***Official 2012 MLB Regular Season Thread (4 Viewers)

I feel like MLB Network is just about the only network that is consistently showing anything worthwhile for baseball. They carry random games FOX and ESPN would scoff at all the time.
:goodposting: I love this station, I just turn it on as background noise when I get home each night and just leave it on until I go to bed.

No Sunday Night Baseball tonight. Rain everywhere. Fantastic.
It didn't bother me too much. I'm sick of watching the Yankees and Red Sox all the ### #### time anyway.Hey, Fox and ESPN, there are 28 other teams in the big leagues ya know.
Ratings.Personally, I enjoyed that Saturday afternoon tilt with a perfect game thrown in the middle.
It was a great game. I'm not arguing that.I understand why they do it. That doesn't make it any less obnoxious. There are some really great ballparks and some really great young players out there that rarely get any recognition because these two teams dominate national telecasts. I just find it annoying.

You forgot MLB network......must be owned by YES
Really? I feel like MLB Network is just about the only network that is consistently showing anything worthwhile for baseball. They carry random games FOX and ESPN would scoff at all the time.
It's been fine since the regular season started......but I couldn't turn on the friggen channel during the pre-season without catching a Yankee game. Pretty sure my wife is getting sick of this channel

I'm actually pissed when they show games. That's how much I enjoy the studio show and the live updates of games.

So should we officially be nervous about Pujols or still too small of a sample size?
Every year, I tell myself to keep Pujols on the bench for the first month and every year I don't. So every year I wind up at the bottom of the standings for the first month and every year I climb back up the standing once he takes off. Maybe I am mistaken but it seems he is a notorious slow starter and then once he gets hot, look out.
Yes, you're wrong.

I was going back and forth on the MLB Extra Innings and decided MLB audio with MLBN in the background is plenty.

Longest losing streak?Worst season record?
I think both of these are not out of the question.
No, they will probably play around .500 ball from here on out. Their issue is that while they have a lot of young talent, they don't have the pitching to match. Young talent will be prone to slumps as they adjust to the big league game and their is no pitching to hide the slumps. The Royals fans got a little to giddy in thinking this is the year - they are still a full two years away...and that is assuming they retain these young guys and bring in some veteran pitchers to stabilize the pitching staff. ETA - losing Sal Perez and Soria was devastating. Losing Cain didn't help matters. They are suffering from injuries coupled with a very young ball club.

I'd say both of them are. They're not that bad of a team. They're not going to lose 23 in a row. And they'll end up better than the worst record ever (.130win% 1899 Cleveland Spiders) and the worst record recently (.265 2003 Detroit Tigers).
Yup. I'd happily offer 10 to 1 that they don't get within 5 games of either record. Hell, I'd happily offer even money that they finish with less than 100 losses.

SI.com had the Royals 7th in their power rankings yesterday. They should've just led the article with "you'll never read this crap again."

Carl Crawford getting his elbow checked out too. Rumors going around he'll be shelved for the year too.

Good times for the anti-Sox and Yankee crowds.

Those rankings are based off of the aggregate WAR of all players thus far. More useful to me than just the current standings with a blurb on each team.

Don't disagree, but they've lost 11 games in a row. The whole thing just screams "hey read our rankings! We're different!"

While they were ranked 7th, they were pretty close to 15th by the numbers. Just happens to be that they've sucked in the clutch/been unlucky so far. You'd expect a team that has played as they have to be right around .500.

How come Ozzie Canseco sucked?

I can see not having the exact same skill set as your identical twin, but to be THAT much worse? They both juiced.

I can't believe somebody took the time to create a fake Ozzie Canseco twitter. Who would even know the difference?

Helton with a pinch hit grand slam in the 8th with 2 outs and the Mets waste yet another solid effort from Johan Santana...it's unreal how unlucky Johan has been in the W column

Jesus Christ, nice base-running Rays, you ####### idiots.

ETA Upton goes from second all the way to third on a double to deep right.

Not to be out-done, Scott goes from second...to second. On a ball against the wall in right.

WHAT? I don't play fantasy baseball, Captain Butt####. I was just commenting on a couple of professional baseball players that made beer league softball player mistakes, back-to-back. Sorry, I shouldn't have posted this in the, "Don't talk #### about our Tampa Bay -Devil Rays thread". All that matter is RAYZ WON #### YEAH!!!1!1!

The Rays are an extremely aggressive base running team by design. That will occasionally lead to some dumb plays. It happens.
