Getting kinda crazy how every Cuban is a huge breakout instantly. This despaigne guy is supposed to be like el duque, right?
He doesn't strike guys out but he sure does induce a ton of weak ground balls, especially vs righties.Getting kinda crazy how every Cuban is a huge breakout instantly. This despaigne guy is supposed to be like el duque, right?
Stark: Clayton Kershaw had only allowed one road HR all year before tonight. At Coors. To Tulo. Bourjos hadn't hit a HR w runner on since 6/26/12Peter Bourjos just homered off of Kershaw.
Seriously.
Agreed. Miller is the giants broadcaster though, and Morgan was really bad towards the end. Kruk is awful too though, I always thought he was somewhat of a character but he hasn't really been that way in a few years. These ESPN guys are brutal...
No command, terrible insight, Kruk isn't funny and the other guy sounds like he's doing an informercial.
Bring back Morgan and Miller, my goodness.
He's pretty much Brandon Hicks at this pointUggla signs with the Giants, optioned to Fresno.
I think guys like him have a limited window. They're good the first 3-4 years when they're still really connected to the game and the players playing. But then, they get further away from the game and don't know the players as well and become all schtick.I remember when Kruk got hired like a dozen years ago I thought he would be really good. Excellent even.
That was.......wrong.
Might sell some Grizzlies tix? He's pretty much Brandon Hicks at this pointUggla signs with the Giants, optioned to Fresno.
no but morales is a studIs Harper bad enough vs lefties that he needs to take a seat in Colorado?
No. I think most Nats fans are confused by what Williams is doing with Harper, between this and where he's been in the lineup. Is Harper bad enough vs lefties that he needs to take a seat in Colorado?
There's conflict there, between him and Harper and between Harper and some of the vets. Winning cures all but there are obvious issues with this team, and Harper's numbers confirm what some are thinking. He's a 21-year-old kid from a different generation, not sure the vets know how to deal with him being the fan favorite or how outspoken he can be. Williams is not helping this IMO, Davey kept things steady but Williams doesn't have the experience.No. I think most Nats fans are confused by what Williams is doing with Harper, between this and where he's been in the lineup. Is Harper bad enough vs lefties that he needs to take a seat in Colorado?
looks like hes still in the gameCarlos Gonzalez hurt his hand again sliding into third head-first. Why wouldn't you slide feet first if you have a bad hand?![]()
I'm usually a critic of Williams but I defended the benching of Harper yesterday. Here was my reasoning, which kind of jibes with what Williams said:There's conflict there, between him and Harper and between Harper and some of the vets. Maybe he should give it up like Victorino did...Should also point out that Espinosa went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and a walk yesterday. 2 RBIs and a run scored. If you're in a deep fantasy league and want a 1-2 day middle infield fill in this week you could do a lot worse, if the Nats actually do what I think they're gonna do. He's an abomination from the left side, though. He should sue whoever taught him to switch hit.
You're definitely not the first person to suggest that. He's incredibly stubborn, though. And I'm not sure of the details with Victorino, but I know Espinosa's been switch-hitting for most of his life, so he'd be looking at RHPs from the right side for the first time since childhood if he gave it up.Maybe he should give it up like Victorino did...Should also point out that Espinosa went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and a walk yesterday. 2 RBIs and a run scored. They really havent given up anything of value unless you think Nuno & Solarte are keys to the futureYankees kinda-sorta going for it is weird shtick. Guess they can't really pack it in during Jeter Year.
I think Nuno vs. McCarthy in 2014 is close to a wash. That they gave up five more years of Nuno, who I think could be a useful pitcher although probably not an ace, is pretty bad. They really havent given up anything of value unless you think Nuno & Solarte are keys to the futureYankees kinda-sorta going for it is weird shtick. The Yankees have been making trades like these since the days of GM George Weiss in the 1950s. They have more ability to absorb salaries and take on financial risk. The prospects are B- guys even by the Yankees' standards.Good Posting Judge said:I think Nuno vs. McCarthy in 2014 is close to a wash. Headley for Solarte and De Paula is also pretty close to a wash, Headley will at least help with that leaky defense, but I can't see him having a big impact. Maybe they get his bat fixed and he's worth an extra win or two, but that's probably the max.
The most troubling thing is that they're not necessarily going to shut down Tanaka, and try to bring him back this year. That just seems like an awful idea. I guess they technically have a very outside shot at making the playoffs and running the gauntlet if everything breaks right, but their run differential is 13th best in the AL.
Pretty much the final nail in the coffin on my season in my home league.Who had July 22nd in the Tulo to the DL pool?
Currently in 10th.Yeah but the Yankees are about to get John Danks, sky is the mother####ing limit.Good Posting Judge said:I think Nuno vs. McCarthy in 2014 is close to a wash. Headley leaves them loaded in the bottom of the 12th.Pitchers duel in New York.

I'm surprised he didn't sprain his uvula swallowing the pillCameron Maybin has been suspended for 25 games after testing positive for an amphetamine.
He's back like a bad penny. He'll fit right in for San Diego.Jeff Francoeur released by the Indians. It looks like it's the end of the line for Frenchy. He is a great guy and teammate by all accounts and was capable of looking like a ballplayer in (mostly) brief spurts. He was somehow able to parlay these into almost 5000 MLB PAs and over $25M.
He leaves the game with Mel Hall and Derek Bell as his top two B-R similarity scores. Hopefully Francoeur will be able to stay out of prison.
