I am still alive. This might be the furthest I've made it in this contest. I usually just pick a team off of the top of my head after the 3rd week of the preseason and let it roll, don't pay much attention to it. I have Chris Cooley on my team because I did it before he got cut. Lol, and now he's back. My team is actually doing pretty well so far:

This contest is a lot of fun, but getting knocked out always stings for s few weeks. It is very easy format for second guessing. Here's to next year.

The worst part is that some years, I know my team is dead man walking, because I guessed wrong on players or something. This year I still really like my team. I missed the cut this week by about 8 points, and it was combination of (1) a couple of key players on bye, (2) a couple of key players injured, and (3) everyone else on my roster having basically their worst game of the season. I mean, Ray Rice had been averaging 21 points a game; this week he scored 10. Just a perfect storm of things going wrong for me this week. I can take solace in the fact that all the entries I submitted prior to my final entry also would have been eliminated this week (if they wouldn't have already been eliminated earlier in the year), so I don't have to second-guess any decisions I made at the last minute. A couple of my friends are still alive in the contest so I'll be rooting for them now, as well as the remaining thread regulars.

Sick week for me: made the cutline by 0.35 with:

QB: Peyton on a bye, and John Skelton scoring for me at 17.1 (his 0.35 edge over Bradford was difference)

RB: Charles on a bye and Benson hurt, BJGE had his second worst game of the season (6.9) and Ridley (6.5) had one of his worst too

TE: Tamme on a bye, Rudolph got a zero, and Kendricks had his worst game of the year (3.5)

PK: Prater on a bye, Bironas had a dud (5), and Gould's blocked FG in the first half haunted me all night (8)

D: Dolphins on a bye, Seahawks Thursday night snoozy 4 points held up over the Saints 1

WR: Reggie Wayne has his worst game of the year (13.3), Andre Roberts scores late (23.3), Brandon Marshall has an average game (20.1), but the kid Ryan Broyles comes out of nowhere to make his first NFL catch, his first NFL touchdown, and just barely eek me over the line.

I had a similar scare last year with Jimmy Graham going off on a Monday night on the way to 48th overall. Hopefully this one is out of the way and it will be smooth sailing from here...

Not just yet, still have to do the autopsy on this year's entry.I think the little scramble at the end by Broyles and Titus makes it a little worse. The funny thing is if one of them hogs the stats that they combined for I probably would've made it.A couple regrets, but not many, but that's for another post. Congrats to those advancing. Week 8 preview:

QB - Survived a zero here last week, but Vick is back off the bye. Locker should be back week 9.

RB - Fred Jackson has revived this group to respectable levels after Benson's injury, however with his bye, I will be relying on either Wilson or Taiwan Jones as an RB2. Could be a zero there. :X

WR - Only have Torrey Smith on a bye and Amendola still hurt, but the foundation of my team should be fine with Marshall, Harvin, Wayne, Cobb, Blackmon & Wright.

TE - Nice to have two viable options in Pettigrew & Gates. Could see my first flex contribution from the TE spot this week.

PK - All three active, so here's to some 50yd FG's

TD - My #1 contributor, the Bills are on a bye so either the Seahawks or Chiefs need to do....something.

He built his team for survival, but not to win it all. If the goal was simply to make it to the final 250, that is the way to go. No injury or bye week is going to cost him anything with that lineup. It is hard to break 200 with a team like that (unless McCoy or Rice have a huge game), but should consistently be around 160-190.

Not that he ever does anything, but I'm one of only 38 remaining entries with the Finley/Rodgers combination. I'm expecting several of those (hopefully not my own) to go down week 10 on GB's late bye.

If I can make it through to the top 250 on the backs of Wayne, Julio, CJohnson, Lynch then I think that GB combo gives me a little bit of upside to make a run.

Wow.. I thought Broyles was dead weight on my roster, now he just might save me during some tough bye weeks coming up.

My team's been interesting to follow.

- made the cut in week 4 by matching the cutoff exactly.

- Went with the stud TE theory and took Graham and Hernandez. Graham came through for me when Hernandez got hurt, and the same week he comes back, Graham gets hurt. Like that timing.

- Hakeem Nicks comes back from injury the same week Amendola goes down, saves my week.

Among players that were on 1000+ rosters coming into week 7, these are two of the four lowest survival rates (the other two are Julio Jones at 71.1% and Matt Ryan at 74.1%).
