*Official 1st Day Draft Thread -Round 1 - Round 3* (2 Viewers)

I was unaware Carey had played 4 spots along the line. At 6'4" 335, he is bigger than Todd Wade at the RT spot, and St Crap can play inside at RG - James at LG (gotta put the best OL at the A-Gap) and the phins actually succeeded in rebuilding their starting OL.Very thin, though - one injury to a starter - like Dixon last year - and Ricky won't have any running room.

that sucks...Miami could have made a deal to move down so someone could grab Jackson in front of Dallas.Vikings probably would have grabbed Udezi anyway.bad move.
Very bad move.

Tommy Kramer, gotta like this pick...he was double or tripled teamed most of the times and played with a bad shoulder plus a lot on the LDE so I'm happy with this pick. Wonder if the Vikes will trade up with their two back-to-back picks in the 4th for something in the 3rd?

Not really - they were talking that the Vikes had Carey rated higher than Andrews. The phins could not afford to lose on a top OL in this draft. I think they actually got the 2nd best OLineman in the draft, too, but I'd have been psyched for Andrews just as much.Wow, Wilfork is now the best value on the board.

Very bad move.
I don't mind it. They absolutely had to get Carey there to shore up the offensive line that was looking very shaky. He will make the offense much better. If they had to blow a 4th round pick to get him, I say 'Good Move'

Gamble should slide all the way into the 2nd round from what I've heard of late. Look for Wilfork or trade down.Wonder if Baltimore wants to trade their 2005 #1 for something now??

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to get Carey and even would have been hapy at #20. But to lose a pick is bull####.Even I managed to get a 2nd rounder (for a 3rd) and pick up Carey in the first GRID mock. :)

How about the Patriots taking a Stephen Jackson like the Saints took Deuce McAllister a couple of years back?Dillon isn't a spring chicken anymore...

they could have risked Minny grabbing him and still maybe get Smiley and another pick.Oh well...welcome to Miami Vernon!

And smart thinking by the Vikes to hold them hostage and score a free 4th-rounder.Partial hijack, the same thing happened to me in my fantasy baseball draft this year. I waited on 1B way longer than anyone, and a guy in our league recognized what I was doing, with only one decent 1B left on the board (Konerko), he skunked me and I had to deal with him to get my guy. Fortunately, he was reasonable and I didn't have to give up much.

Agreed very smart move by the Vikes.

I thought the same thing, but I'd imagine they plug D-line with Big Ted gone. They did win a SB with Faulk and Ant-Smith, after all...

Very bad move.
:coughcough:SOUR GRAPES:coughcough:I don't think it is a "very" bad move, but I do think they reached a bit. The team has been kind of running scared for a while this off season - jumped the gun with next year's 2nd for Feely when tons of able QBs were JUST about to come free and then trading up one spot for fear of the Viking taking their guy.I'm sure the trade in the works for Feely was the primary thing that caused Marino to re-retire after only 9 days.

Great comments Marc...Agree completely!

 B.B. doing it to spite Parcells wouldn't surprise me at all!

If he keeps dropping he won't be considered a bust, but you may be right and he won't be good in the NFL.
If he busts in the NFL, any selection in the first three rounds is wasted, right?I think they'll start calling him "Screen" - WRs will be brushing by him at the line like he was a screen door.

ESPN's speculating that NE might hold Dallas hostage for S. Jackson.Big Tuna vs. Big Hooded Sweatshirt

If the Pats took Gamble over Wilfork, I'd have lost all respect for BB's ability to evaluate talent.

I think with the Patriots, we are seeing the dynasty of this era... They continue to make great choice after great choice after great choice :wall:

Yep, smart move for the Pats.ESPN radio was reporting the reason he dropped was concerns that he might not be able to control his weight.
Even as a tub of goo, getting off the line fast at NG, he'll be a Sapp like player for the Pats.He kept the weight down in college, he'll do the same by the end of training camp for the Pats.

Thanks Ravens.I hope you cough on Boller!  Who's he throwing to anyway?Look what you could have had.

No sour grapes here. No need to draft a G in the first round. Problably just gave the homeboys the Capella jinx.

Well, they certainly have a shot, but so many things have to happen to win back-to-back titles. They are putting themselves in that positon though, to make themselves one.
