Solid reporting here. That's the kind of stuff that makes me hate Twitter. If you want to find 10 'fans' who take their denial public for the world to see, you can go to Twitter and have a story to post within the hour.

Friday, we'll have a story about how "Brewers fans think Roenicke is the WORST MANAGER EVERRRRRRRRRRR" because he makes a call to the bullpen when 10 arm chair managers chime in via Tweetdeck. Check it out!

The reporter didn't even really have to run a search. There is a @BestFansStLouis twitter feed that collects all of the stupid stuff said by Cards fans on Twitter (mostly to mock their self-proclaimed status as the best fans in baseball).

 
It will be interesting to see if Wainwright ends up costing the NL the World Series. Maybe even his own team. Yes, the AL won by two, but if Jeter isn't on base, maybe Miggy gets pitched differently. You never know how grooving that pitch changed things.

Has ZERO impact, IMO. Like you said, the AL won by 2 anyway.

Ok so let's say Jeter gets out and Trout is up with no one on. Don't you think Wainwright probably pitched Trout a little more carefully with a runner on 2nd and no outs? I don't think Wainwright was giving Trout much he could hit in that situation.

 
The Royals pick up Jason Frasor for a fringey 26-year old minor league pitcher.

I don't like a lot of things about Dayton Moore but I think this is a good move. Frasor is a decent veteran and not very expensive. If a "contender" can make a move like this two weeks before the deadline, they obviously get two more weeks of use from their acquisition but I think they also avoid the risk of the Rangers' price going up as the deadline approaches.

Even if the NL had won by 10, you have no idea how the game is going to shake out in the first inning. Giving up free pitches in a game that might determine whether your team gets WS HFA is pretty gross, IMO.

I dunno, I don't think it really had a big effect on the game. The NL tied it up 3-3 in the 4th after Wainwright was gone. They had chances to take the lead or win it.

Pfft. With any luck, the powers-that-be will realize that home field in the World Series being decided by the winner of the ASG is really, really dumb. The ASG is supposed to be fun and not be taken seriously, no matter how much MLB wants otherwise.

On Wednesday, Derek Holland went on the radio and told listeners of KRLD-FM about a game called Fart Bottle Roulette. I'm going to quote Derek Holland's explanation of what Fart Bottle Roulette is in just a minute, but you already know what Fart Bottle Roulette entails. You do.

Holland, who was injured earlier this year by a wayward dog, was asked about how pitchers kill time in the bullpen and he brought up two games they play in Texas: Fart Bottle Roulette and Pink Eye. Take it away, Derek:

"Basically, there are two games. One is called pink eye. That is when you just fart in somebody's face and they can't flinch. If they move, there is a penalty for it. This all came from Mark Lowe. 'Fart Bottle Roulette' is when you get a bunch of little water bottles, fart into one of them, put them in a bag, shuffle it, and than watch everybody's reaction. Everybody opens a bottle one by one and it's the most nerve-wracking thing every because you really don't want that bottle."

It's hilarious when the starting lineups from each league trot out there. The National League's starting lineup is almost entirely Dodgers and Reds, and the American League's starting lineup is almost entirely Yankees and A's.

Astros don't reach a deal with Aiken. Seems kind of silly on the Astros part. Even if something worried them on his physical, slot is still pretty team favorable. They get the #2 next year, but they will have no leverage with it, so they have to make it a somewhat safe pick.

Pretty much everybody loses here. I doubt Aiken will be eligible for NCAA and probably loses a lot of money in the long run. The Astros who are trying to sell there fans to be patient and they know what they're doing get more egg on face.

What a disaster for the Astros. They deserve it. You sell your fans that you are building a foundation through the draft then throw away a year?

Jacob Nix their 5th round pick is the one who really got screwed. Houston had a deal with him but made it contingent on the Aiken signing which is not allowed apparently.

Lawsuits are going to be flying.

 
In the eyes of Colby Lewis, Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus sure could use a lesson in baseball etiquette.Lewis, the Rangers' starting pitcher, exchanged words with Rasmus during the fifth inning of Texas' 4-1 loss Saturday. The right-hander was irked when Rasmus laid down a two-out bunt single with the Blue Jays up 2-0 and the Rangers playing the shift.

"I told [Rasmus] I didn't appreciate it," Lewis said, according to MLB.com. "You're up by two runs with two outs and you lay down a bunt. I don't think that's the way the game should be played."

My home league (12 man keeper) staff is Hamels, Anibal, Ross, Hudson, Fister, and Odorizzi with Holland, Jansen, and Melancon as my closers (Romo also, but he's benched for now). That staff is not exciting, in fact it's probably something people would have discounted as a middle of the pack rotation. But it's first in WHIP, 2nd in ERA, middle of the pack in Ks and wins, and first in saves. Estrada and Straily were busts and I dealt Gausman, but overall I've been good/lucky. Wish I could say the same for my hitters, Holliday, Bourn, and Butler all seem like pretty terrible picks for what I paid.

Ross was $3 near the end of the draft. I had him, Estrada, and Kluber for two spots. Wish I would have got Kluber instead of Estrada, I might be in first if I had.

A 105-year-old woman threw out the first pitch before the SD game. She was 10 feet from the catcher, underhanded it and dribbled it up there.

The Rangers have just contacted her agent.

That game had a lot of things going on, and it was weird I chose this game to listen to while doing yard work. This, the no hitter bid, and Padres radio broadcaster Ted Leitner spending about an inning blasting Yasiel Puig. Apparently he took some heat for calling Puig a "dog," and he called worse today. Said Puig is lazy, doesn't respect the game, half-asses everything he does and plays the game like Barry Bonds.

Leitner is a caricature of Tom Brokaw if you haven't heard his delivery, and he sure is quite a righteous guy. I like the Padres broadcast for the most part, but they spend a lot of time talking about things beyond the numbers or even the sport. I guess that's the life of the Padres broadcast team.
