Wait, you're serious about Montreal getting another team?
Yes. (Not anytime soon).Wait, you're serious about Montreal getting another team?
The Giants' designated replay adviser is Shawon Dunston. His enthusiasm made him one of my favorite visiting players to watch when he played for the Cubs. But he was never much of a percentage ballplayer: he swung hard at everything and never met a defensive play that he didn't think he could make. I realize people change after they stop playing but he's kind of an odd choice for this role.Bruce Bochy uses his challenge on a pick-off play, lost, then two plays later Giants nail a guy at the plate and he was called safe. Managers will likely become more selective in their challenges I think, each are learning the nuances as we go.
20/50 this season. The Rockies have 6 outfielders currently on their ML roster.
2 out of the four platoon candidates hit left-handed.
So in game number 2, against a RHP, Walt Weiss starts in CF right-handed batting Drew Stubbs.
Owner of a .228/.296/.356 career split against righties.
And he hit lead-off.
Yup. Same old David.Oof, David Freese.
First he's hacking away at a pitcher with no control, hitting into what should have been a easy double-play, but a bad throw by Cano saves him.
Then he promptly gets picked off.
Capacity for that place used to be like 45k. They tarped some of it off and then took a bunch of seats out this winter to build a CF hangout spot/walkway.What's up with 31K for the home opener for being a sellout? Are those tarped off sections never sold? Should be a higher capacity for that stadium, no?Super. They're still not going anywhere. Also, pretty dumb comparison. Montreal hasn't had a game in 10 years and who knows when they'll get another. Of course those 2 games would be hot tickets.Attendance in exhibition game 1 in Montreal: 46,121 (there were over 50, 000 in game 2). Combined attendance in Rays first two games: 42,155.Great crowds in Montreal for Jays/Mets. Time to move a Florida team there...
Hated this btw, but big part of reason was they happened to do it on a year that was Good Friday. The Reds had to fight to have their OD moved to Thursday. Beyond that, I just prefer not working on Mondays for the long weekend aspect over taking off a random Thursday midweek. They did this a couple years ago (might have been a Thursday night game then games Fri-Sun). It was pretty awesome.Like I said earlier. Opening night on Friday. Games all day on the weekend.Don't let this get in the way of Cappy dogging MLB. He's got it all figured out and everyone involved is just trying to catch up.Eephus said:They scheduled open dates so they can makeup opening day if necessary. Regular daytime games are dicey in most markets until schools let out.

Ironically, he should be happy to be compared to Scott Brosius the rest of his career. At least offensively, anyway.I went cross eyed when I saw Stubbs was starting. I wasn't starting Dickerson anyway, but...cmon man.Arsenal of Doom said:The Rockies have 6 outfielders currently on their ML roster.

Is there a place or point where you could admit that maybe Tampa baseball isn't feasible based on a following? Do you think its still growing? This is a successful team thats been to the world series and they are claiming 31K is a sellout?Premier said:Capacity for that place used to be like 45k. Yes. But the team isn't in Tampa. Which is the whole problem. Which you know, because I've told you this 75 times on this board alone. I know this doesn't alleviate much of the traffic concern, but somewhere east of town on I-4 could be good for drawing fans, tourists, etc. from the Orlando area.Tampa, by the hockey arena most likely.so what site do you see being optimal and feasible? Never bench your studsHoly Moses! Glad i started Dozier/Kris Davis, they're like 0-15 with 17 k's somehow.

Yeah, not sure I've ever seen that before.Cubs just pulled off the ole 7-2-3 double play (outfield was pulled in).
Tanaka with the posting fee was 7/175. Not surprising Scherzer passed on 6/144.So....just how much will Scherzer get from the Yankees next year?
