That She Sang In the Shower (2013)

20. Sadler Vaden - Nobody Gives A Damn About Songs Anymore (2016)

So, is someone going to take the awesome early-00s punk St. Patrick's Day song that has 6 words or can I spotlight it here :oldunsure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZQ2LlKA6YI

Evelyn sits by the elevator doors
It's been 37 years since James died on St. Patrick's Day in 1964
But she could not hold it against him
There were times when there was nothing she could do
But lie in bed all day beside a picture of them together
A picture of better days

And just like James, I'll be drinking Irish tonight
and the memory of his last work week will be gone forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
Well I swear to God that I'll love you forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!

In all the years that went by she said
She'd always love him
and from the day that he died
She never loved again

And in his wallet she kept in her nightstand
an A.A. card and a lock of red hair
she kept secrets of pride locked so tight in her heart
it killed a part of her before the rest was gone.
She said, "If I would have known just how things would have ended up
I just would have let myself die."

And just like James, I'll be drinking Irish tonight
and the memory of his last work week will be gone forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
Well I swear to God that I'll love you forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!

Awesome.

BTW, that song you had no idea what it was back many moons ago? That was Dillinger Four. It's in my draft.

I'm going to punt Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr's tune, and I'm replacing it with James Carr's The Dark End of The Street.

I need some flute and barroom piano for my last song in the draft...

Same as before, put the word spoiler in brackets [] and close it with /spoiler in brackets, with your text in between them.

"he's a shadow of what he used to be ever since i put him in his place"

she's just a memory that's scarred him horribly

and looks like lipstick on his face

this side of paradise is slow

no eager men go to the show,

except for me

she wore a bright red dress

always looked half undressed

and he stuck by her side like glue
she's give him perfect eyes

smiled at him every time

and when she spoke it was the truth
now it's been twenty days

sleepless and stupid days

wasting good time on feeling bad

she's taken everything

greenbacks and anything

that she could steal behind his back
