Saw this the other day in a 12Team / PPR / TE bonus league (with devys) and I'm curious about thoughts on this....

It looks like a bad trade for the guy losing Reed, to me. In my TE bonus league, Reed scored 15+ PPG last season; on par with Eddie Lacy, LeVeon Bell, Vincent Jackson, Keenan Allen, etc. In a devy diluted pool--Reed is worth much more than picks 12 and 16.

I'm a big supporter of Watkins, but c'mon.

Agreed. Take out Jordy or the 1.11 and you can at least justify doing it.

Take out Jordy AND 1.11 and it makes more sense.

Even at that: giving up a future and likely very good RB (granted some risk yet), probable big time WR as soon as THIS year, and two more first round picks.

If THAT wasn't good enough ... you can have 1.01.

Cassel may make more of Patterson this year, granted. He showed value with Cassel at the helm and may have more pending new QB in two years time.

But that seems steep for a guy who has shown "flashes" and mostly on special teams. Bell and DJax will put up numbers now and for a few years. Patterson is a long term bet ...

I can see the logic in it if you're a Bell skeptic and a Patterson believer. Cash out a fraud (Bell) and an aging FF WR2-WR3 (Jackson) for a guy you think is a more legitimate long term talent. I hate Vereen, but most would say he's a significant piece too.

Not saying I love the trade, but it's one that could work out depending on how the careers of those two sophomores develop.

I think it is too but QB's are always tough to get good value on. The team trading Rodgers also had Cam and, for the most part, QB's are spread out pretty evenly so getting much more would have been tough.

What other WR brings this (0:58, 1:15, 1:34) to the table? Especially at 6'3.

I really liked Patterson as a prospect, and owned him in close to half of my leagues because of it. I do think he can do things that very few can, especially at his size.

And you're right: He's damn raw. As a owner, I was really looking for signs that he could be a complete WR and I didn't see them. In fact, it was really awkward to watch Minny force him the ball toward the end of the season. I think he can be a bigger, poor man's version of Percy Harvin. At best, he'll be less physical, more elusive version of a healthy Miles Austin (who was a top 5 dynasty WR at one point); but that's best case, imo.

I do think he can improve, but I don't think the improvement is likely to take him from an awkward, unpolished WR to a polished one. A lot of people assumed Denarius Moore just needed some polish--but it never came. There are countless examlpes of players who just needed some polish, but never developed it. It's hard to learn on the job at this level, to the degree that Patterson would need to.

I know the highlights are awesome. Devin Hester was the most exciting player in the league for a strech...but if you can't beat NFL corners, it can only take you so far.

I think we're looking at a potential 70/1,000/5-7 with 200/2-3 on the ground. That's great and nothing to sneeze at. But it's not a potential worthy of his current price tag.

Did Gordon develop as a technical route runner? Or was he just fed the ball and dominated physically? Let's not pretend he has to turn into Jerry Rice. Really I think the threshold is low for Patterson. He can't look lost, but he won't be expected to run lots of routes.

Gordon is well ahead of Patterson, in terms of technique, and has been every step of the way. It's not just that Patterson isn't Jerry Rice--it's that he's not an NFL caliber WR, technically. Even his 9 routes looked awkward. That's bad.
