I would bet on Cuetos ERA being lower than any 1 of those guys in 2014 with possible exception of Kershaw because that's pretty much what he always does :shrugs:

It's fine if you and lots of Yankee fans value the Yankees' "legacy," but it seems a little weird to criticize a player for not valuing it exactly the same way you do. He's not a lifelong NY resident and baseball fan who gets misty-eyed strolling through Monument Park and thinking about his dad and his childhood and all that stuff. This is his job, the park is his office. And there are plenty of reasons to prefer playing for the Mariners to playing for the Yankees.Yes, legacy. Frankly the Yankee fans who criticize his choice of money over winning or legacy or playoff games sound a lot like the Phillies fans who criticized Jayson Werth four years ago. Turns out maybe Werth also knew something about the directions the respective franchises were heading; perhaps Cano does too.
Also I meant that Jeter is currently the vastly inferior player (I don't think he'd announced his retirement when Cano signed with Seattle). And you could certainly make the argument that Cano has been the much player during the time that the two shared the field.

With Werth? I think all factors play a role. I mean I assume if the Phillies had matched the Nats he would have stayed because he clearly liked Philly. But I also think it's possible that if say the Marlins had beaten the Nats' bid by a couple bucks he would have chosen the Nats anyway, if he valued pennant races and where the organization is heading and whatnot. I have no real idea what he valued, but my point is that you can't just assume the future based on the past. Things change. It's entirely possible that the Mariners return to the playoffs or even win a World Series before the Yankees. No one's making any decisions based on anything but $$$. Players (and the union) dont care about "legacy" and they arent trying to predict which way a franchise is heading. You are very much omitting Chris Sale and Darvish is top three IMO. I wouldn't drop Verlander out of that top group either, he's just in a transition phase of trying to manage games better. Anyone questioning his continued talent should have watched him yesterday with two on and one out, he fanned the next two guys in seven pitches.
Guys who are climbing are Estrada, Wacha, Cobb, Cashner and Richards. Ross and Strasburg are off to tough starts, but they have great stuff and should improve.
Over the past three years Kershaw, Verlander, Lee, Shields, Weaver, Bumgarner, Price, Felix, Hamels, and Scherzer are the top ten fantasy starters (Excluding Fernandez). Of those guys only Weaver seems to have regressed so far that he is no longer in the conversation as a top ten guy, Shields is tragically underrated.

The Dodgers are calling up RHP Red Patterson to start the second game of today's DH at Minnesota. Unless I missed someone the long Baseball-Reference list of Reds, Patterson is the first major leaguer to have "Red" as his primary name since Red Schoendienst retired in 1963.
Red used to be a really common nickname; there are three Hall of Famers (Schoendienst, Faber, Ruffing) who went by it. I doubt Patterson will join them but it's the most interesting factoid I have for a short slate of games today.

I drafted Dickerson also, but I got Blackmon as an FA as well. I think blackmon just started fast, and that's that.

Dickerson has the arm of a 12 year old girl. He doesn't have the range to hold up in Center either, but the idea is that he's less of a liability there flanked by CarGo and Blackmon than his inability to make throws from Right makes him from that spot.
When CarGo left the game last night Corey went to Left, Blackmon to Center, and Barnes to right.

As of last year, they only do it when they are playing at another team with red as a primary color, such as the Reds. Prior to that, the navy blue hat was the primary road hat. I agree with you and I think they have it right with the current set up.
