My comments about Super Bowl XL (1 Viewer)

BGP

Indians Fever
I've waited a couple days to actually comment about the major topics stemming from Super Bowl XL. Its been interesting to hear and read everyone discuss this. Now, I'd like to share my point of view.

The NFL has never been about being fair. Sure, there are people who like to pretend everyone plays with honor, but the reality is its not true at all. We have guys like Bill Romanowski who uses steroids and wins three super bowls. Sure, some people whine but in the end he has three rings and that is all anyone is going to care about. I made the comment before about the Rams-Patriots super bowl, where in reality all the Patriots did was take cheap shots all day at the Rams' receivers and Faulk. In the end, no-one cares how underhanded that all was. In the end, all anyone cares about is that the Patriots won. In the end, it was the Rams' fault for not returning the favor and taking cheap shots at Brady.

The NFL has always been about the ends justifying the means. It doesn't matter how you win. It doesn't matter how many steroids your club does, how many cheap shots you take, how unfair the calls are. You know why it doesn't matter? Because in the end, the fans, the media, everyone will sweep it under the rug because when the clock hit triple-zeroes, you had more points than your opponent.

Surely, the Steelers should admit that the refs were the reason that they won Super Bowl XL. So should their fans. It IS unfair, and that is the way the NFL always has been.

Cowher has coached the Steelers for 14 years. He's been to the brink many, many times. Yet HE was always the one getting punked. HE was always the one never doing whatever it takes to WIN. And now there is Cowher, getting HIS unfair advantage and pressing it. It can be argued Cowher should have created his own unfair advantage a long, long time ago. He was too nice. It was too easy for him in the past to get punked and smile.

So get your grubby hands on those ill-gotten gains Cowher. Hold that trophy high. Let everyone else scramble to prostrate themselves at your feet. As he stood there smirking with his prize, I thought maybe he finally gets it, and I gained a little admiration for his willingness to be able to enjoy a win he knows he didn't earn fairly.

Now maybe you see why I have such high standards. Win at all costs. Because no matter how sinister or underhanded a win seems, in the end, everyone will not only give you glory for the dirty deed but anyone who does not will actually be called the classless ones! Now maybe Cowher understands what it takes to win.

And this translates to real life as well. We as Americans used every dirty trick we could to win independence. We used every dirty trick to take the land from the native americans. In the end, some whine, but the end justifies the means. No one will take america from us. No-one will take away rings from guys like Romanowski. No-one will do anything but praise you.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DO NOT EQUATE THIS IDIOT WITH BROWNS FANS. PLEASE.

It's amazing what the power of anonymity can do to people. BGP, it's a good thing people do not know where you live, seriously.

Why even attempt to disguise this as yet another one of your cowher bashing threads? LOL this is the funniest post ever!!!!

I've have been totally consistent on this. Heck, I was here when the Patriots beat the Rams in the super bowl. I said the same thing then that I'm saying now.

My guess is that you think a Sith Lord is hiding in the NFL front offices somewhere. Is that it?

So let me ask you this. Do you really beleive people don't cheat, do underhanded things, or gain or press unfair advantages in the NFL? Do you really think that is the case?

I've have been totally consistent on this. Heck, I was here when the Patriots beat the Rams in the super bowl. I said the same thing then that I'm saying now.
You've been consistently bashing the Steelers. Thats the only thing you've been consistent about. Don't be surprised when you receive this sort of reaction after you bash the team that just won the superbowl. The Steelers could have won 51-0 and it wouldn't suffice. You didn't give them credit for one single playoff win (not even the friggin Denver massacre). You honestly don't have any credibility on here (even amongst Browns fans as you can see).

If this is gonna be the new Cowher I'm not gonna bash him at all.

Would you consider Chris Hope selling the waivering official on OPI in the end zone to be cheating, or is it part of the theater of the game? Doesn't that happen like on nearly EVERY pass in EVERY game this year?

So how exactly did Cowher cheat in this game? Even if these calls by the refs are controversial, Cowher had no influence over that. Thus, you should continue hating him because he hasn't changed.

BGP, you made some good points, but the anti-Pittsburgh venom you have spewed over time has prevented almost everyone from viewing your opinion as objective analysis.

Why not just admit you have some secret "man-love" for Mr. Bill. Or maybe some "championship envy",being a Brown's fan and all.

No I think he pressed an unfair advantage and in the way he accepted the accolades and the trophy I think he utterly enjoyed it. That's good. He's hungier now.

I'm having a hard time following BGPs argument. People sometimes cheat.

Therefore the Steelers should admit the won because of the refs.

Because we do that in real life with the Indians.

BGP help me here. What do you want to say?

So everything is fixed and predetermined, huh? If that's the case, you guys in Cleveland better take up a collection so you can bribe your way into a playoff game or two.

Actually without even reading his other posts, these points honestly weren't good at all. I'm still trying to figure out why he singled out Cowher in this post. Cowher isn't the one that did anything it took to win. The controversy here is over referees calls, not the Steelers cheating. This thread has no use at all other than to serve as a huge :fishing: trip. It obviously worked on me lol.

No, I'm not bashing Cowher here.
grubby hands
What's wrong with grubby hands? Like I say, to be a champ, you gotta get your hands dirty. Just adds character.
In that case no one on the Browns will ever have grubby hands.
I've been a big defender of Butch Davis. I thought he was willing to do everything it takes to win. But things didn't work out and he's gone. I'm not sold on Crennel.

No, I didn't say everything was fixed. I said people cheat to win and press unfair advantages all the time and no-one cares.

Oh OK I guess most coaches in the NFL would give the trophy back to the NFL in that same situation? Not following your point lol.

I dunno, the way Cowher has acted so happy to get his butt kicked every year, I thought he might be pretty upset at winning.

If he was truly upset after failing to get it done every year for 14 years, I'm sure he would have either quit in frustration or something would have hit the fan by now.

Gee here's an idea. Maybe the coach of an NFL team doesn't listen to the fans and the media. Maybe the coach of an NFL team actually believes that his team deserved to be there and win the game. Maybe he shouldn't have to discount anything because he feels that it truly was a great accomplishment. Maybe just maybe.........

If they weren't the Browns archrival, I'd have to consider rooting for Pittsburgh now.

LOL or maybe he just has more drive and passion than you would in a similar situation? OK I'm done with the fishing expedition but please keep posting for my entertainment. Good day.

BGP- Where were you with this commentary after the Steelers/Colts game? You sound like Al Gore in 2000. Sour grapes. The Steelers won the Super Bowl by beating the top 3 teams in the AFC on the road and then the NFC's top team by 11 points. You may not like it or agree with how it happened but it is now history. Whether you care to acknowledge it or not the Steelers have completed the greatest playoff run in the history of the NFL, perhaps pro sports.

I'm not whining at all. I think Belichick gets it - he knows you need to do whatever it takes to win. I think Cowher may be coming around as well.

You are truly an inspiration to mentally challenged people everywhere. Keep fighting the good fight.

So how exactly did Cowher cheat in this game? Even if these calls by the refs are controversial, Cowher had no influence over that. Thus, you should continue hating him because he hasn't changed.
No I think he pressed an unfair advantage and in the way he accepted the accolades and the trophy I think he utterly enjoyed it. That's good. He's hungier now.
Oh OK I guess most coaches in the NFL would give the trophy back to the NFL in that same situation? Not following your point lol.
I dunno, the way Cowher has acted so happy to get his butt kicked every year, I thought he might be pretty upset at winning.
 Wow is there any point in even trying to make sense with what you write?
You're kidding right?

Why not just admit you have some secret "man-love" for Mr. Bill. Or maybe some "championship envy",being a Brown's fan and all.
Whoa, c'mon now. The Browns have 4 NFL Championships. And no, I do not apologize for hijacking this poor excuse of a thread.

The "Browns" moved to Baltimore and became the "Ravens". An expansion team moved into Cleveland and took the "Browns" name,in the same way the Washington Senators left and became the Minnesota Twins,an expansion team came into Washington and took the Senators name, they then ALSO left and became the Texas Rangers. The "Browns" championships are in Baltimore, with MR.Modell. :banned: .....and this thread DESERVES to be hijacked!
