Dang, sounds like -1 already with Amendola.
Yep that is a big blow already
Is he out for the year? Here is a breakdown of Amendola ownership:

Pos RostersWR-1 4WR-2 26WR-3 210WR-4 939WR-5 983WR-6 342WR-7 60WR-8 11WR-11 1
Still not looking great - from nfl.com:UPDATE: It turns out Amendola’s injury was serious, but it’s an elbow injury. The Rams announced Amendola suffered a dislocated left elbow and he won’t return to the game. His season could be in jeopardy.
Yeah I had Amendola as well... A dislocated elbow can vary in the time it takes to heal depending on the severity. Pessimistically, it looks like 6-12 weeks of rehabbing according to a Sport Science Orthopedic Clinic. So possibly as little as 4 games but as many 12. Any word on what was Bradford's injury?
Just to update from last night ESPN is stating that Amendola is out 8-10 weeks. Now I just need my other 7 WRs to step up.

Also Nate Kaeding is out for the year.
405 Keading owners. 75 also own Amendola.

At this point, I am at 146.5 pts for week 1 with:

Brady (-22.3)

Bush (-15.0)

Moore (-11.0)

Hernandez (-13.8)

-also, each of these are at (-8.9) for my flex spot

Prater (-13.0)

Broncos D (-12.0)

Very flat production this week with every position but my flex currently in double digits, but only my QB (McCoy) over 20. I expect either Bush or Hernandez to beat my current flex and Brady to outscore McCoy...still nothing to write home about yet. Top non-QB was Mike Wallace with 18.7.

For you database junkies, is there a link on FBG somewhere to download all team's rosters? Also, what type of database program are you running?

Since I am new subscriber this year what is the convention with the negative sign point values? Are you saying that you are at a projected 146.5 pts for the week if you include the FBG projected pts (the negative values) for the week of each of those players? Thanks in advance for the clarification.

If I totaled this up correctly, I'm at 158.25 for the week, with Reggie Bush (-17.20) and Denarius Moore (-13.00) left to play tonight. Lance Moore and Danny Amendola are my WRs 4 and 5 though. Not sure what Moore's status is at this point, but it sucks losing Amendola. I was banking on my group of mid-tier guys to provide a bit of a floor for PPR production at the WR position. Hopefully Moore will see the field soon, and Amendola can come back in time to help me in the final 250. :)

This means how many points the player would have to score to break into the starting lineup. For example, McCoy scored 22.3 points, and you only start 1 QB. So in order for Brady's points to count, he would need to outscore McCoy. And then only Brady's points in excess of 22.3 would add to your total (since the first 22.3 are already being accounted for in the total).

For you database junkies, is there a link on FBG somewhere to download all team's rosters?
No.
So might I ask how you rapidly download all rosters into your database?
I'm sure OC and others out there have much more elegant solutions than I do. Not actually being a database/programming/computery wizard myself, I just import them into Excel, where I can format them into tables as needed and then import them into Access. I don't have the expertise to do it any other way. I wouldn't necessarily refer to this process as "rapid," although I learned from a lot of the mistakes I made last year so this year I was able to get it done much more quickly.ETA: I literally learned just about everything I know about databases from doing this last season. I really had very little idea what I was doing this time last year. So despite not making the money, I have definitely benefitted from participating in this contest. :)

So... you click on each one of the 10000+ entries one by one and do this??

Aw I got it. Thanks for the clarification Iggy.

No, I wrote (well, really, recorded and modified) a macro in Excel to do it for me.

Two years ago when I last pulled the rosters in, I used an addon for firefox to download the team pages, it was tedious and crashed a lot.I used some common web techniques this year to grab each of the rosters and save them where I could parse each one via another script and extract what I want to save it in a MySQL db.

BTW, doing the stats to points myself today, I ran into an oddity with Colt McCoy.

The stats show he had a reception for -5 yards (I'm assuming it was a batted pass back to him). Are QB's given any points for receptions? I assumed no, but thought maybe they would get .5 since technically they are part of the backfield. Just curious if anyone knows how those are scored.

I'm currently at 160.85 with a ton of guys to go: Brady(-32.25), McFadden and Reggie Bush (-18.2 and/or 17.2), D. Moore ((-11.5), Hernandez (-11) and the Oakland D (-13). Any of the flex-eligibles can also contribute by going over 11 pts. More importantly, no Amendola, no Kaeding and no other serious injuries. :scared:

Are QB's given any points for receptions?
The rules are pretty explicit: Receptions for RB = 0.5 pointsReceptions for WR = 1.0 pointsReceptions for TE = 1.5 pointsDoesn't say anything about receptions for QB, so I'm going to assume they do not.
If he did catch his own batted pass for -5 yards, then it should be -0.25 pts for the passing yards and another -0.5 pts for the reception yards.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, as I understand macros well, but, don't you still have to click on each team at least once to get the data into Excel, where you can then use the macros to manipulate the data as needed?

No, I wrote a for loop in the macro to cycle through all 10,000+ rosters and import them all into Excel, e.g.:
Code:
For i = 100001 to 110776<Some code here to import from (url="[URL="http://subscribers.footballguys.com/whatever/blahblahblah/"]http://subscribers.footballguys.com/whatever/blahblahblah/"[/URL] & i & ".php")>Next

Did the renaming of teams this year, (i.e. not all teams are number based anymore), cause you any problems with this line of code?Nevermind, I see each team still has a number in the html address.

No - thankfully the URL for each entry still uses the 6-digit ID, not the nickname. If it had used the nickname, though, it could still be done, it would just take a little more work to map the numbers to the nicknames, or pull the nicknames sequentially from a worksheet, or something like that. Actually, the first table I created, before I even started pulling the rosters, was a mapping of 6-digit IDs to nicknames, even though I don't really have any use for the nicknames whatsoever (and I think people can still change them, so my table is already out of date).

If you're interested, it really was rewarding to figure out how to get all this info. Like I said earlier, I wanted to be able to dig deeper into the contest data than Doug's querier would allow, but I had no idea at first how to do it. It's worth trying if you have some time to kill and want to either learn some new skills or polish up some existing skills. But I'm kind of a :nerd: like that. Plus, now I know how to do pointless stuff like this.

Rolling up my sleeves now and digging. I love this stuff too. Need to learn more.

I'm sure his total passing yards reflected this. I was just wondering about the reception points.

I found this on Yahoo Sports Play-by-Play:1st-10, CLE20 15:00 C. McCoy passed to C. McCoy to the right for 5 yard lossFirst play of the game?McCoy had 213 yards passing, which would have been 218 without this playI wonder what his QB rating was after this first throw?

So they are saying maybe Amendola will be back by around week 6. I will take that, when I first saw the injury I thought he was done for the year. If Fitz/VJax/Dez can't carry the load for the first 6 weeks in this contest my team is in trouble anyways

Another approach for those so inspired is to do what I did: parse http://subscribers.footballguys.com/contest/2011/week-1.php which gives you all the URL's.I wrote a script to download and import each url - more or less what Ignoratio did. (And the nicknames are also listed in the link, so that helps with the nickname renaming.)

I'm using SQL Server Express as the DB engine.

I think I'm going to drop him and pickup Nelson.

Will you have enough cap room? I expect Nelson will be more expensive than Amendola when the week 2 price list comes out.

Could you tell me my score so far? Just curious how I am doing?

Can someone remind me why I had Wes Welker on my team the entire time, until I decided to change it at the last moment?

So...ummm...I'm thinking I really like my Brady/Stafford combo at QB. Though, I might not get to use many of Stafford's 30+ point games if Brady keeps this up all season...

I'm pretty sure I read a comment or two that you made about absolutely loving Colston because you thought his injuries were behind him...?

You OBVIOUSLY underestimate me. I just may end up ranked 12,001 out of 10,180 players.

Do you mean I'm going to have to go through another 850+ iterations?
