**Official 2014 MLB Regular Season-All over but the shouting (1 Viewer)

Great crowds in Montreal for Jays/Mets. Time to move a Florida team there...
Yea it worked out so well the first time.
 Their attendance numbers from the time they moved into Olympic Stadium in 1977, until Jeffrey Loria destroyed them in 1998 are better than either Florida team in the past 20 years.

It's obviously not going to happen in the near future, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a team in Montreal within 10-15 years.

The Rays tv numbers are huge for the market. In the top third of MLB IIRC. Eventually the team will move to Tampa and the attendance will pick up. It literally could not be in a worse area, but that's been covered ad nauseum.

The Rays came out at the bottom of the Forbes' valuations again this year. I don't know how far I'd trust their exact numbers but the overall rankings pass the sniff test.

With all the money in the game today, Selig's successor if he ever steps down will have to eventually address expansion. It's kind of chicken and egg situation regarding stadium construction. Nobody is going to build a new baseball stadium nowadays without a guarantee of a franchise. I know St. Petersburg built the dome before the Rays came but the Trop isn't a good example of anything.

Of course they came out in the bottom. Stadium situation is a disaster and they can't expect a new tv deal until 2016. They signed this present one a year or so before all the big deals shot up.

Chris Owings named DBacks starting SS and Gregorius sent down. Whats the story with Owings? I know nothing about him except he hit like 330 or something in AAA according to rotoworld.

Probably a decent option for a backup SS, but don't take PCL stats too seriously.

Am I missing something on Andrew Cashner? I went into this year thinking he was someone to target, that he was someone who could be a Top Ten pitcher, yet in two drafts guys like Sonny Gray, Michael Wacha, Danny Salazar, and Dan Straily went ahead of him.

I looked over several other drafts, and saw just about the same thing. I am very surprised. I know he has an injury history, but a lot of players do. Players like Wacha and Salazar don't have much of a track record, and that concerns me more than Cashner.

id draft all those guys over him except straily. He throws hard but doesnt strike anyone out. Also wins will be tough to come by. Plus he has a lengthy injury history

I have Gray above him, Wacha in the same tier but higher, Salazar and Straily a notch lower. How my drafts fell I ended up having enough pitching by the time I got to him so I passed and added two of Ross, Kluber, Straily, and Lackey a little later.Potential is still there, production just hasn't matched yet.

Since they are facing a RHP, Konerko won't start on opening day for the first time since 1999.

If Abreu can hold his own, both on the field and at the plate, this looks like it's possibly a straight up platoon in the DH slot for the entire season.

Konerko killed LHP last year (.923OPS) and Dunn can still somewhat hold his own vs RHP (2013: .786 OPS / 2012: .817)

Something you daily league folks might find useful

Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 1hWhite Sox don't face a lefty starter until Saturday in KC, but I'm told Paul Konerko will get a start against a righty before that.
