**Official 2014 MLB Regular Season-All over but the shouting (2 Viewers)

Ok enough of this mccarthy chat.

Wtf did the yankees just let go thornton. Makes no sense.

Also, mccutchen has a fractured rib but is not hitting the dl... Yet. Perhaps thats good news. Sounds more like the HBP could have caused the issue. Unreal i lose goldy to a hbp and then the next night they retaliate vs cutch and i lose him too. And some guy in here predicted it might happen as well.
I predicted it although the way it happened was BS. Just a cowardly act especially considering Goldy's was an accident.

dude, you tried to make a grand case about how Yankees stadium was going to be so terrible for him due to it favoring left-handed hitters when the platoon splits for McCarthy don't really suggest that he has a problem with lefties.

I will not abide by the king of twitter being spuriously derided!
I would think pitching in Yankee Stadium against a team with good left handed hitters is a problem for any pitcher no matter his L/R splits. I don't think McCarthy has had that opportunity yet this year. Do you?
do I what?

I do not think a career difference in SLG of .001 a determining factor.

I understand that RN was making a spurious case himself. We don't need to resort to hyperbole here.

Feel your pain. I traded Trout for Goldy and Strasburg, then lost Goldy, McCutchen and CarGo all in like 3 days.

Cargo's been a Dumpster fire all year. Just hasnt been right physically. At least when he was on the DL I could replace his spot on my roster.

Apparently NY is thinking about bringing up this Lindgren guy, who is a 2014 draftee.

The funny thing about the thread title changes is that people who come to this forum once a month must be like..... "the f-ck?"

Mushnick routinely destroys both of them, which is why I love him.

Kay tries so hard he tries too hard. Monday, despite YES graphic showing the Rangers Yu Darvish had thrown 99 pitches, Kay said, Ninety-nine pitches for Darvish; his next one will be number 100. (Later confirmed by ESPNs Chris Broussard.)

kay started on the radio with sterling (yeah i know you know that) so maybe thats why he tries so hard. I thought he was good on the radio. I dont think is horrible when he sticks to announcing. But he always has to interject his opinion and ask his color guy stupid questions and hes a pompous blowhard mpst of the time. SEE YA

Say what you will about Pete Rose, but 4,256 is a ridiculous number. It seems like Jeter has been playing forever, and he's still 828 hits behind Pete. Yeah, he hung on and compiled, but he wasn't as physically gifted as many other players either. That number is still gonna be the one to beat 200 years from now. I can't prove that though.

So if Gibson was coaching the Tigers, Derek Jeter would probably be playing his last game of the season tomorrow.

:grinder:

Pedro Alvarez placed on bereavement leave. He joins all the fantasy baseball owners who thought he might be good this year. :hot:

Agreed. 5714 and 1406 are pretty safe as well. No one plays that long anymore. I just hope that 762 gets beaten some day.

That makes one of us.

Baseball turned its head on the whole steroid thing, happy enough to be out of the labor mess that they helped create. You get the record holders that you deserve.

I don't care about the steroid era. I wish all my favorite athletes juiced. I just hate Bonds.

I hate Rose but a record is a record

Do Wacha or Wil Myers have any shot at helping me the rest of the year?
wacha ETA is mid september so id so no on him. I have no clue myers eta but he really struggled this year. If you can stash him on the dl i see no harm but i wouldnt waste a bench spot on him.

It's a keeper, but don't think I'll be keeping either as it stands. Just looking for some help down the stretch and in the playoffs.

There's a chance (pending how the rotation performs between now and then) that they may bring Wacha back with the idea of using him out of the bullpen for the rest of the season/postseason.

Myers should be good to go in two weeks or so, I think he's a good platoon candidate and maybe catching lightning in a bottle.

They really gave up on Nuno way too fast, esp for an OK-ish rental.
Are you new to the Yankees?
It's like you guys don't even know where the Yankees play. Nuno has given up 15 HRs this year. 13 of them came at Yankee Stadium.
Are you new to Brandon McCarthy?
Looking like a genius trade for the pinstripes so far.
McCarthy was mediocre against the Indians in his first start away and pitched well at home against two teams with AAA lineups. I wouldn't define that as "genius" just yet.
Any credit for shutting down a pretty fair Tigers lineup? Looking at 4-0 with a 2.50 ERA if the pen holds it.
The Tigers have hit .173/.198/.255 so far this series :McCarthyEffect:

You have a peculiar way of saying "I was wrong."

Capuano, a pitcher who was released from a last place team a month ago, pitched a more effective game against Detroit than McCarthy. Apparently I'm supposed to admit I'm wrong, but calling the Tigers lineup "pretty fair" with that series slash line is right?
