What's crazy is that A's rotation is stacked, yet the idiotic 5-game series nullifies it if they meet a team with a good 3-man rotation.

I just really hate how baseball does their postseason. Not to sound like Dentist but it's just crazy to decide a freaking 160 game season that way.

this is damn good...Jimmy Key was hands down my favorite pitcher to watch work a game. and Guzman was quite a comet in that era.

Those squads felt untouchable. Ward and Henke in the pen? Outrageous!

The A's moves remind me a lot of that team, since it was really the Jays pushing all-in and adding Morris and Cone to an already strong roster. Trading Jeff Kent for Cone would have looked terrible if the Jays didn't win that season, but flags fly forever, etc...

Cespedes can opt for free agency after 2015 and has struggled lately, it sounds like a better deal for the Red Sox based on his name/reputation than it actually is IMO.

Kind of agree with this, he's not a good OBP guy. Billy Beane obviously sees things he doesn't like in Cespede, which makes me wary.

Yea - .294 OBP last year and .303 this year. That's pretty bad.

Having said that - good trade for Boston. No chance Lester re-signs in Oakland.

Cespedes still has value for his power and defense, but yeah, I'd say the A's did well here.

You're confusing Cespedes having a good arm with being good at defense.

One year of Yoenis (BOS can't get a pick for him, his contract states he has to be non-tendered after 2015) beats letting Lester walk, but man Boston did not do well here.

Fuld and Cespedes have the same WAR this year, Fuld's done it in 40 fewer games though.

Cards were down on both Craig and Kelly for appropriate reasons. Kelly's always been overrated in my book, but Craig's season long swoom is a bit surprising.

It shocked me at first, but I like this move for the Cards. That 500k season will be nifty.
