MTV's The Challenge (and other reality shows) (1 Viewer)

Bananas and CT b2b men’s winners. Love it. Peoples heads must be exploding in the “super fan” threads. Also glad Corey didn’t win, never been a fan of him and his sidekick Nelson.

People watch MTV?  Music Television?  What a joke that network is now.  I can't believe they still call themselves MTV when there isn't any music.

Corey's grown on me the last couple seasons, actually seems like a pretty decent person now, I'm sure having a kid had something to do with that.  I've liked seeing him in the finals last two seasons.

I could get on board with this.  But it still wasn't that long ago where those two were quite a jerky duo.  Nelson hasn't reeled it in much.

Corey is a very good athlete and has performed well in every show he's been on. Which is the difference between him and Nelson. Nelson is undersized and slow in comparison to everyone else. Not a good combo.

11 year age difference or not, he absolutely embarrassed Darrell in that challenge. Corey's not exactly a spring chicken himself at this point.

But neither seem to be all that bright, so I don't really think either will be a big threat to win any solo finals.

I think Nelson is hilarious because he looks to be in great shape, not one of the elite there, but seemingly upper half, but he always preforms like crap, and can never pull out a win, it's pretty funny to watch.

They are currently filming season 37.  Everyone had to test before hand, then quarantine and get tested 3 times a week.   After filming the first daily challenge someone has tested positive so everything is shutdown and the contestants back into quarantine.  Since during the challenges everyone is in close proximity to each other they are all considered "close contact".  Not sure how they address this in the show.  Does the person who tested positive just go home and get replaced, I think they were keeping extra contestants close by for this reason.  Do they ignore the 5 days or whatever that everyone was isolated.  I haven't tried to figure out who is in this season, but did see a news feed that Jay was one of the alternates but he was sent home before filming had started.

Is the “All Stars” worth a watch? I may throw it on when I’m concentrating more on other things. Definitely some people on there I thought I’d never see again (and it probably should have stayed that way).

I've been watching because I'm a challenge nerd but it is meh overall.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a bunch of mostly 40 somethings that've been out of the loop for 5-10-20+ years. A lot less of the scripted BS you'd get from a normal challenge. Like the garbage they scripted with Kasey/Fessy at the final was just so pathetic :lmao:  . Really thought someone was going to die during their first challenge of All stars..

JMO They really went to the bottom of the barrel for some of these All Stars.

The new season started this week.   There was an Episode 0 that sort of introduced the people, then on Wed was episode 1.  A bunch of international rookies, some 2-3 season "veterans" and only a handful of the OG veterans.

Without giving anything away I love that the phrase 'you all have seen a Bananas Backpack but..." was used in the episode.

Pretty good start I must say. Should be the first of many partner flips. Hopefully all the matches are not 2v2 cuz we’ll be due for some clunkers, but I like the idea of 2 going home.

I’ll never applaud or forget Devin’s past, but this season I might be able to get on board with him.

Anyone watching this latest season?

My question is, how the F is it fair in these team challenges when the one team has 6 people and the other two have 4?  Makes no sense.

I was laughing out loud last night during Devin's impression of Nelson.  Spot on.

Supposedly Ashley got kicked off the show during last night's episode for harrassing Josh about being gay.

-----

What rule did Ashley break?

Although unconfirmed by Ashley or MTV, one source revealed she said everyone knows co-star Josh Martinez is gay.

There is no confirmation about his sexual orientation, but several fans and co-stars have made speculation, including Ashley.

Ashley and Josh had reportedly gotten into an argument, which involved her telling him that everyone knows he is gay, and then carried on as usual.

However, Devin and Logan are thought to have complained about it to the production team, which meant they knew she had broken the rules.

Thats incredibly weak

Season 2 is up on challenge all stars on Paramount plus. Nothing eventful. Seems like they're trying to space out and get as many episodes as possible. No elimination episode 1

They taunt each other constantly but you can’t taunt about their sexuality?.

CT

Probably the most impressive individual performance in a team challenge in the history of the show. Single handed beat two other teams. Guy's 41 moving like that. He's gotten in a lot better shape too.

terrible choice by dude to pick Emanuel over Devin in that elimination. Devin has no cardio and he beats Devin in anything physical. No clue what dude was thinking.

The only I can think of was he thought it was a puzzle or mental challenge...

From the initial looks, I was thinking it was a puzzle where you need to disarm the missile by following a pattern of wires inside it or something.   No way any of them looked at that and immediately thought "Oh we are just going to run back and forth while jumping over this thing."

And the finals have to be individual, right?  They are 5-3-2 at this point, can't see how they would make it fair, although strength wise they might be pretty close right now.   Also, they have shown a bunch of people saying "I just want to be able to run a final with _____" seems like a bunch of foreshadowing to me.

Yeah I think finals are just girls and guys with no teams as everyone thinking that.  But finals usually have a lot of running so having 5 people may actually hurt if you have slow runner.

Was nice to see CT and Kaycee share the prize.  MTV better bring back Emy!  Nice find there.

Been watching All Stars from season 1 into season 2 on the side.  Kind of a train wreck with some of these oldies at times but other than that it's not too horrible.  Just enough competent people in the cast.  Some of them better be one and done in their returns.

And is CT pretty much just guaranteed to win these things year after year at this point?   Nobody even attempts to challenge him or cross him throughout the show in fear of losing, so he skates to the final.  And then he's gone through the whole competition without much wear and tear on his body that he's basically fresh for a final.   And he's 1 of 2 people on the show that are actually good at puzzles so even if he falls behind, he usually ends up making up time at that stage.

on johnnys podcast this was discussed saying the rookies had the numbers and it was discussed about picking off the vets but in the end they were too scared and unorganized.  I suspect next season people will wise up and target the heavy hitters early.  Whats the worst that could happen?

they get their heads smashed and eaten.

Well, as a woman, do you want to get rid of the guy who can win you money? On the flip side he’s good at puzzles and physical games so do you really want to face him in the elimination challenges? Same thing with getting him on your team. Kyle was an example of someone who’s decent at a lot. He went into elimination a few times and won them all. Hard to get rid of those type of guys.

I used to dislike him when he was a young hot headed ##### but now he’s a fun watch.

Exactly, you’re proving my point.  Guys fear him and women protect him. He’s basically guaranteed to be in the final without doing much of anything.

btw, Devin’s comment was great when they were watching the losing cells guys battle each other to continue…”can you imagine me strapped to CT’s back in this?”   :lmao:

Like a baby bjorn.

Also, I think CT realizes this and that’s why he doesn’t ever do much to have conflicts with others.

🤣🤣

CT dominates in puzzles......and at the head of the pack running/hiking (at 40-something). He's also gotten in a lot better shape. To do what he did in that balancing beam challenge (winning the thing for his team at his size and age) IMO was the most impressive thing I've seen on the challenge. Even moreso than his elimination of the Johnny Bananas backpack.

CT would be an idiot leaving when they're casting regularly the likes of Corey/Nelson/Fessy who are scared to go against him head to head in an elimination......and then have absolutely no shot against him in a final. It's just comedy watching those guys try to do any puzzles or really anything requiring them to use their head.

Been watching and enjoying All Stars Challenge.  Probably comes to an end next season with some of announced participants (which completely conflict with doing an All Stars cast to begin with IMO). They are people that belong on the regular challenge.....if they're going to be cast at all

I watched the one teaser episode of the All Star Challenge after the regular Challenge finale.   They should rename the All-Star version  "Ugly and Overweight Challenge"

Yeah there are out of shape people but they're also 40-50+ people. I enjoy them more personally than regular challenge. Less of the scripted fight nonsense and annoying constant yelling from Josh (who is a channel changer)

Yes, who won season 1 All Stars, would beat everyone in a final (CT included IMO).

Really?!  I mean good competitor I guess, but lord is she over the top annoying.

THIS IS FOR GRANDMA AND ROMANIAAAAAAA!!!! 😭
Yeah, she's a little annoying at times, but you can say that about most of the cast.  People like Josh and Ashley are over the top annoying to me.  I don't think Emy is near that stratosphere.

Great competitor.  Didn't start up #### with people that I remember.  Young and innocent....smarter than she was edited especially early on.  I bet her backstory is interesting too, but I only know what was said on the show.

Devin memorizing 20 digit code and typing it in after getting to bottom on first try was tops on my list.

That was insane to me.

Appreciate that sir!
I ordered Paramount Plus for the latest season.  Just finished up the episode where Beth came and quit  What a B and pathetic excuse for a contestant.  She quit both competitions she was in and started a false rumor of two contestants having an affair just to start drama.  Then as she’s leaving comments how she’ll be back better and stronger.  Lol, she’s never sniffing another invite back.embarrassing

i cant stand her.  Yet they keep bringing her back on.

Smart to rid of Jordan. He'd have smoked these guys in a final.

Still don't understand why Jordan/Kailah are on this show and not on main show where they belong. If they don't want to do main show, don't cast them

So I just got to the end of latest season with Derrick and Nehemiah pole wrestling…when does the next episode come out? I didn’t realize this was a weekly think and not a whole season release.
